Chương 14: Chapter 13 - The Balance Shifts

Grigori is an organization created by Azazel and the Fallen Angels who fell with him from the Fifth Heaven; they were also called "The Watchers of the Children of God" (in other words, the "Sacred Gear" possessors), and arguably represent the Fallen Angel "mainstream." The members of Grigori include exiled Church members and Sacred Gear wielders that Azazel and the other members kept as their respected members; for example, these members are Tobio and Vali. Grigori invites or takes in possessors of Sacred Gears that have no family and are left alone, looking after these Sacred Gear possessors while training them on how to use their powers, turning them into experienced possessors to remain within the organization.

During the Great War, Grigori was the first to retreat after losing most of their forces, except for their leaders. Since then, Azazel has become more peaceful and tries to avoid battles as much as possible. However, small fights between the Fallen Angels and other factions still did not reach Azazel's knowledge.

Azazel was having a somewhat bad day. A few weeks ago a pulse of raw holy power the likes of which haven't been felt since the Great War leaked from heaven. Many of his people suspected an impending attack...but nothing, which is worse. It had everyone on high alert.

Every faction outside The Trinity was watching in amusement at the situation. He hadn't been able to enjoy a woman's touch in WEEKS. A sigh escaped the Governor General of the Fallen.

Suddenly Penemue a dark-blue-haired fallen with a sinful curvy body, that the pantsuit she was wearing could barely contain, walked in.

"What is it?"

"The meeting between the tree factions is tomorrow and you're still wallowing," she said with a somewhat exasperated tone.

Azazel sighed. How could she understand? As she was about to reply he noticed someone in the corner of his office, reading through some files. His eyes narrowed, Penemue seeing his sudden reaction turned around, and what she saw baffled her.

Reading through a book she recognized as one of Azazel's note books about his sacred gear research, was an otherworldly handsome man with metallic-silver-white hair and eyes with crass-shaped pupils, he had brown skin and was wearing black combat pants, black slides, black turtle neck shirt, topped off with a black trench coat and a silver rosary.

Penemue starts glowing with corrupted holy light gaining the stranger's attention.

"Hmm," he said as he looked up from the book. Yet his eyes held no fear, they were cold and detached. Penemue almost faltered from being looked at by such eyes. Azazel placed his hand on her shoulder, she looked at him. They communicated with their eyes for a moment and she powered down.

"Interesting." said the stranger. "Brother is right, you are quite brilliant. To study something so intimate tied to the concept of the soul to this degree, quite a shame that you fell." said the man as he closed the book.

"Thanks, my genius comes naturally," said Azazel using amusement and snark to hide his caution and wariness.

"You know...you could just ask?" said the stranger as he put the book down and picked up another.

Azazel and Penemue exchange looks, knowing what he meant, but wondering if it was a ruse. Azazel rubbed his chin for a bit, before asking his question.

"Alright kid...who are you?" he asked in a serious tone.

"Hmm a vague question for beings like us but my Name is Ezekiel." said the man still reading the book with interest.

Azazel knew he heard that name recently. "Ahh the person that ended Kokabiel," said Azazel shocking Penemue and raising her vigilance to a higher degree. Say what you will about Kokabiel, sure he was mad, but he was by no means weak and his killer stood before him and she still couldn't sense him.

"Is that it?"

"No just testing the waters," replied Azazel with a chuckle.

"...What are you?" he asked. The man finally paused and looked up. And with a thought, his wings all 5 pairs sprouted from his back and unfurled, a silver-white halo appeared above his head, and they finally felt his aura. It was wrapped tightly around his body like a second skin.

Azazel said nothing and Penemue's mouth was wide open in shock. Had it been so long that she forgot what one fo her siblings looked like...no she would recognize them all upon seeing them...so that could only mean this was a new sibling, But how...he's dead.

"Brother huh?" said Azazel

"Yes"

"How long?"

"Didn't you feel the pulse?" He said. Azazel's eyes widened.

"That was you?" he asked.

"Hmmm partial. The process generated levels of holy power above what was expected and leaked from heaven. But it was successful. I am the first of the third generation of pure angels."

"How...only head could create pure angels. A miracle child I'd have accepted, but I can feel your aura. There is not a speck of human left. And considering you were human when you ended Kokabiel...it must be true...but how?" said Azazel. His mind ached without curiosity and some dread. If angels are being made again then Heaven was no longer than a stagnant faction in the Trinity. And more than likely the church would be going through changes if they haven't already.

"Hmm...Lor-" the man paused and sighed."I'm still not used to this. Brother Micheal requests your presence in Heaven. You may bring two or your most trusted Cadre with you for support."

Penemue was about to say something, but the words died in her throat when the ma-no angel glanced at her.

"In exchange for your presence to hear what he has to say today, I will allow you to see my sacred gear."

