She slowly helped Ethan Ainsley sit down.
Lola Hussey straightened her back, scanned her surroundings, and said, "If there's nothing else, I'm going to leave now, you get some rest."
She thought she could leave just like that.
Ethan Ainsley suddenly pointed at the coffee table, "Could you peel an apple for me?"
Lola Hussey: ???
What the!
Did he get used to ordering her around?
Lola Hussey shook her head, "I'm a patient too, I can't take care of others, I need someone to take care of me."
Ethan Ainsley: "I only want you to peel an apple."
Lola Hussey still intended to refuse but before she could say anything.
"Cough...cough..."
He covered his chest, his face pallid, coughing again, his weak voice saying, "Then, don't bother."
Lola Hussey: "...."
How was she supposed to refuse that.
Although reluctant, for her conscience's sake, Lola Hussey still went to the coffee table, took an apple and peeled it for him.
She wasn't very skilled at it, she messed up a perfectly good apple, the peels she removed were thicker than her pinky finger.
When she finished peeling, the apple wasn't round anymore, it looked bizarre.
She handed it to Ethan Ainsley: "Here, eat."
Ethan Ainsley took the apple, looked at the bizarrely shaped apple, he furrowed his brows: "It's not peeled well."
A smile stretched across Lola Hussey's lips, slowly fading: "I did it out of kindness, and it's the first time I've peeled an apple for anyone. If you're not grateful, that's one thing, but you're complaining."
"I know." Ethan Ainsley said.
He knows?
What does he know?
Lola Hussey was confused.
Then, he extended his slender hand, gesturing for her to sit down: "Come, I'll teach you."
Lola Hussey was reluctant, thought it would be a hassle: "I'm injured, I should be resting."
"Come here." He repeated softly.
Lola Hussey thought he was rather annoying and difficult: "I don't want to talk to you anymore."
She turned around and left.
As she was just about to step out the door, she bumped into a nurse holding a medical record.
Seeing Lola Hussey coming out from Ethan Ainsley's hospital room, the nurse smiled and asked: "Are you Mr. Ainsley's relative?"
"No, no, no!" Lola Hussey shook her head, then pointed to the gauze wrapped around her head: "I'm a patient too, I'm staying in the next room. I just came to visit and I'm going back now."
"I see."
The nurse said to Lola Hussey: "I hope you can visit him often. Since Mr. Ainsley was hospitalized after the car accident, no one has come to visit him."
Lola Hussey unconsciously breathed lightly.
Ah?
Was Ethan Ainsley really that pitiful?
Lola Hussey thought about how after her accident, her assistant and agent took turns staying by her side.
Just yesterday, many reporters came to visit her.
No wonder Ethan Ainsley behaved the way he did earlier, he wanted her to stay a bit longer, yet she found him annoying and just left.
"Hmm, I got it."
Lola Hussey decided to go back to her own room first and asked Frankie Foster to prepare an extra serving of beef bone soup to give to Ethan Ainsley next time.
...
The nurse pushed the door and entered.
The man was currently closing his eyes, taking a small nap.
A face so refined as though it was crafted by God's hand, not a single flaw could be found. His lips were slightly pale, mixing a sense of sickness with beauty, enough to deeply captivate anyone in one glance.
When the nurse came in, she tried to stay light on her feet so as not to make noise and went over to Ethan Ainsley: "Mr. Ainsley, according to your instructions, no visitors are allowed in."
The man opened his eyes slowly as if dispelling the mist: "Arrange for me to be discharged on the same day as she is."
The nurse worriedly said: "Mr. Ainsley, your injuries are more serious than Miss Hussey's, you need to stay for a few more days."
As soon as she finished her words, she saw Ethan Ainsley's expression harden.
The nurse immediately nodded, "Okay, Mr. Ainsley."
