Magus in Marvel

Chapter 2 Part 4

By: Pineappl3

"I'm proud. You learned everything an Adept Magus would in maybe a tenth of the time it would take from someone to learn the basics. Honestly can't tell if it's because of how great I am or how talented you are."

With a cute laugh, Felicia slapped my back. "Master, why can't it be both? Plus, my dad always said I should never settle for second best."

Letting out a hearty chuck I nodded my head in agreement. "Well, I have no clue if it's fate or what, but you seem to find finesse your way to the answers. Now, stop distracting me. I know you're nervous about the baptism, but there is no reason to worry. I advanced to Adept once again yesterday and I was more than capable of keeping you safe well before then."

"I leave my safety in your hands Master." I let out a short sign and thought back on the last few weeks. Felicia had taken to calling me Master, but always said it with a certain tone. Besides this little oddity, she absorbed everything I taught her like a sponge.

I was giddy with happiness I had lucked into such a great apprentice, even if she was a little clingy. Besides me teaching her almost everything she would need to know until she was an Adept Magus, besides spellcasting, I had also started teaching her how to brew potions.

Her first attempt was a simple eyesight enhancer that allowed her to see in dim light. It was called a 'Cat's Eye' potion and she had completed it without assistance from me. As a reward, I brewed her a 'Potion of Giant's Health' and let it ferment.

Speaking of which, mine had finished fermenting and I had consumed it almost immediately. The effects took a few days to take effect, but I had grown a few inches and my muscles grew in density slightly.

Athena had made great progress recording and cataloging my lesions to Felicia, and was confident she could teach the basics to any new students I took. With the help of Nixie checking out the physical sites, both girls managed to finally find me a location to build my Magus Tower.

The only problem was the price of the location. After finding out the astronomical price of the skyscraper that just so happened to be on the land I wanted, I gave Athena the go ahead to start a R&D folder where she would come up with future Magitech with my help to raise funds.

My Mother had returned to the house a few times, but trips away from home had become more frequent and longer. It bothered me none though, as I was given free reign of the place.

Bringing my thoughts to current affairs, I looked down at my pupil. She was sitting cross legged on my bed and she was getting into her meditation. "Now, I will help you out and even numb the pain, but remember, this will take all day. I hope you told your parents you won't be coming home."

"I told them I was staying at a friends house. It would be strange if I told them I was coming to see my Master." I scratch my head at that. 'There it was again. There is something about how she says that. I just can't place my finger on it.'

Taking a deep breath and clearing my head, I sat cross legged behind Felicia. I placed both of my palms on her back above where her heart would be and began channeling mana into her.

"I'm starting, so do as we practiced." Without moving, she responded by moving the mana into her heart and then from there she moved it throughout her body. I smiled as my plan worked perfectly.

I was injecting my own mana into her, and her body greedily ate it up. This was good for many reasons, but for me it meant she would not be able to kill me with her magic as long as I still had mine.

It was cruel to neglect this information from her, but honestly it was what most Magi did. The next, but most important reason this was good was because she would have access to the same 'flavor' of mana I used.

Due to my extensive research on traveling through time and space to get here, the 'flavor' of mana I used for my mana-baptism was Space Mana. It had many many uses, from making it easier to teleport to even being great for defensive and offensive spells.

Overall it was one of the best types of mana to use for a baptism. I would have attempted to help her use Fate Mana for the baptism, but it seemed only I could sense it. The few attempts I had made to move it into her body she was not able to feel its presence and had led to my current decision.

Not too long after the ritual began for the baptism, I was no longer needed as her body began to absorb Space Mana subconsciously. To assist in the process, I also gifted my apprentice a Mana Gathering Tattoo.

It was customary to give apprentices gifts every time they broke through, and I could think of no better gift than one that would help them no matter the rank. Excusing myself from the room, I left and informed Nixie to take care of Felicia.

As I was enjoying myself to an episode of 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' the doors to the house swung open to reveal my mother. Without moving from my spot I waved to her. "Hello Mother, there are some leftovers in the fridge you can heat up."

Without giving me the usual hug and kiss she always did once she returned, she stormed past me and headed into her room. 'Odd. But alright then.' Turning back to my show I lamented the fact Carlton was terrible with women. 'I remember when I was that way, arrogant, nerdy and obnoxious. That all changed whe-'

I heard a crash coming from my room and quickly rushed up the steps. Shoving open my door I found the source. Sprawled across my bedroom floor was the heaving figure of Felicia.

"What happened?" I turned my head to face Nixie and rose a single brow. Nixie twitched nervously then began. "I'm sorry Master, I should have paid better attention. I failed to realize a foreign energy was mixing into her body and by the time I tried to stop it some of her mana was expelled."

Moving to get closer to the unconscious body of Felicia, I instantly noticed the 'forgeign' energy that now flowed throughout my disciple. "She is fine. Fate took over. Somehow my personal Space Mana was expelled and is now replaced with Fate Mana. Although the shade seems a bit off."

Nixie hesitantly approached and After patting her back and assuring her that she did nothing wrong, she finally calmed. It wasn't long after when Felicia awoke from her short slumber.

"M-my head is killing me." With her hands holding the side of her head, Felicia slowly sat up and looked around the room. "So, uh, is everything alright?"

"Yes. Everything is alright. Not quite how I expected things to go, but it works out for you in the long run." 'Your magic can definitely kill me now, but I have another idea to prevent my death that will work in all scenarios.'

I helped Felicia up off the ground and dusted her off. "Congratulations on being my first and only apprentice to undergo their first mana-baptism. I can now officially bestow upon you the title of Magus.

Don't forget, you have the knowledge of magical theories that could make you an Adept Magus, but I have yet to teach you spellcasting. There is also the fact you are inexperienced."

With an annoyed look Felicia tilted her head away from me. "Thanks for raining on my parade." She sighed then clapped her cheeks. "Well, I'm beat. I hope I'm not doing anything else today. I think I can sleep for a few years."
