Chương 20: Episode 2 - Kind of Regret (11)
Red eyes just opened, revealing a world full of color. Her body is exhausted, even difficult to get up from the bed. She's surprised after seeing her feet filled with a lot of bandages.
"Are you awake?" Someone came into her room and bring a glass of water.
"Basil...What are you doing here? Where's my father?"
While pouring the water, "No need to think of the other. Drink this water, you must be thirsty."
"Thank...you..."
She gave me the water. Why would he be here? Didn't he have to keep Varest from...
"Huh? What happened to Varest? Are they both meeting already? Where are they now?"
"Don't you remember what happened last night?" Basil confused.
What happened last night? What happened? Didn't I just wake up?
"If you don't remember about last night. It's a secret." He put his finger in her mouth.
Vanessa seems angry with him. But his handsome face made her unable to do it. So, she throws a pillow at him. While he ran from her room with his laughing voice.
All-day she still doesn't know why her feet are full with wounds. Her father often came into her room. But Vanessa somehow does not want to see the face of her father for no reason.
"Get some rest, I will come back, Vanessa."
"Yes, father. Thank you."
My condition has been improving after a few days. It's just that I can't walk because my feet are full of wounds. So I use a wheelchair for a while. I still don't know why my feet are like this.
My wounds can't be healed because my vampire body immune is reduced. The Vampire could treat the wound itself quickly. The vampire body has immunity in order to avoid any disease. Surprisingly not mine, probably because I haven't fully recovered. That time I had too much deliver my power to him.
"Cough...Cough!"
Ah, I want to recover soon. I can not stand it anymore.
"Vanessa, are enjoying the view?"
"What are you doing here? Are supposed to be with Varest? Where is he?"
Basil sat down next to her.
"He was in his room. He was exhausted because of the practice sword."
Do you know what's funny? Varest looks avoiding me lately. I didn't get a chance to meet him some time ago. Tsk, I'll make him as my prey. But instead, he avoided me. Damn human, what a shame!
"Starting tomorrow, I can't teach him again. The Emperor asked me to go back to the main palace. He said he needed me for battle. Sorry, but I have promises to you that..."
"It's okay, Basil. It's okay. Do your duty as a knight." She answered quickly.
Our battle is coming. The human kingdom deal with big forces. The five countries become difficult to fight against the human land. Honestly, when will this war end? Isn't there something that can make humans lose?
"Fight and don't die, Your Highness."
She suddenly addressed him formally.
"You too, My Lady."
This is the last time they will be together. Basil, the next day is saying goodbye to the Grand Duke. He thanks the Grand Duke for letting him stay here. After that, he apologized again to Vanessa and kiss her forehead before he left.
His horse carriage speeding leaves the mansion. Vanessa did not stop waving her to his horse carriage. Inadvertently she glanced her eyes at the man next to her.
"Father, I know you still upset because I'm ignored you without reason. You are also angry after knowing that used my power too much. You care about me and worry about me. Father just doesn't want terrible things to come to his own daughter."
My father has lost two members of his family in an incident twenty years ago. His younger brother became a fugitive because of humans. Now his daughter is in the bad condition. I have crossed a limit for him.
"Miss Vanessa?"
She tried to get up from her wheelchair and walked slowly toward her Father. In the middle of it, she stopped. Respect for the graceful girl came.
"It's my fault, Your Grace. But please let me take care of him. I already know the risks and am ready to accept it."
What would you say? Are you gonna allow it?
"You have the other reason right?"
Vanessa lifted her head to see his face. He said again.
"The reason why you take care of him. At a glance, I knew why. Is Basil know about your reason...? It seems not."
The reason why I care for Varest and why he can attract my attention.
"Forgive me, Your Grace. That reason still hasn't been mentioned in a careless manner. Because it was a stupid and hilarious reason."
The words are quite complicated but he could understand the meaning behind it.
"Father...Varest is not just a regular kid. You will certainly be surprised if you see him later. I'm going to prove that the things that I do are not in vain. All of that came out from my mouth because I believe in him."
It is not difficult to get the blessing from my father. Same when I want to learn the sword. He forbade me because it was too dangerous. He didn't want his daughter on a bloody battlefield. If I remember well, I was learning the sword secretly with other people and showing it to my father, that I can do it.
"Your Grace...I'm Vanessa, as the daughter of the Grand Duke and the 2nd prince. I begged your pardon to allow me. Please allow me to keep him in this mansion." Vanessa knelt in front of him like a knight.
The kneeling position was given to the Grand Duke. Reminds him of a woman. Her gaze of red eyes is similar to a unique aura. The woman who has died twenty years ago instantly appears behind his daughter while nodding her head.
A smile from the woman behind Vanessa. The woman's shadow is not alone. There is the young man who nodded his head. They both look happy and go disappeared. A feeling of longing suddenly came to Lord Grand Duke heart
"Your brother and mother will be proud." He murmured.
I've been taking care of her alone for more than twenty years. Her age also has reached the age of a vampire adult. She's not a little girl anymore. Her small step has been a big step. My cute little daughter. It's now a graceful woman and begins to live her life independently.
"All right...do what you want to do. I believe in you, Vanessa. Be careful with your decision. Remember one thing. Regret will come at the end."
What kind of regret will she get?
