"You think doing this will make your mother proud? Well done, Silas. You've wasted all her efforts in giving you a better life and for you to not become like that monster who killed her — the same person who tried to kill an eight-year-old boy."
Silas and Dominic held each other's gazes with one bearing a cold expression and the other with a look of denial.
"You're lying." Silas shook his head in denial. "She isn't that foolish —"
"Do you really think Grandma will not punish that man for what he had done to your mother, to the family, and to her grandsons?!" This time, Dominic raised his voice for the first time. "Wake up, Silas. We both cannot forgive that man. That man made my life a living hell, making me believe I'm not safe even in the comfort of my own home. I've kept thinking he would be back to finish the job — you're not the only person that man betrayed, Silas."
