"It doesn't make sense, why? WHY!? WHY ARE THEY SO STRONG?"
Ju Guowei doesn't understand. He could accept it if a couple of 1st and 2nd stage cultivators fending off a horde of 1st stage corpses. But a 3rd stage?
The two's synergy is certainly commendable, but there is still too much of a gap.
Observing through the Dead's Spying Eye, Ju Guowei recognized the swordsman's weapon to be extraordinary. "Such a waste! For a mere 2nd stage to have a weapon like that is beyond disappointing."
While it is true that a corpse of the same stage is not as strong as it originally was, it is still 3rd stage.
"Maybe it is because of that." Ju Guowei chewed the tips of his fingertips in anxiety recalling the empty and damaged Dantian of the 3rd stage corpse. "And here I thought, I found a treasure."
…
Nee Chen received all of the attacks with calm. Elder Fu was a sword cultivator, and as it is now, being weaponless, dead, and mindless can only take it as far as squaring with Nee Chen.
It is ironic how Elder Fu would die against his own sword… When Nee Chen saw the undead elder, he can only think of killing him. But with Xiang Ya volunteering, that changes things.
EQUIP!
Nee Chen sheathed and unsheathed his sword. The act itself is a kind of ritual to activate his Equip skill.
BOOST!
Nee Chen brought his sword's blunt side to Elder Fu with weight and power. The impact caused elder Fu's bones to break. Losing his stance, elder Fu starts to falter.
Xiang Ya immediately acted on this as she casts her martial spell, Barrier, beside elder Fu. Straining her qi to the limits, Xiang casts more of this barrier. Quickly a qi barrier of pure nature enveloped the now undead elder Fu.
Xiang Ya squeezed her palms, reflecting the very qi barrier surrounding her dear grandfather. Reduced into a bloody mess of meat. The elder that they knew and loved was no more.
Pale and sweating, Xiang Ya dropped to her knees. There is still too much undead, but that doesn't deter Nee Chen.
"Xiang Ya, I will handle the rest…"
"I will be waiting for you… on the Desolate Mountain." Xiang Ya lovingly said as she took a dagger from her sash and stabbed her heart with it.
…
Ju Guowei nervously sweated as he watched the girl commit suicide. Do they think too little of life? He started thinking… Maybe these people aren't from any righteous sect… Only cultivators of the wicked sect would have their subordinates commit suicide just like that…
The values of a wicked sect are considered wicked for a reason… It is evil, selfish, and doesn't think too highly of morality…
But is there really a wicked sect here in the Biron kingdom?
Sure, there might be wicked cultivators… But wicked sects? No, that's impossible as the Biron Kingdom is under the flag of the Templars, an organization deifying the heavens.
As the Templars are a religious organization with strong despise for the wicked cultivators, it is impossible for any wicked sect to thrive in this kingdom.
If the world learns of the Bone Devouring Sect's presence here in the Biron kingdom, the Templars would surely send their Knight Templars to investigate this... and even go as far as to send armies. Suddenly in the blink of an eye, Ju Guowei's Dead's Spying Eye died.
"H-how!? He is just a cultivator in the 2nd stage. It is impossible for him to see the eye!"
"It is because the system has the Art of Appraisal. This particular skill doesn't belong to any class, but its utility and power speak enough of how great this art is."
Ju Guowei turns his head to the voice. "You fucking piece of shit!"
His desire to fight blazed in his heart. Ju Guowei rushed at him with a sword stretched from his hand. With a single slash, he believes that he can expose the pony in front of him. "Your lies won't work on me!"
With his sword empowered and enveloped with his qi, Ju Guowei struck.
Instead of his sword quickly finding its way to Nee Chen's throat, it got intercepted. Ju Guowei's wrists felt numb from the impact. Ju Guowei's skills with the sword are third-rate at best as it didn't stop Nee Chen's sword from forcing its way forward.
A long gash spread from Ju Guowei's chest causing red blood to splatter everywhere.
Ju Guowei is a cowardly man, and he is one who knows when to stop if the situation calls for it. Knowing that he is outclassed, he decided to escape.
Nee Chen helplessly watched Ju Guowei escape. Nee Chen doesn't really have any strength and qi anymore. He only has barely to sustain his footing. The Execute skill is really a merciless skill. While it is powerful, it doesn't give him any leeway after using the skill.
'Execute' is truly a life and death skill.
…
Ju Guowei continues running forward without looking back. As he increases some distance, he realizes no one is pursuing him. Did that cultivator just spare him? For this, he is neither grateful nor annoyed.
