Yin Shu is beyond amazed. This is too heaven-defying! In fact, Yin Shu is having doubts about what she is seeing, but what is the harm in trying? With a thought, she picked a class and subclass she deemed close to her heart.
After that, she immediately picks a moniker that she finds true and simple to her heart.
[11th Royal Princess (Yin Shu)
Class: Healer (Level 11)
Subclass: Bard (Rank F)]
"Shan Yusin, what classes did you choose?" Addressing her bodyguard, Yin Shu asked curiously what classes her bodyguard chose.
"Your wish is my command! Tell me princess what should I choose!"
"That is up to you, feel free to pick your classes. My level seems to be one, and my Bard rank seems to be F… Tell me what is yours."
Shan Yusin solemnly nods as she picks the classes she finds suitable for her.
[Martial Royal Guard (Shan Yusin)
Class: Warrior (Level 62)
Subclass: Bodyguard]
"Young lady, what is this? I feel a mystical power enveloping me, and a subclass called 'Bodyguard' automatically filled my Subclass slot… Moreover, I am level 62."
While Shan Yusin is busy with her classes, Yin Shu is already skimming the tutorial guide that was recommended by her system. She made quick strides in learning what this illusory light called the system is…
"It looks like levels are the same as our cultivation levels. I don't have any cultivation except the raw qi I have from drinking too many elixirs, so I am level 11, but you are at 3rd stage so you have some levels in you… We have to learn this tutorial guide fast!"
"Yes, princess…"
Accompanying the princess in learning the tutorial guide is her bodyguard. It could be observed that all of the people are learning their way through the system. Some like the princess are avidly reading the tutorial guide. Some do it through experimentation. While some, just goes with it by asking, interviewing, and debating with others.
To Yin Shu's limited understanding, the system will give them classes that they, the players, can nurture by fighting and slaying other creatures. The more their classes grow, the more their cultivation bases will grow. This means that talent is almost irrelevant in their cultivation!
This means Yin Shu can cultivate without any trouble.
"Princess, should we try hunting some beasts… It looks like the Butterberry forest has plenty of them. They are at the 3rd stage though so it might be difficult for you… How about I cripple a single beast then I'll have you land the final blow?"
It seemed that Shan Yusin is quickly learning the ways of the system, and thus made, an unconscious suggestion of how buses assist lower-level players.
"I agree… That would be great. You don't have to worry about my life though as it seemed that we will have the power of resurrection… But it looks like there is a waiting time of one week for every death…"
Shan Yusin has also read this part about resurrection. Shan Yusin still remained doubtful of its veracity. It is better if they wait for this part to be confirmed by the others.
"For now, let's meet the Sect Mast— no, the Game Master— let's meet the Game Master first…" Yin Shu decidedly pointed at the grand palace.
As they approach the stairs, however, the two found themselves in quite a pickle.
[Level Requirement: Level 41]
Shan Yusin has no problem walking the stairs, but it's different for Yin Shu. An invisible force seemed to be stopping her from moving forward. The other people seemed to also have the same problems as they try to get past the stairs.
"Princess, we should increase your level first."
At her bodyguard's suggestion, Yin Shu finally nodded her head in agreement.
The two approached the Butterberry forest and made their way to hunting beasts.
"Princess, I caught a boar! It looks like to be on 1st stage, we are lucky!"
Lucky indeed. From what Shan Yusin can tell, the Butterberry forest seemed to be teeming with 3rd stages so catching a first stage is quite a boon.
Shan Yusin offered her sword to Yin Shu. "Princess, use this!"
Yin Shu carried the sword with her little arms. With all her might, she stabbed the boar. A red bar indicating its health appeared above the boar reduces itself by a minor adjustment. Only a small amount of health was depleted from the boar.
After an hour of hard work of Shan Yusin pinning the boar by hugging it, and the princess tirelessly stabbing it, they finally achieved their first kill.
Yin Shu felt her body getting stronger and more revitalized. It was a miraculous phenomenon. She is getting stronger. "Let's hunt for more." She ordered her bodyguard.
Shan Yusin led the way, and Yin Shu followed. This time, they weren't as lucky as this time, they encounter 3rd stage one after another. As they were about the same stage, Shan Yusin can hardly pin them and accidentally kills them instead.