"That's quite the over, although I doubt my pious brothers and sisters would ambush me. I see no benefit in going to heaven no matter how curious I am of the changes or your gear."

The silver wings sheathed themselves in Ezekiel's back. He raised his hand and a book looking like a fusion of a Grimoire and a Bible manifested.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

Penemue looked at Azazel a saw a look of pure dread, but also and carnal curiosity that pulsed rampantly in his eyes, showing the hunger for knowledge in his soul.

"It finally appears." said the governor-general of the Fallen as he chuckled somewhat madly."The last used died since the great war but it only now appears. The sacred gear is mentioned in the same breath as Zenith Tempest and Tru Longinus. It has been missing for so long is the reason why Zenith Tempest sits in second place on the rank of strongest sacred gears. "

Azazel got up from behind his desk and made his way towards Ezekiel. his eyes locked on the floating book. As he stood in front of it he looked but dared not touch it as he knew how temperamental sacred gears can be, especially the longinus class. Penemuw started connecting the dots. It had been so long that she had forgotten the terror the previous user brought to the battlefield all those years ago. The only reason he was defeated was exhaustion. And with his loss and the loss of GOD, did heaven and the church finally agree to a cease-fire, to grieve for their siblings and those who followed them on that accursed day?

Penemue fell to her knee, trembling in horror. Of all the gears to end up in the hand of heaven both the second and from what their spies said third strongest longest were in their ranks. And the worst of the two was now in the hands of an angel...not just an angel but by the number of wings a Seraphim.

"One of the five holy relics," said Azael as he observed the sacred seals and divine scripture that ran across the cover of the book. " The first The True Longinus, also known as the Holy Spear, the Spear of Destiny, or the Holy Spear of the Setting Sun. It is the first and most powerful Longinus, as it is the same spear that St. Longinus used to stab Jesus Christ. The second Zenith Tempest, also known as the Prison of Bright Heavenly Thunder is or was the second-strongest Longinus considering this one has remade an appearance. It has the ability to control the weather and its elemental attributes.

The third Sephiroth Graal, also known as Holy Grail of the Secluded World, is a Longinus that is the "Holy Grail" from the Last Supper that Christ used and the Grail of Arthurian legend. The fourth Incinerate Anthem, also known as the Chief Mourner's Crucified Stand of Purple Flame. The Incinerate Anthem is the "Holy Cross" on which Christ was crucified. Incinerate Anthem has the ability to generate and control purple colored Holy Flames that can incinerate Devils." Azazel stopped to take a breath. And Ezekiel's brow was raised with interest. Although he knew of his gear, its origins and make were shrouded in s layer of mystery and he only knew bits and pieces. His gear was not seen as frequently as the other and when it was survivors don't. No one besides the gears creator and perhaps past users have studied it, but they left no notes or in-depth information on it.

But someone as enthralled by sacred gears as Azazel must know something. Azazel finally spoke. " Wrath of the Covenant, Top-tier Longinus, Destruction/Curse-Type.A glowing grimoire embedded with sacred seals and divine scripture, tied to the holy texts detailing God's divine wrath and the plagues that were cast upon Earth. The grimoire floats beside the user, its pages turnign on their own to summon biblical disasters and curses.

The Wrath of the Covenant was forged during one of the most tumultuous times in Heaven's history, shortly after the Great Fall of Lucifer and his rebellion against the Heavenly Order. Seeing the corruption that spread across the mortal realms, God sought to create a Sacred Gear that could serve as both a testament to His divine judgment and a tool to remind the world of His ultimate power. The creation of the Sacred Gear was a monumental task, one that required both holy and primordial elements, symbolizing both the wrath of God and His promise to cleanse the world of sin when necessary. It is said that this particular gear was made using ingredients such as The Ashes of Sodom and Gomorrah, The Seals of the Ten Plagues, The Waters of the Great Floods, The Fire of Mount Sinai, The Scrolls of Prophecy from the Original Book of Revelations, Salt from Lot's Wife and Essense of Divine Judgment."

Penemue was stunned, It couldn't be. Why would he give such power to a human or a hybrid? Why would he add such a final ingredient? Ezekiel raised his brow. Already guessing what the final ingredient is.

"If you guessed it then you understand why it's such a dangerous Sacred Gear. God himself breathed a fragment of His divine will into the Sacred Gear, ensuring it would carry His authority to judge the wicked and purify the world. It is said that this Sacred Gear has some connection to the Apocalypse mentioned in Revelations."

Ezekiel regained his composition with relative ease. Already planning to do some more research on his Sacred Gear. The essence of the Father himself, yes this gear needs further researching and Micheal needs alerting.

"So Azazel...Do we have a deal" asked Ezekiel

Azazel trembled in excitement with a somewhat maniacal smile on his face.