If that was really a wicked cultivator, then there must be a reason why he didn't pursue him. It must be that the man himself doesn't find any worth in pursuing him. Though that man's companion died because of his zombies, it wouldn't really matter to him… With that man being a wicked cultivator taken into account, it would only be logical for Ju Guowei to think like this.
Ju Guowei cannot imagine that the guy actually just lost all of the qi he has with him.
As he was running without a direction in mind, Ju Guowei accidentally came upon Desolate Mountain. If he read the woman's words correctly in the images sent by the Dead's Spying Eye, the Desolate Mountain must have a connection with a wicked sect.
This is big news. If the Bones Devouring Sect is not the only wicked sect in the Biron Kingdom, their own sect can use this information to its advantage. Whatever evil sect is hiding in the Desolate Mountain, they can use it as a decoy.
For now, Ju Guowei has to escape to deliver this valuable information.
Suddenly, a bunny finds itself in his path.
Ju Guowei freezes as behind this bunny is a familiar woman, the same person who committed suicide moments ago. "H-how? How are you still alive?"
"Kyu!" Bi Yuan chirped aware that she is being ignored.
Ju Guowei realizes that the bunny has a cultivation base of her own… This makes him more panicky as that could only mean that the bunny is a sacred beast! Ju Guowei sees the bunny as only 2nd stage, a stage below him, but he doesn't dare look down on it just like he did against the mysterious man who cuts up his chest.
With swift steps, Ju Guowei backs away from the two. He recalled the woman beside the bunny possessing strange means of utilizing qi. It was as if she can solidify space with qi as represented by how his refined corpse at the 3rd stage was squeezed to death.
Xiang Ya eerily smiles.
"Marvelous~! To think that you are still alive… Ha ha ha! I will surely make a good work of you."
At Xiang Ya's words, Ju Guowei pales in horror, but he is helpless… Now, he can only attack, and so he did. He lunges with his best speed.
SPIRIT SHACKLES!
But Ju Guowei cannot even take a step more as he feels his spirit being shackled by something heavy. In an instant, the metaphorical guilt and shame become physical and attacked him. He is immobilized in his place.
Bi Yuan who is supposed to be just a bunny exudes a bloodthirst that reminded Ju Guowei of his seniors.
SACRED ASH!
White light gathers only to scatter in a funnel directly erasing Ju Guowei's lower half. His legs were literally no more. Flopping with his chest on the ground, he fearfully looked at the bunny.
Using his arms, Ju Guowei desperately crawled away from the two of them.
Xiang Ya stepped over him, and with a gentle smile, she used her Martial Tempering realm strength to crush Ju Guowei's shoulders. With her foot, she stomped on his shoulders until his arms are no longer moving.
Ju Guowei is literally a cripple now.
"Don't worry, I am a kind person… I didn't take away your ability to move to hurt you… It is so that I can help you…" With her kind smile without any trace of fakeness, she exudes this sense of nobility on her.
Ju Guowei doesn't know what to say at this unreasonableness of his enemy.
Xiang Ya puts her arm on the wound that Nee Chen made, and then she used her martial spell, Heal!
Slowly, qi gathers on Ju Guowei's chest. Ju Guowei can feel his wounds healing, and with an awed look, he cannot believe the miracle in front of him. Restorative martial skills aren't so rare… but the people who are willing to forgive their enemies and use restorative spells on them… Now, that is rare…
A kind of faith starts forming in Ju Guowei as he reverently looks at Xiang Ya. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" He repeatedly says his words of gratitude like a broken record.
Suddenly the qi healing his grievous injury stopped gathering. Confused, Ju Guowei looks at Xiang Ya only for him to see her leering smile.
"I am really sorry... Looks like I don't have enough qi…" Xiang Ya's words are bleeding with mocking sarcasm. She didn't lie though, she doesn't really have any more qi.
"I'll be honest, for a 3rd stage, you are quite weak. That Zha Dong guy at least has some strength. Even without a cultivation base, I bet he'd beat you black and blue. Sigh… This what happens when you rely on corpses…" Xiang Ya enjoys the feeling of basking on the despaired face of Ju Guowei.
"How was it? To reach the highest point in your life only to fall so much in despair?"
With her same kind smile, Xiang Ya peacefully watches the crying, grieving, and screaming Ju Guowei until all that is left is an unmoving corpse.
Happy Valentines!
I won't be posting any regular chapter any time soon, but hey, it's valentines.
