Charles was speaking to her but she didn't hear a word he said.
Even when Alexander drew nearer, she didn't notice at once, as she usually would.
All her mind was filled with was the familiar smell of blood and the increasing intensity of obscure sensations.
She went to the spot where Mane York had collapsed earlier. The smell of blood was stronger there.
The familiar sensation gradually triggered fragmented memories in her mind, several images flashed before her eyes, bringing with them a sense of uncertainty.
"Is something wrong?" Alexander asked.
"No, I will tell you when I am sure," she responded.
"What's with the whispers? The weather's nice today, let's go out and have some fun." Charles Carrington suggested.
Chloe Collins glanced at him but she was in deep thought.
"Is there something wrong with me?" Charles asked, unsettled by her gaze.
Alexander clarified, "She's not looking at you, she's thinking."
Charles retorted, "She's clearly looking at me!"