Yin Shu's contribution is so little that the Exp points she is earning are just as little, it was terrible.
Unknowingly, Shan Yusin is smiling happily as she received her first level up on the 10th beast she slayed today. "Princess, I have gained one level! I have become stronger! Awesome!"
From that point on, Shan Yusin almost forgot her role as a bus.
"Hey, Shan Yusin… You are not feeding me enough…"
"Eh? Ah~ sorry princess!"
It was already night when Shan Yusin recognized her fault. With a sad look, the two returned to the 'Immortal City' from whence they came.
It has been months since Yin Shu joined the pilgrimage, and the rough lifestyle that came along with it didn't bother her. In fact, she seemed to be adapting quite well to the harsh lifestyle. Now, however, the rough life on the road has stopped.
Returning to the supposed-to-be 'Immortal City', Yin Shu is surprised to see a lot of changes. It was the middle of the night and a large bonfire fenced around stones occupied the center of the wide clearing.
This is not the most notable sight, however, as some huts littered the place for some distance.
That night, the poor princess slept a more comfortable night. It is weird enough that a princess was able to endure the whole pilgrimage, so sleeping in an environment like this is nothing to be surprised at.
Morning comes, and this time, the princess resolved to gain the Exp points she desperately needed with her Bodyguard's assistance. Last night, she kind of did a bit of a late-nighter as she read more of the tutorial guide.
Accompanying her in the hunt is her bodyguard. This time, they are a bit luckier as they came upon a second-stage beast. Shan Yusin easily subdued it, the serpent was helpless as it was pinned by its tail with the sword.
"Princess, do it!"
Carrying a plain iron dagger they bought from some guy back in the Immortal City, Yin Shu made one swift stab at the serpent only to discover that the Exp she earned was still so little. Yin Shu thought that she'd finally earn a bout of Exp!
Checking the 'Logs', she realized where the problem is coming from. It looked like her Bodyguard's damage value outclasses her. Yin Shu recalled the many hunts yesterday and realized that maybe hunting with Shan Yusin might not be productive.
"Shan Yusin, from now on, let me hunt on my own!"
"But I am your bodyguard!"
"It is fine, I am confident of this system!"
"Do you want to rely on the resurrection? It hasn't been confirmed yet, there are already some guys who volunteered! Wait for a week, and we'd do this the riskier way."
After a back and forth, the two finally came to a compromise. Shan Yusin will first fight the beast, immobilize it, and then leave it to Yin Shu! Yin Shu reigned her impatience and let Shan Yusin do her job as a bodyguard.
The first beast they encountered is a 2nd stage gorilla. Shan Yusin killed the gorilla.
The second beast they encountered is a 2nd stage feral lone wolf. Shan Yusin killed the wolf.
The third beast they encountered is a 3rd stage sly fox. Shan Yusin killed the fox.
The fourth beast they encountered is an unreasonable peak 3rd stage duck. Shan Yusin killed the duck.
All of those beasts are a good source of Exp points, and all of them got slaughtered by Shan Yusin. Yin Shu is slowly getting impatient as her bodyguard gets fatter with Exp. The fifth beast they encountered is a 3rd stage bear. This time, Shan Yusin finally succeeded in immobilizing the bear.
Its tendons are cut and it only has one move, to lunge forward with its explosive strength. Other than that, it can no longer make any move. It cannot even walk. Blindly lunging forward is the best it can do.
Yin Shu fought the bear with carefulness. Yin Shu got tired after attacking the beast for almost a couple of hours. There is still four-tenth of its health left. Yin Shu rested her tired arms. She hasn't always been a warrior or a cultivator.
But if given the chance, she will choose to become one. In a cultivation world, a person without cultivation is not worth mentioning. Yin Shu painfully learned this in the Royal Palace.
With impressive resolve, she proceeded on attacking the bear… If she does manage to kill a 3rd stage this way, Yin Shu can only imagine the amount of Exp she can earn.
Sadly, life is not all about rainbows and sunshine. Destroying all of her dreams of a massive level-up is a white bunny descending with its mighty fork. With one swift motion, the bunny did its first-ever steal-kill…
Yin Shu blankly looked at the bunny's fading silhouette. She turned around only to see a manure-covered Shan Yusin.
"What happened to you?"
"I fell into a rabbit hole…"
