Lan Tian approaches the three men, and asks, "Do you know when this happened?"
They all give him an odd look for barging in on their conversation.
But the older of the three mutters, "This letter just arrived, but it's dated from five days ago."
Lan Tian thanks him, and drops three silver taels in front of the inn servant.
"You already paid for your room," the man says inspecting the silver greedily despite his words.
"Consider it a token of our appreciation for your excellent service."
They leave the inn after that, and make their way towards a nearby forest where Lan Tian can change shapes under the seclusion of the tree copses.
"I can't believe you paid him extra," Wu Yun says, strapping Lan Tian's rucksack to his back, and helping Wan Mi do the same.
"We ordered a lot of food..." Wan Mi says, taking Lan Tian's side, as per usual.

Wu Yun: How come the only other person more chaotic than me in this entire novel got married before I did? Am I not the protagonist?
Xin Liqin: It's all due to my artistic talents. Who could resist my exqusite guqin playing.
Qiao Xiaojian: As you will learn in the next chapter, it had nothing to do with that.
