Chương 38: Explore dating

At seven in the evening, he was knocking at the door of his date. He would rather go home tonight, so he could rest, but that would surely make Melissa come after his head. He better went with it and over with. At least he could say to Melissa that he did go out with her.

"Wait just a second." He heard from the other side of the door. In a few seconds, the door opened, revealing a tall, skinny and gorgeous blonde. "I would assume that you are Rafael." She stated as she opened her door widely for him to enter.

"Yeah, that would be me. You are Sophia." He just said like stating a fact.

"Would you like to come in for a few minutes?" She asked, guiding him to the simple, but the elegant living room.

"No problem." He replied as he followed her and sat on the chair.

"I'll be ready in a minute." She walked back to her room, leaving him to look around her typical expensive hotel room.

He was beginning to form a conclusion about this girl. In his mind, he was picturing her as a prima donna kind of model, who sought attention every chance she could. He could not wait to end this night as soon as possible.

In ten minutes, she emerged from her room ready to leave. Finally, he thought.

"Where are we going?" She asked with a sweet smile as soon as he escorted her out of the room.

Since he was raised to be a gentleman, he never wanted to be rude. Although he said that he wanted to move on and date again. He would prefer to choose the girl he wanted to go out with and not be set up with a blind date again.

"There is a nice restaurant that I wanted to try just a few blocks from here. I hope you like Mexican." He said. He did not consider in his selection of the restaurant if she liked the dish.

She sat comfortably in the passenger seat of his car and glanced in his direction. "It is one of my favorites. Fair warning. I love spicy foods."

Her response surprised him since the last model he was set up to date barely ate anything at all. "That's good to hear. I love spicy food too."

She was not bad at all as far as their car ride went in the short distance to their destination. She was entertaining in a way, comical in a sense. She rarely talked about herself, but more of her general knowledge of the world. Not a typical model it would seem.

He found himself enjoying their conversation if you would call it their exchange of ideas.

They continued in this manner as the dinner progress. Ordering a variety of dishes to sample and appeased their appetite. Another intriguing thing he discovered about her. She was a model, but she never bothered with what she was eating.

"Why are you staring?" She asked as she took a drink of her wine after just swallowing the last piece of morsel on her plate.

He cleared his throat, trying to find the word that would not offend her. "Well, you do eat a lot for a model." He decided to go for honesty.

"I was blessed with a great body, but I do work hard to maintain it." She picked the napkin and dabbed the imaginary wine on her lips. "But I do indulge in guilty pleasures once in a while," she admitted.

"Well, most models I had the pleasure to meet would rather starve than take an ounce of additional calories in their body." He pointed out.

"I'm not most models. I don't take for granted the gifts that were provided for us to partake." She said teasingly to him as she took a bite on her desert.

"You amaze me in a way." He voiced out what he was thinking.

"I'll take that as a compliment." Smiling at him.

Her smile did make him feel comfortable around her. She was different from most of the girls he dated, especially the models.

"By the way, I'm sorry if I made you wait earlier. My grandma called. She was not feeling well. So I had to call my mom to check on her. She lives alone in her old house which was a few blocks from my mom." She tried to explain to him.

Now, he felt really like a stupid a** for jumping to his conclusions about her. She was not the typical self-centered model he originally thought.

"Don't worry about it. I did not mind at all." Acting like it was not a big deal.

Her lips widen to a smile before laughing at him. "You are a terrible liar, Rafael." She announced while trying to calm her laughter.

"What?" He was confused at the way she was acting.

She placed her hand on her face, trying to subdue her reaction. "Earlier, I saw your reaction when I came out of my room. You were ready to call the dinner off." She declared with still a wide smile on her face and a few giggles on the side.

"No, I was not." He tried to deny it. Then again, admitted it, realizing that he was caught with his lie. "Yeah, I almost did. I thought you were like most typical stars that only wanted attention."

"Ok. I get it. We are always misjudged by people, labeled with the usual stereotype. What do you think of me now?" She asked seriously this time.

"I think you are different from my first assumption. You are fun to be with, easy-going. I enjoyed every minute of your company ever since we rode on my car." He confessed.

"Good. Can we enjoy the rest of this night? Now that we had put the awkwardness aside." She said, putting her hands on his on the table.

He placed his other hand on top of hers and said. "Definitely." Smiling at their agreement.

The rest of the meal went smoothly with them making small talks about their family and anything under the sun.

At the end of the date, he took her back to her apartment. Kissed her goodnight and walked away from her as she closed the door behind her.

It was a great date as far as he was concerned. He asked her again for another date, which astonished even himself. Maybe there was something special about her. For the first time after a year, he wanted to explore dating another girl. Particularly a girl named Sophia.
