72.47% I reincarnated from a nobody to a.. dragon? / Chapter 79: A new dungeon discovery (6)

Chương 79: A new dungeon discovery (6)

I quickly reached the walls and jumped straight over it, catching a couple glances of the cursed corpses that were stationed there. This wasn't a problem since as soon as the saw me they died the next due to some thin needles made with my air magic that had been aimed at their brains and hearts.

Using [Mastered spacial awareness] I quickly found the location of all the mage class cursed corpses and made my way over to them. I was going directly to a tower that looked to be a part of some ruins but was clearly occupied. Using air magic underneath my feet, I made no sound as I darted across their base.

I infiltrated the tower, I quickly ran up the spiralling staircase and entered every room and discretely killed every being that occupied said rooms. The last room at the very top of the tower was the room of the mage.

I opened the door as quietly and quickly as I could before firing off a barrage of air arrows at the cursed corpse's vitals. The cursed corpses turned around as I did so and a barrier appeared before it. The small ring that held a blue gem in the centre burned to ash making the barrier disappear.

'They managed to get artifacts.' I thought as I leaped forwards and decapitated it before it could retaliate. The corpse, now sliced into two separate pieces, fell to the stone flooring with a thud.

I hovered the tip of my sword over its heart and stabbed through it and held my finger above its brain, shooting out a thin wind needle from the top of my finger.

'I don't think I told everyone that the cursed corpses can regenerate if you don't destroy their corrupt brain or hearts. I'm sure they could figure it out regardless.' I thought as I burnt the remains.

Cursed corpses are made from exactly what the name implies, corpses. The corpses could be from anything being a cat or a human, even things like dragons could become cursed corpses.

These corpses have only two places where if struck they can be killed. These two places are, as already stated, their corrupt brains or their hearts. I call them hearts but it's more of a mana core.

In dragons we store our mana in our hearts and the same goes for cursed corpses. Their hearts change forms though and become a red crystal which can shatter very easily, much like a slime. Dragons don't have that change happen to them though.

Once a corpse of any kind becomes a cursed corpse their brains will become corrupt making it that they cannot remember anything that happened in their life and only seek to kill other beings. This makes it so anyone who comes across them will instantly be targeted.

'If Jayden listens to me saying to be quiet and not draw attention then this base takeover should go fine but if not.. whatever. I'll deal with it later.' I thought as I opened the window at the far corner of the room and jumped out, using air magic beneath my feet to keep myself airborne.

With a small wind current propelling me from underneath my feet, I went zooming forwards towards the next location. There weren't too many mages in this base but it seemed they might all have artifacts. If that is the case then other cursed corpses that aren't of the mage class could have them as well. Depending on which artifact type they have this could either be relatively bad or extremely bad. This is also dependant on which grade of artifact it is.

If for example one had a high levelled attack artifact then it could deal lethal blows to even an S - rank adventurer. This though is depending on if the person or thing wielding this artifact can handle the power and has enough strength to use it. If they don't then the attack would either be severely weakened or kill the wielder.

Making haste, I drifted over to a small hut made of straw and wood. I landed on the roof, using air magic to not make a sound, and burnt a small area of the roof to enter from the top.

I dropped in and was directly above the cursed corpse. Adonis was positioned ready for the blade to smoothly decapitate yet another corpse.

This cursed corpse seemed to have a movement based artifact and used it to avoid my strike. The cursed corpse then created a magma bullet in its palm, aiming it at me. Since no one was around me other than this corpse I decided to use my new skill [Override].

I took hold of the enemies mana and made it my own, giving the mana a command of my own.

'Become mine, serve me. Destroy this corpse, cover it in your scorching body of magma. Burn it, infiltrate its body and melt its crystallised heart along with its brain. Don't stop until nothing of the corpse remains. Do so with minimal sounds.'

The mana, recognising my command, begun exactly as commanded. The magma did not fire off towards me as the corpse intended but sunk its way into the corpses palm. It spread through its mana veins and seeped into its blood causing both to explode. The corpse though was still alive. The magma then spread over the top of the corpses body like a blanked, covering its entirety and leaving a massive blob of hot, hard yet flowing magma.

I sensed the course in which the magma would kill the corpse so I knew each and every small movement it made.

The magma created small threads and seeped through the small gaps in the dry and rough skin before making its way to the heart and brain. The magma that flowed already inside the corpses body did the same.

After reaching the intended location it wrapped around the part targeted with a string like appearance before tightening. After tightening until they almost burst it expanded and covered the parts targeted in a thick blanked of magma, increasing its heat and melting them slowly.

The crystallised heart was first to go as it slowly decreased in size before shattering in small pieces that also melted afterwards. Then it was the corrupted brain. It turned to mush before completely burning away.

The magma changed its course and seeped outside the corpses body that no longer held some form of life and began melting the body to nothingness. After all this transpired the magma then seized to exist and became its 'pure' mana form, getting lost in the countless other threads of mana in the atmosphere.

'I'll try manipulating the mana when it's in its pure form when I'm back at the academy or somewhere that is private. I doubt this is possible but it could actually work seeing as I've already accomplished the impossible by taking control of others mana.' I thought as I exited the house from where I came.
