Chương 12: Time to face reality
Mel heaved a sigh of relief as the doctor broke the news of the successful operation to her.
"Thank you so much, doctor." She said to the woman who gave her a searching look.
"Ma'am, I think you need to get yourself checked out. You don't look good." The doctor said out of concern.
Mel now look as pale as a ghost. Her lips repeatedly bitten and already has cracks, while her eyes were deep red from too much of crying that hasn't even stopped yet.
She looked more lean than before, as if she was suffering from an illness.
She just composed herself in front of the woman.
She need to be strong for her friend and baby. If not, she doubt she could withstand the force of normal air.
Her body felt light and everything around her was starting to fluctuate, blurriness and vividness.
She's so messed up.
"I'm alright, doctor. Thank you." She said before the woman could protest, she stood up and walked towards Amy's ward.
She just needed to wait for Amy to wake up, which only took 2 hours.
…..
She was now sitting in her ward with Amy's hand in her own.
"Amy, stop this please." She sobbed.
She was the one that should be apologizing for bringing harm to her, but it's the other way around.
"Mel, I failed to protect you two. I failed to protect Collins. I'm such a useless human being." Amy sobbed, ignoring the fact that she's not in a good condition herself.
Even though the area that was shot wasn't grave, it took them a long while to come to the hospital and to avoid any damage to her hand, she had to stay hospitalized for a while before she would be released.
Luckily for them, her health is insured where she works, so they do not have to worry about bills.
"Amy, I should be the one apologising for failing my baby and letting you get hurt. I feel more horrible hearing this from you. You've done a lot for me, already.
I owe you a lot." Mel said and Amy shook her head.
"No, dear. You owe me nothing. You gave birth to Collins, but he's my son as well. I've never view him in a different light. I love him and we have to get him back.
He doesn't belong there, Mel." She held her hand tightly, and mentally groaned as she mistakenly stressed the one that was just operated on.
"I would rather die than leave him with them. I want to make sure you're alright first before going to their filthy home….." Mel was cut short from her words.
"You won't die, Mel. You will get your baby back and get a good job and then we would be happy again.
Okay?" She said and Mel nodded with tears streaming down her face.
"So, what's the plan?" Amy asked, feeling that knowing the step to take is better than just going there.
"I will not leave the place until they return my son to me. If I have to, I will fight everyone that step outside that gate. If I get my hand on any of them, I will tear them to pieces.
If I come face to face with that man again, I will kill him. I will f*cking kill him!" She lost it and Amy felt her heart hurt.
When Mel was speaking, she wasn't the same woman with warmth in her eyes a few seconds ago.
She look like something had possessed her.
Like she is loosing her mind and it's a miracle that she look this composed, compare to her overprotective nature before.
Perhaps because the deed has been done.
"Mel, I will advise you to do this. Using violence wouldn't solve the issue, so contact Alexander if your confrontation didn't bring any positive results.
You know that bastard wouldn't make a move if he hasn't plan it well. He has been silence all these while, so it's weird he suddenly make a move now.
Mel, I'm worried and scared. I wish I can go with you, please. I don't feel good about this.
I….. I'm so lost and scared." Amy ranted, but Mel has frozen after hearing the name 'Alexander'.
The man that never even once set his eyes on his own son and neglected her.
The man that used to tell her how she mean the world to her and then suddenly chase her away.
The man that told her not to show up in front of him again, on the day she planned to tell him the news of her pregnancy.
The man that betrayed her.
She shook her head softly. "Amy, I need you to be strong for me to not worry about you. Your being safe alone gives me strength. If Alexander will be the last hope, of course I will do anything for my baby." She said.
She would have rejected that idea even if a gun was pointed to her head, but this is her child we're talking about.
Nothing matters than his safety and being in that home is nothing near safety.
They will turn him to Money machine with remote control over his life in their hands.
They will take the chance to grow like normal children does, from him.
The reason she eloped with Alex was because of his step mom coup and now her baby would live with such a manipulated woman?
Absolutely, no way?
She want to wonder if Alexander even know about Collins existence.
She wants to wonder what his expression would be like, when she appears in front of him and mentions the child they have together.
She wants to worry about him telling her he doesn't care, but that's not going to happen.
She just doesn't care.
Even if it will take her threatening him to make him help…..
Not just him, THEM!
She will threaten them till they give her son back.
She will threaten to expose to the world that they are nothing but kidnappers. They ruin her life and abduct her son.
She would scream to every social media that cared to listen, even those she would visit their office to leak the news.
She doesn't care what everyone will think of her.
This fight has just begun.
She has nothing to lose except her life and it's nothing without her boy anyway, so she will go as far as she can.
"Mel?" Amy's voice brought her from her determined world.
A world in her head, which she had won a battle she hasn't even begun and has her baby back.
Now it's time to face reality.
"I will leave now, Amy. Take care of yourself." She said and Amy nodded her head.
"I will join you as soon as I could move without causing a mess for you to worry about. I'm sorry for being….."
"Amy…." Mel cuts in.
"Best of luck, my friend." Amy said, facing the other side to not break down in front of her again.
Mel left, heading to chairman Charles's mansion.
