After taking it, he sat near the counter of his workshop and opened it, begining to read the first page. He quickly finished the first chapter and, just like that old maniac said, he was immediately immersed in it as he couldn't help himself, but continue reading.
...
"What a shitty ending" Mo Fan muttered as he closed the book down "The lone cultivator died at the end just to save that annoying girl"
"Hmph, atleast he was strong enough to beat up twenty different Immortal Ascension experts all alone before dying" the gold haired kid continued to talk about the book, despite having already finished reading it "And he began from being just a weak kid without cultivation talent!"
"He started getting stronger rapidly when his medicine teacher taught him about acupuncture and then-" while he was summarizing its story in his mind, he stumbled about something that might have been of help to him "Acupuncture? Wait, can I use it in the same way as he did in real life too?"
...
To vent all of his doubts, he quickly headed to the library and grabbed a basic manual about acupuncture, immediately bringing it home and beggining to read it.
Page by page, he devoured that book in less than half an hour, coming to a conclusion about the method the lone cultivator created: he could use it as well.
The method was that of stabbing all of the body's acupuncture points with needles, as to keep them open, and then wait for an hour or so with them still perforing those points. Then, the needles will have to be removed and those points will then stay naturally open for about an hour, before closing again. In this time, one needs to train as hard as possible with the objective of training all of the body, so the muscle around each acupuncture points will adapt to their presence and thus make more space for them, which will make them a little bit bigger. In this way, more Qi will be able to pass through them at once to slowly reach the meridians and then the dantian, speeding the pace of one's cultivation a lot.
After realizing that the possibility of this method working on him as well existed, as the acupuncture principles of the books were the same as those needed to perform the method, Mo Fan immediately headed to his little forge to make hundreds of steel needles.
...
"Why does our body have so many acupuncture points? I've been striking for almost half and hour now and ten of them are still missing..." Mo Fan said, a sigh escaping his mouth as he quickly made the remaining needles needed.
Having all the material needed now, he moved to his courtyard (another privilege of being a "Special Disciple") and took out the acupuncture book again, carefully reading where the acupuncture points were precisely as he didn't want to stab one of his veins instead and die of blood loss.
"So our body has 361 acupuncture points and I am supposed to stab all of them with needles with an absolute precision or i'll die, huh?"
"Well, it's kinda impossible, but since I don't have anything to lose I'll guess i'll try" Mo Fan said as he tried to stab the first acupuncture point, which was located on his head.
His hands trembled as the needle was closer and closer to his forehead as he feared catching a blood vessel or a vein instead. Fortunately, nothing like that happened since when the needle stabbed him, it entered perfectly in his acupuncture point and widened it, causing to Mo Fan only a little bit of pain, which he could beare with ease.
Like this, he started to stab all of his other acupuncture points with the other needles, and as he kept going, his speed gradually increased just like did his confidence at doing that.
...
After a couple of minutes he was done and had needle sticking out of him everywhere, he looked just like a hedgehog.
"It hurts a bit now that all of those needles are stabbing me... pant... but... if I want to get strong... pant... this is just the start" Mo Fan said, before starting to perform the White Crane Spear Arts, which were optimal to train all of the body's muscle just like the method required "I know I should just wait for an hour, but why waste time if I can train, right?"
...
It was tiring, very very tiring. When he tried to make a spear movement, the needles restricted them as they would either crush with each other or pierce another one of muscle, but fortunately with time he learned how to avoid these by modyfing the spear movements a little bit. By doing this, his control over the White Crane Arts was enhanched on a whole other level and after an hour he had even mastered it completely.
"The hour's up now" said Mo Fan, before he quickly carefully removed all off the needles from his body "I just have to train for another hour now, and the method should make effect"
...
After another hour, he was completely covered by sweat, as he had been training at the highest intensity one could even think of for the entire time since he wanted to make sure to follow the "train as hard as possible" rule of the method. And, after he gave another thrust of spear, he felt the pain that came from the acupuncture points being open, that was similar like throwing salt to a wound, disappear, which only meant one thing: they closed finally again.
There was no visible difference about his acupuncture points being bigger now, but Mo Fan could feel it as he clenched his fist: his body was absorbing way more Qi than it did before.
"Well, It doesn't work like it did for the lone cultivator as my terrible meridian network lets me absorb only one tenta of the Qi i come in contact too, but I atleast my rate of cultivation should now be the same as that of the average disciple of the High Heaven Pavilion, so it's still a great result"
"And if I keep using this system, my acupuncture points will only get bigger" Mo Fan said with absolute excitement as he looked at the stars in the dark sky.
"Old maniac... you were right. Books do have a lot of power after all..."
