Lucas Carter wore a calm expression with a smile, looking entirely sincere and free of deceit.

Charlotte Cooper scrutinized him with suspicion but found no flaws.

"Since you've asked me so many questions, may I ask you a couple?"

Lucas looked at Charlotte very seriously, causing a certain wave of unease in her. She realized belatedly that she had slipped away without notifying anyone.

"I... I just wanted some fresh air. Didn't you just say it yourself? Switzerland is a great place. The quiet scenery isn't too bad."

"Does it only allow you to come here for the view and to unwind but not me?"

Charlotte lowered her head to pick up a small spoon, listlessly stirring her coffee to avoid Lucas's powerful gaze.

"Really?"

Charlotte nodded affirmatively, glanced at her wristwatch and said, "It's getting late. Thanks for everything today. I have to go."
