“Really, boss?” Trip asked. “Does that mean there are more kids in our future?”
Deuce swatted his head, and we all laughed.
“Deuce has it right,” Mark said as he stroked Joe’s hair. “No matter what happens, we’ll always love you. Me, Uncle Quinn, Grandmother, str?c.”
Joe nodded, relieved.
“Okay. Are you ready to go home?”
He nodded again, and Mark glanced at me.
“Yes.” I smiled. “These kidlets need to be settled in for the night.”
Trip’s stomach rumbled, and he blushed. “Sorry,” he said. “I…uh…I missed lunch.”
“Then let’s go get some dinner.”
GREGOR HAD A GOOD meal waiting for us, and our guests were very impressed.
“Think you could make something like this, boss?” Trip asked, teasing his partner.
“Yeah,” Deuce responded dryly. “Let me just get the recipe.”
