Immediately the man left, Liam's mother slammed the door, and they both went in. While Liam was still wondering about the delivery and what Emily could be up to, Liam's mother cut him off from his thoughts by clearing her throat.

Liam sat expectantly, waiting for his mother to say something.

"You know Liam, you would know how I do if you have been checking up on me like a good son, wouldn't you?" Liam's mother asked Liam.

"I called you three days ago to check up on you and I've been sending some money to you for your upkeep. That's actually what every good son would do, isn't it?" Liam asked her in turn. He had a very good idea of the reason why she was here and he was not surprised when she spoke.

"My know, my darling son, Charlotte told me that your ex wife is back in town and that she caught looking at her like a hungry kid in a candy store at several times, but I just hope my instinct is not deceiving me?"
