CHAPTER 16: A BREAK FROM THE RUINS
(A/N Hey sorry for not posting yesterday was feeling depresso. Would have uploaded earlier today but I got my blood drawn. Anyways I'll try to upload on Saturday to make up for not uploading Wednesday.)
Noctis finished checking his new powers and what he had received. He then looked back over to Faye who was still naked. He sighed as he got up to put his clothes on. Once he had put everything back on including his armor and mask, he left the room.
He then went out around Water Town to bring some food to the room. However back at the room.
Faye slowly opened her eyes. After she took a peek at the closing door, she knew Noctis was gone.
Faye let out a light sigh "I did not think he would wake up so soon. I was so worried about him."
Faye looked at the bed she was laying on and frowned "It was the best sleep of my life cuddling with him. At least he feels better now."
Faye smiled "He was a gentleman too. He did not even try to cop a feel when he woke up."
Faye frowned and looked at herself and got angry "Why didn't he try to cop a feel."
A realization dawned on her "Does he not like me?"
She slapped the sides of her face "No come on Faye you saw how he saved you. He did not get angry for Ruri he got angry for you."
She then put the pillow over her head and screamed. Once she took off the pillow she lightly said, "That dummy owes me for making me doubt myself."
Back with Noctis
Noctis was currently at a fish stand getting some fried calamari. He looked at the owner of the stand an asked "Hey by chance do you have anything vegetarian?"
The owner put his hand to his chin and thought for a moment "Yes but it's rather unique."
Noctis tilted his head "What is it?"
The owner smiled "It's a seaweed soup. The broth is made from fruits and vegetables found around the forest. The seaweed is cooked separately with avocado oil. After being cooked it is more of a seaweed cracker that people use to dip into the soup."
Noctis shrugged thinking this might be the best he could find. He handed the owner a piece of gold "I'll take that to go as well then."
The owner nodded his head "Coming right up."
After a while Noctis made his way back to the church where they were at. Apparently, he had been put in a room within the church. Noctis was about to walk in the room, but he decided to knock first. He did not want to cause anything by seeing her naked when she was awake. After all she was more likely to attack him that way.
He heard from the other side "Come in."
When he entered the door, he saw Faye in her normal adventurer clothes. Sitting on the bed. He walked in with his calamari and her container of seaweed soup.
He sat down next to her as he handed her a bag that had both the soup and the seaweed crackers. Faye tilted her head as she opened the bag and pulled out the smaller bag of crackers and the container of soup. "What's this?"
Noctis smiled "Well I went to get some calamari, but I thought you would want something to eat as well. The owner said this was good. It was also the only vegetarian meal they had."
Faye looked at the food with a warm smile. She opened up her food and used a wooden spoon to try the soup. She then also dipped a seaweed cracked in and tried it as well.
Noctis could hear a satisfied noise come from her. Faye turned to Noctis "Thank you."
Noctis smiled "Of course."
He then started to eat as well. Taking off his mask and pulling his hood back. Once they were both done eating Noctis turned to her an asked "Are you okay?"
Faye looked at her empty bowl and nodded "Yeah, I am. Are you?"
He smirked "You don't need to worry about me. I just want to make sure you are alright."
She nodded "But you grew a horn. You were also bleeding a lot from your eyes. What happened? Also, I thought you were a half elf."
Noctis sighed "I am that was something that I'm not even sure how or why it happened."
He looked up at the ceiling for a bit and then back to Faye "However I'm happy. Whatever happened to me gave me the power to save you. If anything were to happen to you… I…."
She looked up into his eyes "You would what?"
Noctis held the side of her face as he moved his closer to her "I would..."
The door was then slammed opened by Dain "Are you two long ears awake yet?!"
Both Noctis and Faye jumped and then looked at Dain while they were still close together. Dain scratched the back of his head as he slowly closed the door "Oh please go back to what you were doing."
Noctis gave a hateful glare as he tried to stare a hole through the door. Faye started to laugh causing him to look over. Faye kept laughing but he sighed "Well that certainly killed the mood."
Faye perked up "Oh were you trying to build a mood?"
Noctis rolled his eyes and put his mask and hood back on he then got up from the bed and reached out his hand for her to grab "Come on the others are probably waiting. Who knows how long I have been out for."
She smiled and took his hand as he gently brought her up "You're right you were out for two days after all."
Noctis was a bit surprised "Two days! No wonder I was so hungry. Well let's get going. We can finish this later."
Faye grabbed onto his arm as she mockingly said "Oh, you want to finish this later."
Noctis smirked as he tilted his mask up and kissed her cheek "Of course."
This caused Faye to freeze in place for a moment and let go of his arm as Noctis kept walking forward. Noctis turned around "Well let's get going we still got a mission as well."
Faye snapped out of her stupor "Right let's go."
Noctis opened the door as they were both about to walk out. When he opened the door he saw a pile of people Dain, Ruri, Krox, and the Sword Maiden Asteria fall in a pile. He looked up and saw Goblin Slayer off to the side clearly not interested. Noctis started to laugh but Faye was angry.
She squatted down over the four as she then asked, "Anything you want to say before I start shooting arrows at all of you."
Asteria quickly got up "Would you be willing to share him?"
Everyone's eyes widened as they all turned their heads towards Asteria even Goblin Slayer could be seen staring at her. Faye turned to Noctis "If you ever…."
Noctis immediately waved his hands in front of him and shook his head "How am I at fault here?"
The whole group started laughing as Faye had started to lay out some ground rules to Noctis even though they were not actually together. Yet.
After a while the group was in the outside garden of the church. Goblin Slayer pointed at the map "We should head back as soon as possible."
Noctis nodded his head as a hateful glint could be seen even through his mask "I would very much like to kill the rest as soon as possible."
The whole group nodded in agreement. Every one of them wanted to kill this group of goblins even more than they already did. Goblin Slayer then got up "Let's go now."
The rest got up as they all started to make their way back to the ruins.
