Chương 3: Chapter 3 Do you want me to grow old alone if you don't want me?
Upon mentioning that child, a stabbing pain rattled Amelia Foster's heart and hatred filled her eyes. She scoffed and sneered coldly, "You're blaming me? By what right? As soon as my family was in a bind, you couldn't wait to marry the Director's daughter. You were faster than lightning. And I, your girlfriend who was carrying your child, only found out we had broken up when I received your wedding invitation. Heh..."
As she spoke, she laughed bitterly, "Daniel Cooper, you left me and married someone else without uttering a word. Do you want me to bear your child and be your mistress? While your wife is pregnant, why can't I find another man? You don't want me, do I have to keep myself pure for you, spending my entire life alone and unloved? Based on what, tell me?"
Daniel hadn't expected her to joke about the matter so insouciantly, as if all the anger and disappointment that had been pent up in his heart these two years were rendered meaningless.
His face was as cold as frost as he nodded slightly, "If that's the case, why did you come looking for me?"
As soon as he had finished, he turned and headed towards the front door.
Amelia kept her eyes on the back of the man as he left without a second glance. She gritted her teeth and chased after him, stopping him before he entered, "Daniel Cooper, believe it or not, I can raise a scene in your home right now. I can reveal your actual character in front of your wife and tell her how you still can't forget your ex."
The man glanced at her and his gaze was so calm and cold that there wasn't a hint of a ripple. He was looking at her as if she were a complete stranger. He scoffed quietly, "If you have the guts, go ahead."
After saying that, as if he couldn't be bothered to deal with her any longer, Daniel turned and entered through the large door.
Cold winds carried fleeting wisps of rain, causing people to freeze from the blood up to their bone marrow.
Standing in the rain, Amelia watched as his heartless and indifferent figure disappeared. A hint of self-mocking laughter appeared on her face.
She had been too naive, thinking that he might have some lingering feelings from their past relationship. Now the thought made her laugh. If he had been a man with a heart, he wouldn't have so resolutely abandoned her and their child in the first place.
She got back into her car and took out her phone from her bag, calling Anna Foster.
"Sis, I remember that you were high school classmates with Daniel Cooper's wife, could you arrange for us to meet?"
Anna sounded surprised, "You want to meet Lana Parker? But considering your past relationship with Daniel Cooper... Is it appropriate for you to meet?"
Amelia pressed at her throbbing temple, "I couldn't reach an agreement with Daniel Cooper and I have no other options. I don't care about the terms anymore."
Lana's father had a high-ranking position. If she was willing to help, Daniel would have to give face.
Anna hesitated for two seconds, "Okay, I'll try to arrange it for you."
"As soon as possible."
...
Anna was very efficient. The meeting was settled by the next day at a high-end tea room.
The rain had been pouring nonstop for two days. The traffic was extremely congested during rush hour and Amelia was more than half an hour late when she finally got there.
She had just parked her car when she saw Anna coming out of the tea room with a woman dressed luxuriously. Were they leaving because she was late?
She quickly went over, about to apologize when Anna gave her a warning glance.
She asked, puzzled, "What's the problem, Sis?"
Before Anna could reply, Lana Parker suddenly looked at her, "Are you Anna's assistant?"
Only then did Amelia remember that she was wearing a mask because she had caught a cold after being out in the rain yesterday. The woman probably didn't recognize her.
She was just about to say no when the woman squinted at her and asked, "Did you drive here?"
