Yang Feng rubbed his chin and asked, "What are you going to choose?"
Yang Lan scratched her head, saying. "Brother, I'm not sure. Little Black says he'll have both attack and defense skills, plus he'll boost my spiritual power. I'll also be able to use Time power freely, unlike others who can only control one aspect of time. I guess I could choose Commander too."
Yang Feng's lips twitched. And Little Black will also have the Space attribute in the future. He thought about it for a moment. So, having just one pet doesn't really limit Little Lan's combat power much.
He advised her, "Little Lan, you should choose what you like. I won't tell you what to do."
After that, Yang Feng started thinking about his own choice. I have Silken Thread, so I could become a Controller. But I can also contract more pets, so I could diversify my team. He was just as conflicted as Yang Lan. Should I pick a specific class or go for an all-rounder?
He asked Cody for advice, but Cody mercilessly refused to give him any, using the same words Yang Feng had said to Yang Lan.
Yang Feng finally came to a conclusion. I should go for an all-rounder route, but focus mainly on being a Controller.
I'll need at least nine pets if I reach level 9, so this could work.
"I'll tell Teacher I want to become a Controller," he decided.
Yang Feng and Yang Lan spoke at the same time, "I have decided."
They both blinked, then said together again, "You go first."
Yang Lan burst into laughter.
The surrounding students eyed them with some hostility and jealousy. The girls directed their hostility at Yang Lan, while the boys directed it at Yang Feng. After all, they didn't have powerful relics, but they were both attractive—Yang Feng in particular.
Yang Feng smiled as well. After laughing, Yang Lan spoke again, this time alone, "Let's do this. We'll say it at the same time. What do you say, brother?"
Yang Feng nodded, and after Yang Lan's countdown—"Three, two, one"—they both said their choices out loud:
Yang Feng: "Controller." Yang Lan: "Commander."
Both were stunned to realize they had chosen the same thing.
Yang Lan showed a worried expression. "Maybe I should change my choice. I want to fight alongside you."
She knew Yang Feng's first skill, so she thought he couldn't change his class.
But Yang Feng rubbed her head. "I'll ask Teacher Rong."
Ignoring the hostile stares from the other students, both male and female, he walked over to Teacher Rong.
Rong Mei, who had been working on her laptop, looked up when she heard Yang Feng. "Teacher, can there be two Commanders in the same group?"
Rong Mei responded, "There can't be two Commanders. As their name suggests, Commanders give instructions and direct the battle. If there are two, whose orders would the team follow?"
Yang Feng felt disappointed but asked, "But..."
Rong Mei continued, "However, there can be a Controller and a Commander. The Commander would take charge, and the Controller would follow their orders."
She paused for a moment. "Though, theoretically, a Controller is superior to a Commander, since they can do both. But if both are in the same team, the Controller will follow the Commander's lead."
Yang Feng's eyes lit up—he would be a Controller, and Yang Lan would be a Commander!
He thanked Teacher Rong and returned to Yang Lan, explaining what she had told him.
Twenty minutes passed quickly, and Rong Mei handed out a stack of papers to the nearest student, instructing them to distribute it.
"These are your forms. You need to fill out your name, student ID, chosen category, and your pets."
She continued, "If you've already selected your teams, staple the forms together and submit them all at once. If not, I'll assign teams randomly."
"One last thing: only four students can be Wardens, so there can't be more than one Warden per team."
Yang Feng and Yang Lan quickly filled out their forms and stapled them together. As for the other members, they decided to follow Teacher Rong's allocations.
Five minutes later, everyone had submitted their forms. Rong Mei didn't even glance at them; instead, she immediately assigned the teams. To everyone's surprise, the teams were perfectly aligned with the students' preferences.
In Yang Feng's team were:
Yang Lan: Commander
Yang Feng: Controller
Karishma: Attacker
Dou Dou: Attacker
Xiao Pang: Warden
Yang Feng's team consisted of three Celestial Relics Resonators, one Arcane Relic Resonator, and one Beast Tamer.
Rong Mei dismissed the class, saying, "In two hours, you'll head to the battle arena for your next class. Now, go."
Everyone left the class in an orderly manner, joining their respective groups.
Karishma, Dou Dou, and Xiao Pang approached Yang Feng and Yang Lan. Karishma was polite, while Dou Dou was shy. Xiao Pang, on the other hand, was a total chatterbox, and all he could talk about was food.
"Hey, let's go to the canteen. I'm starving. We can chat there," he said, his face looking miserable as he stroked his round stomach.
Yang Feng didn't refuse; after all, he and Yang Lan had been surviving on nutrition fluids for the past three days.
As for Yang Lan, she had been freeloading with Tang Jia, with whom she'd become friends over the past few days.
Xiao Pang led the group toward the cafeteria, looking completely familiar with the way.
His agility didn't match his size at all, and Yang Feng was stunned to see him moving with such speed.
Yang Lan chuckled. "Brother Feng, don't you know? If you want to see fat people's agility, you can only see it when food is involved."
Yang Feng nodded as the other two girls laughed.
Meanwhile, Xiao Pang's mind was entirely focused on food.
After ten minutes, they reached the cafeteria building. They entered to find a large hall with tables and chairs, with a massive food counter at the far end. It was a buffet-style setup.
Xiao Pang scanned his watch at the counter, paying for all five of them, and then jumped into line. Yang Feng and the others followed suit.
When Yang Feng saw the food options, he was astonished at how expensive everything was. He picked up his meal in a daze, but it was clear everything was ridiculously priced. The menu included:
Starters: Crispy Wyvern Wings
Main Course: Hunter's Forest Stew, Golden Scaled Fish, Dragon's Breath Stir-fry, Ember Jade Fried Rice
Dessert: Cloud Custard Tart
Beverage: Elderberry Juice
Yang Feng and the others took reasonable portions of everything to try. They looked around to find an empty seat and saw Xiao Pang waving them over.
However, when they saw the mountain of food piled in front of him, they quickly turned their heads and ignored him. They found a table far from Xiao Pang and sat down.
