Chương 10: Chapter 10. Innate Skill

When Z-Emperor pouch actually revealed its true body, Zen saw something different from what Red Trickerss pirate group had seen.

Whether it was because of the influence of his Zombie body or because of his Magic abilities that he had developed in his own way, but Zen felt that the Z-Emperor pouch was smiling towards him.

Its tentacles swayed in the air as if waving.

Zen even faintly heard a soft voice saying something that Zen didn't understand.

But after Zen heard those words, he subconsciously became interested in the severed tentacles lying on the deck.

Zen expanded his <Magic Sense> and finally felt the response he recognized from there.

Zen actually found a Monster core part within the tentacles as if someone had actually hidden it on purpose.

Zen glanced back at the figure of the Z-Emperor pouch in the distance.

"It's can't be... Right?"

-A few moments later.

While the pirates were still cleaning up their Ship, Zen sneaked back into the storage room with a black Monster core the size of a fist.

Zen hide in an empty box in the corner and, after preparing himself in a comfortable position, he swallowed the Monster core.

As expected, it was a Monster core with Darkness element.

Zen frowned and focused himself as the cold and manipulative power of darkness began to grow and flow through his body.

Zen gathered the lines of Dark-Magic energy that appeared near the unfinished Fire-elemental Core forming while the amount of Dark-magic energy within his body was constantly increasing.

30 minutes later, the Dark-Elemental Core had formed perfectly.

The Elemental Cores that Zen was familiar with should not be able to be strengthened anymore because these Cores were closely related to the limits of a Cultivator's body. When a Cultivator had broken through to a higher Realm, only then would the Elemental Core also receive the blessing and become stronger.

However, Zen's Elemental Core is different. It continued to absorb the Dark-Magic energy within Zen greedily as if to say that it could still continue to eat more.

'Well, it's not formed using Spiritual energy after all, so I guess the unexpected variable is very natural.'

For now, Zen didn't see any adverse effects of the Elemental Core's great appetite.

In fact, Zen continued to feel that his body's Magic energy capacity continued to grow as his Elemental Core continued to grow.

Because the size of the Monster core that Zen swallowed this time was much larger, so even now, that Dark-Magic energy still didn't look like it was going to stop growing.

[Water Flowing Crystal Technique] was activated with full power to guide and forge

Zen's Mind strength while he controlled the Dark-Magic energy within his body to move and be absorbed by Dark-Elemental Core.

It took a while before the last Dark-Magic energy line finally fused with Zen's Dark-Eemental Core.

When Zen thought that he would only become a little stronger and have more Magic capacity due to consuming the Monster core given by the Z-Emperor pouch, Zen was immediately shocked by the new information that suddenly appeared in his head.

This without-language information is instinctive.

This information was suddenly received by Zen like a baby bird that suddenly began to understand how to fly after growing up.

Following his instincts, Zen stretched out his hand forward.

Dark smoke enveloped his arm as the Magic energy around his arm turned into Dark-Magic energy.

Zen's arm began to turn black.

His fingers begin to grow and elongate before splitting into 20 dark tendrils.

"... I see, so this is the ability I got from the Monster core earlier." Zen nodded in understanding as he recalled the explanation of the effect of the Monster core.

"This should be Z-Emperor pouch's ability... Even though it looks a little different from its."

The tendrils belonging to Z-Emperor pouch were like vine tendrils to, which the element of darkness was added, while the tendrils belonging to Zen were semi-physical formed by Magic energy and his flesh.

Zen focused his attention on his tendrils.

He pushed his tendrils to strike forward and then made several other movements as an experiment.

Zen didn't feel unfamiliar at all with these tendrils. It felt as if he had just grown an additional set of pliable hands, but he was able to quickly adapt to it.

Zen can also disable this ability with his mind and regain his five-fingered arm.

"This is pretty cool! I'll name this ability Darkness Grip from now on!"

Zen chuckled as he turned both of his hands into a bunch of squirming tentacles.

If one were to see him now, they would definitely feel disgusted by his creepy appearance.

Unfortunately, Zen, who is currently in a state of excitement with his new ability, is not aware of this at all.

The only thing Zen cared about right now was how to utilize {Darkness Grip} in the most efficient and maximum way.

-On the deck of the Ship.

Martha leaned against the wooden wall behind her as she was still trying to dispel the fear she felt earlier when she actually witnessed the true form of Z-Emperor pouch.

Martha's palms trembled and were filled with cold sweat as she covered her pale face.

She was very afraid to think about what would happen to them if they were just a little too late beforehand.

The rest of the crew was also no better than Martha.

They were all sitting weakly on the deck with pale faces.

As Zombies, Zen couldn't feel it at all, but these people actually felt the intense pressure that Z-Emperor pouch emitted just from appearing in front of them.

They felt like they had just met the angel of death.

Their chests felt tight and aching as if their hearts would fall at any moment.

After a while, Martha wiped her sweaty forehead and turned to Ben, who was currently standing stiffly on the rudder of the Ship and constantly guarding the Ship in full-speed flight.

