Another moment of silence dominated the room while their expressions turned gloomy. Except for Primo, who had no idea what Dominic was talking about for the most part, Dominic maintained a straight and solemn countenance.
'I've always thought my wife was easy to understand, but now I've understood her deeper,' Dominic thought, moving his gaze to everyone around the room. 'These people… her people only cared for her. It wouldn't be an exaggeration that she was the center of their world. I'm still unsure if this is the result of something she worked hard to make them as loyal as dogs, but what I'm sure of is that because of them… because of all of us… she never had the luxury to be selfish.'
It wasn't like their loyalty was a bad thing, but in a way, it wasn't entirely healthy.
