Chương 5: First Mission

[Happy birth day]

That was the first thing Mark heard when he woke up one morning in his cave.

"Is today the start of a new year?"

[Yes, and to celebrate the new year and your birth day, I've got your first mission]

[A mission is an assignment that I'll give you to increase your power. Missions are based off of two factors. The first being emotions. By taking in emotions that leak off of another being, I can form a special type of energy that can be used to enhance your body, mind, or experience. The second is how much it helps the dimension. For example, if you were to plant something, I could gain dimensional energy. The dimensional energy can be used to create tangible items,] Pass seemed to be getting better at predicting what kind of questions Mark would ask him.

First Mission: Talk to another human

Reward: 10 SP(Special points)

Mark had mixed feeling about this mission. Anything involving another human was something he didn't like. He's tried liking another human before. He's trusted another human, and even had fun being around them, but they changed.

*Flashback*

"Hello there, what's your name?" A handsome looking boy said to the boy in the alleyway.

"I don't have one," replied the boy.

"That's fine then. Do you wanna' play?" The handsome boy tried to continue the conversation.

"... No," The boy replied, slightly hesitating.

"Okay then. I'll be back tomorrow," The handsome boy left

The boy in the alleyway wanted someone to talk to so he was looking forward to the boy's visit. He looked toward his only hand, in which he could see a shiny golden coin. He found the coin a few days before people started to come back to this area. 'It must be my lucky charm,' thought the boy. He had heard the phrase before, and he felt like it fit this situation.

.....

Day after day, the handsome boy came back to talk with the boy in the alleyway. The alleyway boy grew to like his company, and they would play together for awhile before the handsome boy would leave, only to return the next day.

.....

One day the handsome boy asked for something.

"Hey, have you seen a golden coin anywhere?" The handsome boy asked.

"... No, I haven't seen one," the alleyway boy answered, he didn't want to give away his lucky coin.

"Okay then, see you tomorrow," and the handsome boy left just like every other time.

.....

The alleyway boy thought and thought over the days. He eventually decided to give the coin to the handsome boy. He figured since he already had something, someone to talk to, it would be fine if he gave the coin away.

"Here you go," he shoved his left hand forward.

"What is it?" The handsome boy asked.

"The coin. The golden coin you were looking for," he opened his hand for the handsome boy to see.

"Are you sure I can have it?" The handsome boy asked, this time with a look of care and concern.

The handsome boys appearance vanquished any qualms he had about giving the handsome boy the coin, so he shook his head, yes.

Before he could even realize what was happening, the coin was already out of his hand.

"Hahahahahahahah, I thought he would never give me the coin," the handsome boys face twisted into a face of anger, "Boys, beat him up. If it weren't for the law, I would've just taken the coin and beaten him to death."

The handsome boy turned around, and a group of muscular men started coming toward. The first one to reach him through a fist, the next a kick, and before long, all of the men had gotten hits on him. They finally left after awhile

When they were all gone, a single tear fell down the boys bruised cheek. He hadn't cried when the men had beaten him, he was already used to that kind of pain, but the pain in his heart hurt too much. More than any pain he had ever felt before, the pain of losing his only light in a dark, cruel world, and even being betrayed by it, made him cry when he thought he never would again.

*End Flashback*

Much to his chagrin, though, the SP would help him become more powerful, which would in turn make his survival easier. No matter how much he didn't want to see another human, his survival was more important.

Pass was teaching him many things that would help his survival. He taught him more complicated words, and he planned to teach Mark other languages, as well. He taught him about the danger of this world, such as the different types of beasts and plants, and what could cause him to run into them. The scariest that he had been taught about so far was a magic beast tide.

A magic beast tide could be cause by a few reasons. If a natural disaster were to strike and ruin their habitat, a magic beast tide would occur. On rare occasions, if a magic treasure's aura spread to them, a magic beast tide could be triggered.

Some magic beast tides weren't too dangerous, but the upper limit of the damage they can cause is only limited by the strength and numbers of the beast, which could vary greatly.

Beasts weren't the only danger. With the massive amount of races found on this planet, known as the Center Planet, some were bound to be hostile to humans.

He had been lucky so far, but he needed more protection than just himself, so he would probably have to find civilization eventually, anyway. Having to do something and wanting to do something were completely different.

He wanted to just come close to civilization, but the mission was basically placing him in between a rock and a hard place. Sadly for his emotions, survival came before all else in his life.

"Do you know what direction is the closest to civilization?" Mark asked Pass, with a hint of depression present in his voice.

[The closest human civilization is that way] Mark felt a tugging in his soul that pointed the water, or Mana, in the direction of human civilization.
