A few meters behind the young man, a group of teenagers could be seen chasing the warlock furiously. In the lead of these young men was a young man with bright blue eyes, the likes of an exploding supernova.
"Don't let the bastard escape!!!" The young man looked angry. The one that they were chasing apparently had a treasure in his hands. However, he was just too slippery, try as they did they couldn't catch him.
—Woosh
The young warlock dashed through the camp, avoiding his pursuers with maximum effectiveness
"If he gets away I'll fry all your assess" the blue-eyed young man shouted at his subordinates, causing them to go into overdrive.
—swoosh
—whoosh
—whoosh
Unknown to them though, they had actually ran past their target because as soon as he made a particular turn, he was grabbed by an invisible hand and pulled between two tents
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
"You....."
With his back to the ground and a knife to his neck, the young warlock couldn't help but drip with sweat.....
"You're a warlock?" The young warlock looked at Leon's eyes and spoke with confusion. He was able to pinpoint Leon's identity as a warlock immediately after setting his eyes on him.
"Yes, yes. Is that a problem?" Leon raised his eyebrows, meanwhile his dagger was still pressed hard on the young man's throat.
"So you shouldn't be holding me hostage" The young man complained immediately about Leon's actions. They were in the middle of a battlefield. Petty situations like these shouldn't be happening.
"I am holding hostage. Me being a warlock has nothing to do with it" Leon mocked the young man. Did he think Leon had some sort of camaraderie in his heart? Laughable. Leon couldn't care less.
"What do you want then?" Staring deep into Leon's eyes, the young warlock understood that Leon was dead serious. He didn't care that they were both Warlocks.
"What do you have?" Leon responded with a slight chuckle. Greed shone in his eyes
Clearly this was a robbery. Leon didn't care for whatever struggle the Warlocks were going through, all he wanted were benefits.
"I swear, I don't have anything on me. I barely escaped with my life, talk less of treasure"
The young warlock immediately denied having anything on him. But naturally, this was a lie, if not the hunters wouldn't be chasing after him like they were.
(theres no way in hell he'll be able to find it in my stomach)
The treasure he stole was in his stomach, unless Leon had x-ray vision he wouldn't be able to see through him. Even if he suspected him to be lying.
"Hmm? So you don't have any salamander familiar eggs ?" Leon asked while his eyes were completely focused on the pouch on the warlocks belt. Inside of it was a small ball-shaped egg.
Warlocks could derive life-energy from bloodlines, but these bloodlines also had origins with specific ancient creatures in nature. So they tend to take in monsters who shared the bloodlines of these ancient creatures to strengthen their own.
And the best way to tame them was through eggs, the monsters in this world were very stubborn and could hardly be tamed. Unless, you start taming them from a young age, i.e. eggs
"This…" The young man struggled, he didn't understand why Leon wanted his egg. He was worked hard and spent his life savings to get one. Even though it wasn't as important as the treasure he had in his belly, he still didn't feel good letting it go.
"Can….we sort something out?" The young warlock tried to negotiate. He didn't understand why Leon wanted his salamander egg, even though he could sense that their bloodlines were a bit similar, it was still clear that they were not from the same Clan.
" No we can't work anything out, give it up, or I'll take it by force" Leon shook his head indicating that he would not negotiate.
"Sigh!!" seeing that all his efforts were futile, the young warlock reached into his pouch and brought out a black peble-sized egg and handed it to Leon.
" You might not understand this yet, but I've done you a great favor, go that way and enter the forest. There, you'll see a stream, follow it, and you'll be safe" Leon said to the kid before tucking the small egg into his robe. He then stood up, allowing the young warlock to do the same.
"Hmp!!" The young warlock sneered at Leon before rushing off in the direction Leon told him to go to. He had no choice.
But just as he made it past the tents in front....
—puuu
An Arrow flew out from nowhere and periced the young man in the head. Ripping his life.
"Sigh" Leon couldn't help but sigh while caressing the egg in his robe. When he saw the young man eariler, a status window appeared on his head.
It read
" future dragon rider king "
After hatching a dragon salamander, the dragon rider will be born. King level threat: chance of achieving this : 30%
" end "
This wasn't the first time Leon had seen this kind of status window. Sometimes it would point out miraculous encounters and sometimes unlucky ones. All of which had different possibilities of actually happening. But this guy's was the highest he had seen. So as soon as Leon saw it, he decided to take action and steal the egg.
Of course, there was a possibility that this wasn't the exact one, but he took the chance.
It didn't matter now though, the kid layed before him lifeless. On the outskirts of the camp, several hunters laid in ambush, if anyone tried to leave they would kill them. These were their orders.
The world was cruel, even the treasure the kid was trying so hard to protect was gone just like that.....
Even Leon would find it hard to leave here if he tried.
"Oh well" Leon proceeds to walk out from in between the tents. This monster egg was a good enough trophy for his little looting expedition. He would rather not overdo it.
"You, what are you doing here?"
However, Leon didn't expect that his journey here wasn't yet over. In fact, it was far from it.