"Ben, stop full-speed mode. We must not run out of fuel here because our fuel is limited before reaching the nearest floating port City."

As if Martha's words regained his senses, that thin man finally came to his senses and hurriedly lowered the speed of the Ship with his still trembling hands.

Martha sighed before staring at the other crew members.

"Good job, everyone. You guys can go back to your respective rooms after resting for a few more moments."

The crew's answer was a bit weak, but it was understandable to Martha since they had just come face to face with a monstrous monster like Z-Emperor pouch and actually managed to escape from it safely.

Martha walked to the door of the Captain's cabin and glanced at a girl with a red bandana tied to her head full of blonde hair.

"Rina, I have something I have to discuss with you."

Rina – the short-haired blonde girl in the red bandana, was lying limp on the floor of the ship when Martha called out to her, so she was a bit surprised and looked confused, before finally understanding what Martha was saying, and immediately saluted Martha and nodded.

"Yes, Boss!"

Rina immediately tried to stand up, but her legs were still weak due to the pressure of Z-Emperor pouch, so she immediately stumbled and buried her face into the wooden floor.

The other crew members laughed at her.

Rina quickly stood up again with a red face and walked towards Martha while trying hard to ignore the crew members who were laughing at her.

Martha chuckled before opening the door to the Captain's cabin, which was also her room, and brought Rina in.

Martha had Rina sit in a chair with a window before Martha herself went deeper into the Captain's cabin and brought a teapot filled with hot tea and two cups.

Martha placed one cup on Rina's front table and another in front of her before pouring tea into it.

Martha sipped the tea and banished the remaining fear within herself before starting to speak to Rina, who was holding the cup with both hands, and blowing it away.

"What do you think?"

'What' Martha asked was how the Ship was after they faced the Z-Emperor pouch attack in the eyes of a technician like Rina.

Rina immediately understood Martha's intention and stopped blowing her tea.

"Um... Actually, the damage to the hull was not too severe. Some pieces of board need to be replaced, but the rest are fine and just scratched."

Martha widened her eyes, "Really?"

Rina nodded, "Yes. Rather than the condition of the hull, actually our losses only revolve around the condition of the Cannon, which has suffered some damage due to us, and Ship's fuel only. There were no casualties on our side, so the situation is actually not bad at all."

"Is that so."

Martha smiled in relief and went back to drinking her tea.

Rina also smiled and blew her tea again before finally starting to drink it greedily after the tea was cold enough.

Martha leaned back on the chairs and stared at the chandelier on the ceiling.

"Tiony... Soon we will get our main technician again."

Martha said that with a faint smile on her face.

Rina nodded in agreement.

"That's right. If that's Tiony, she can definitely improve the condition of our Cannons."

Tiony is the leader of this Ship's Technician team with 3 members under her leadership, including Rina.

Before Tiony was captured by B, she was someone who would take care of all the important components of the Ship with her team.

She will replace or repair Ship components when needed with her team.

After Tiony was captured, the speed of the Ship's post-battle repairs became severely reduced.

In addition to the lack of technical knowledge from Rina and the other 2 members, they also don't have the Innate Skill that Tiony has.

Tiony has an Innate Skill that greatly helps her in analyzing engine damage with an Skill called {Crightful Gaze} that makes her able to see through anything.

Innate Skill are unique forms of power that will sometimes be randomly born from the Magic energy of an individual, whether Human, or Monster.

Just like Zen's {Darkness Grip}, Tiony's {Crightful Gaze} is also an Innate Skill even though the triggers that awakened the two Skills different.

One being who has awakened any Innate Skill when they are under 10 years old has no limit to the Innate Skill they can develop, but if they do not awaken any Innate Skill after exceeding the age of 10, then they will never be able to awaken any Innate Skill in their lifetime.

It was said that someone who had learned Magic would have a greater chance of awakening Innate Skill, but even if someone was a powerful accomplished Magician, it didn't mean they had Innate Skill.

Martha and Rina actually belong to a group that does not have Innate Skills.

Or rather, this group of pirates mostly did not have Innate Skill.

Martha looked at Rina doubtfully.

"Are you able to repair the Cannon without Tiony's help?"

Rina smiled.

"Nope."

Martha immediately flicked Rina's forehead.

"Ouch!"

"You useless Technician!"

Martha was a pretty strong swordsman, so

her fingers' snap left a red mark on Rina's forehead. Rina was sure her forehead would swell for some time because of it as she shouted in protest towards her unreasonable Captain.

"I'M A TECHNICIAN! The Cannon damage is that the Cannon casing is already too thin because it is eroded! It's not even related to the engine!"

All the crew, including an illegal passenger, were busy with their own affairs, but the Ship continued their journey and flew through a vast sea of clouds under the shade of blue sky that was at least, still beautiful, unlike the plains that had been polluted.

"It's Tiony who is too weird, not because I'm incompetent!"
