Chương 31: 30 naruto vs Temari
On the training ground, Naruto used the Shadow Clone Jutsu to summon his clones.
At this moment, Naruto stood face-to-face with Temari, who would later become Shikamaru's wife, recalling her abilities from the original story. Temari is skilled in Wind Style ninjutsu, wielding a large fan on her back capable of powerful Wind Style techniques.
While Naruto also excelled in Wind Style techniques, he was no match for the destructive power of Temari's fan. So, he decided to approach the battle differently—just like Shikamaru had done in the original story—by attacking from underground.
"Wind Style: Scythe Weasel!"
Temari was the first to act, removing her giant fan from her back, revealing a star emblem on it, and swinging it powerfully at Naruto.
"Wind Style: Hurricane!"
Not one to be outdone, Naruto unleashed a B-rank jutsu he had trained to mastery. His intention wasn't to confront Temari's Wind Style directly, though.
The two gusts of wind clashed, kicking up sand and debris all around the training ground, obscuring the vision of both combatants.
"Earth Style: Head-Hunter Jutsu!"
At that moment, hands suddenly emerged from the ground beneath Temari's feet, aiming to grab her ankles.
Temari, quick to react, leapt away. But Naruto had anticipated this. A Shadow Clone emerged from underground, kunai in hand, chasing after her.
Simultaneously, fifty other Shadow Clones surrounded Temari from below the ground, rapidly forming seals and shouting in unison:
"Wind Style: Hurricane!"
Fifty cyclones suddenly materialized, growing larger by the second, and surged toward Temari, trapping her in a whirlwind.
Temari was stunned. She never imagined a single person could summon fifty Shadow Clones and have them all execute B-rank Wind Style jutsu simultaneously.
She attempted to defend herself with her fan, but time was against her. Overwhelmed, she found herself experiencing what it felt like to be overpowered by Wind Style ninjutsu.
At that moment, a large amount of sand intervened in the hurricanes, shielding and pulling Temari out.
Naruto turned to see Gaara standing not far away, a smirk forming on his face, eager to test himself against him.
But remembering that if Gaara released Shukaku, the One-Tail, it might interfere with the Konoha Crush Plan, he suppressed his urge to fight.
Naruto then glanced over at Sasuke and Kankuro, who were still locked in battle. Sasuke's relentless Fire Style and Lightning Style clashed with Kankuro's puppet techniques.
The sheer force of Naruto's Wind Style had caught Sasuke's attention, making him feel defeated yet again. His face darkened with frustration.
Kankuro, on the other hand, was astonished. He hadn't expected his strong-willed sister, Temari, to lose to a Konoha genin so quickly.
"What a disgrace to the village—both of you!" Gaara said coldly, looking at Temari and Kankuro with disdain.
He then shifted his gaze to Naruto, asking, "You there, the blond kid. What's your name?"
Naruto grinned and replied, "Uzumaki Naruto."
For a moment, both Gaara and Sasuke fell silent, irritation creeping onto their faces.
"Don't you want to know my name?" Gaara asked Naruto, while Sasuke turned to Gaara and asked the same question.
Naruto burst out laughing and said to Gaara, "Not interested."
Hearing this, Kankuro and Temari immediately grew tense, worried that Gaara might snap.
Gaara stared coldly at Naruto for a moment, a menacing aura emanating from him. Finally, he suppressed his rage, but his voice was icy as he said, "In the next Chūnin Exams, I will kill you. Remember this name: Gaara, the sleepless boy of Sunagakure."
He then turned and walked away.
Meanwhile, atop Mount Myōboku, Jiraiya knelt before the Great Toad Sage, confused by the urgency of the summons.
"Toad Sage, what's the matter? Why did you call me so suddenly?" Jiraiya asked.
The Great Toad Sage opened his ancient eyes and said urgently, "Jiraiya, the new Child of Prophecy has appeared, but he is heading down a dark path. You must find him and guide him!"
"Who is this Child of Prophecy, and where can I find him?" Jiraiya asked.
"He is in Konoha Village, and his name is Naruto," the Toad Sage replied.
"Naruto? That name sounds familiar. Isn't that the name of the protagonist in one of my novels?" Jiraiya asked skeptically, thinking the Toad Sage might be mistaken.
"Idiot!" the Toad Sage exclaimed, "Have you forgotten Minato's son?"
Realization dawned on Jiraiya. "Oh, right! Minato's kid… I remember now!"
Jiraiya had last seen Naruto as a baby, after the Nine-Tails attack that claimed Minato's life. It had been twelve years since he'd visited Konoha.
Reflecting on Minato, whom he had once believed to be the Child of Prophecy, Jiraiya felt a pang of regret. Minato's death in battle had proved otherwise, leaving Jiraiya disheartened for years. Who would have thought that Minato's son would bear the mantle instead?
Determined, Jiraiya thumped his chest confidently. "Don't worry, Toad Sage. With me as his teacher, he'll be on the right path in no time!"
With that, Jiraiya departed in haste.
After Jiraiya left, the Toad Sage sighed heavily. Shima and Fukasaku, the elder toads, looked at him in concern.
"Toad Sage, did you have another vision? What did you see this time?" they asked.
The Toad Sage's voice was grave. "I saw the world heading toward destruction. Even the Three Great Sacred Grounds won't be spared."
"What?!" the elder toads gasped in unison. "Our holy sites have endured for thousands of years, avoiding countless calamities. Could it really end this time?"
The Toad Sage closed his eyes, saying no more, leaving only a heavy silence in his wake.
