While other apprentice sorcerers took years or even decades to accumulate basic knowledge, Mark absorbed it all in less than two days. This earned him plenty of time and the appreciation of the Ancient One.
After a simple test of Mark's proficiency in basic knowledge, Ancient One agreed that he could join the other apprentices and begin training in magical control.
In fact, during these few days, Mark didn't spend all his time studying. Occasionally, he would set aside some time to try and communicate with the Vishanti dimension.

Mark informed the Ancient One about this phenomenon and inquired about the reason behind it.
The Ancient One explained that the energy from the Vishanti dimension had been refined by the deities Agamotto, Oshtur, and Hoggoth before being lent to the sorcerers. The unruly power had been tamed by the deities and imbued with new characteristics during this process, resulting in the distinction between the two types of magic.
Knowing the reason, during today's practice of magical control, Mark decided not to use the better-controlled Vishanti magic but instead practiced with the untamed Dark energy from the universe.
