The pieces of stone flew like a shower of comets throughout the forest. It was a race to death, to survive the sudden series of explosions that seemed to be chasing them.
Dave and Tenma only thought about where to flee. Tenma, shocked and not wanting to waste time dying again, let himself be guided by the squirrel, who held onto his fur to lead and pull him in the direction they needed to go.
They zigzagged through trees, dodging rocks of all sizes.
Tenma, trying to understand what was happening, attempted to ask the squirrel, while it pulled his fur to the left to avoid a fox den.
Dave would comment on a strange human who was constantly exploding things around them. But unfortunately, Tenma remembered that he couldn't understand other animals, only hearing the squirrel's chirps.
Apparently, other animals could understand him, but it was still a mystery to him why he was born with such strange conditions in that world.
But he couldn't stop to think with a huge explosion behind them, sending them flying and landing in a river!
Tenma felt the water enter his ears and snout, swimming to the surface to avoid drowning. He tried to calm himself by taking a breath, but realized that the squirrel was nowhere in sight. The river was carrying them towards rocks that would clearly hit them hard.
He tried to swim against the current, but couldn't.
It was when Tenma entered into desperation. The morning had been too calm for the day to end well.
His weak legs due to hunger didn't help him much to stay above water. The only good thing was that he was getting away from those explosions.
But he realized something even worse. If he drowned, he would be dead forever. If he drowned, he wouldn't regenerate, and even if he needed it, he would still drown again.
He couldn't let the current take him to his end in this precious life!
He was getting closer and closer to crashing against the rocks. He stretched out his front paws at the last moment to grab onto something, but ended up very injured as he bounced back and forth between them.
But he managed it, holding on to one with all his strength.
He was just about to fall down a waterfall. It would be his end, but he definitely didn't want to die like that. He was a weak creature, and he recognized it. He could never do anything in that state, he had only been used as a weapon and shield, and he couldn't have the peaceful life he wanted so much.
Tenma began to beg for his life, barking to the air for help.
"Please! I'll do anything. Don't let me die! God!"
He tried to find some hope by trying to locate some divine being, but clearly no one would listen to him.
"Mik-Mik...!"
Tenma opened his eyes, somewhat teary. Someone would be pulling him by his paw. A small animal, which he didn't know why it would even be helping him.
It was Dave.
The squirrel was pulling on the puppy's paw, who was nervously squealing. The squirrel wouldn't let the puppy fall no matter what, he was just a puppy to have to die so young, so he thought.
But it was just a squirrel, and its strength wouldn't be enough. And to its misfortune, it would end up being dragged along with the current alongside the puppy.
Both falling to the bottom of the waterfall, in a certain death.
