Chương 23: First Classes (3)

"Stick your right hand over the broom, and say up!" Madam Hooch exclaimed to the class while instructing them on how to activate their brooms

"Up!" the children exclaimed as they held their right hands over the brooms lying on the floor

"Up," Alaric said calmly as the old broom shot into his hands, making him the first person to be successful in their endeavor.

After Alaric had completed what was asked of him, Harry succeeded in getting his broom to go into his hand followed by Draco and a few other of their peers.

Seeing that most of the children were struggling, Madam Hooch gave them another command. "With feeling now children, you must mean it!" she exclaimed

As Ron was continuously saying up, all of a sudden he succeeded, almost that is. While he did get the broom to come up, it instead of going into his outstretched hand, whacked him in the nose, much to the amusement of Alaric and the others who saw the scene unfold.

"Shut up Harry," Ron said with a smile as he turned to his friend who was laughing at the red-haired boy's plight.

Once the class all had their brooms in hand, Madam Hooch took that as her cue to continue the lesson. "Now, once you've got hold of your broom, I want you to mount it, and grip it tight, you don't want to be sliding off the end.

'Mount it, grip it tight, and don't slide off, what is this, broom lessons or sex ed?' Alaric thought with a mental chuckle

Non the wiser of what was going on in her student and distant relatives' head, Madam Hooch continued with her lesson. "once I blow the whistle, I want each of you to kick off the ground, hard. Keep your brooms steady, hover for a moment, then lean forward slightly and touch back down. on my whistle." Hooch instructed as she paced between the children.

"Three, two, *tweeeet*" Madam Hooch counted down before she blew her whistle and the children officially commenced their first attempt at hovering on a broom. the second she blew her whistle, it didn't take long for the first student to screw up. The one and only Neville Longbottom started hovering and gaining ground before he was a good three meters above the ground and was quickly losing control of his broom due to him being scared.

"M-Mr. Longbottom?" Madam Hooch said with worry as the boy started to uncontrollably gain altitude and start to fly off in a sporadic way.

Neville soon started his joy ride by flying all over the courtyard and would take sudden sharp turns and do random flips in the air, mind you, the poor boy had absolutely no control over what was happening, he was just there along for the ride.

Just as the poor bastard was about to make his fall and break a few bones like in canon, Alaric decided to do his good deed for the day and help the boy come down smoother than he would've without Alaric's help.

"Accio." Alaric cast with his wand and pointed at Neville's clothes as he dragged the boy down to where they were and once he was a meter off the ground, Alaric canceled the spell, causing Neville to flop down on the ground and groan. 'Oh get up you big baby, it was just a meter.' Alaric thought

As he was getting up from the ground, the children swarmed him and started buzzing around Neville like a bunch of flies. "Everyone out of the way!" Madam Hooch exclaimed as she ran to the boy's side and helped him up. "Are you alright boy?" she asked with a stern disapproving look on her face, only causing the boy to freeze up and turn a shade of red from embarrassment.

"Y-Y-Yes p-professor, I'm quite a-alright." he sputtered out as he groaned from the bruises he undoubtedly had gotten. As she helped the boy up, she made an announcement.

"Everyone is to keep their feet firmly on the ground while I take Mr. Longbottom to the hospital wing, understand? If I see a single broom in the air, the one riding it will find themselves out of Hogwarts before they can say Quidditch."

As she walked with Neville toward the entrance to the castle, she walked up to Alaric and thanked him. "I thank you for softening the boy's blow Mr. Reinhardt."

"It was the right thing to do professor," Alaric said with a shoulder shrug

'To be honest I kind of wanted to see the idiot take a tumble like in canon but hey, whatever, there's always Malfoy who I could torment.' Alaric mentally plotted

Speaking of the little blonde shit stain. "Did you see his face? Maybe if the fat lump had given this a squeeze, he would have remembered to fall on his fat ass." Draco said while laughing, the other brats in class laughing with him except for a select few who had some tact.

Although he felt like kicking the prat in his ferret face, Alaric decided to just sit back and watch the show, might as well let Harry and Draco argue so the boy-who-didnt-do-jack-shit, can have his spot on the quidditch team.

"Give it here, Malfoy," Harry said confrontationally and with even more confidence and hate than he did in canon. "No. I think I'll leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find." Draco said as he threw the Remembrall up and caught it before ascending on his broom while taunting Harry. "How 'bout on the roof." the blonde inbred said as he flew away.

After that, the same events as canon unfolded, Harry flew up and caught the remembrall, and after McGonagall witnessed that, she got him put on the team as the seeker. the golden trio also found where Fluffy was as well.

And with that over, the first day of Hogwarts had officially come to a close.

--Next day, the Great hall, breakfast hours--

Alaric was walking toward the entrance to the great hall to grab some breakfast as he had just finished his morning workout and had taken a shower in the bathroom that was connected to his room. 'Boy does being a pure-blood scion come with some benefits.' Alaric thought amusingly

Walking through the doors leading into the Great Hall, Alaric quickly locked on to where his sister was sitting with her friends as well as Daphne and Tracey. Alaric walked toward the group at a comfortable pace and as he passed the Gryfinndor table, he saw Seamus screw up another spell and get covered in soot from an explosion he accidentally caused.

"Oh, Alaric, come here and sit next to your loving big sister!" Sofia called out while patting a spot to her left. "Nah, I'm good," Alaric said as he sat next to Tracey who was sitting on the right side of Daphne. "Hey Daphne, Tracey." Alaric greeted the two with a nod, getting one in return from Daphne and an eccentric hello from Tracey.

"Hmph!" Sofia pouted at the fact her sweet little brother blew her off so easily. "So, how was your first day of classes?" She asked moving into a conversation.

"Boring to say the least," Alaric said with a neutral expression as he started digging into his food which this morning consisted of a full English breakfast.

Alaric had grabbed some fresh fruit, a few pieces of bacon, two eggs, sunny side up, a couple of sausages, and a toasted slice of white bread with some marmalade on it. Like every sane person on this planet, he refused to even touch the baked beans, and who could blame the guy, let's be real, whoever came up with the notion that baked beans were a breakfast item, should be hung, drawn, and quartered.

"Well of course the classes will be boring for you, I mean, my kid brother is a magical genius after all," Sofia said with her nose pointed to the sky while dawning a prideful smirk on her face.

"Tch, how genius can he possibly be, he's just a first-year like the rest of us," Draco muttered from the other side of the table down a few spaces. "Unlike you and your twink of a father, Malfoy, all Reinhardts are naturally adept at magic," Alaric said hoping the little brat would give him a reason to send him to the hospital wing. Was it petty, sure, was it unbecoming of a man who has lived countless millennia, maybe, does Alaric care? Fuck. No.

"Y-You!" Draco stuttered as his face grew red. 'Here it comes.' Alaric thought knowing full and well that the little ferret was going to say something out of line.

"Being adept at magic sure didn't stop the lot of you lizards from being slaughtered by the dark lord and his followers!" Draco spat out venomously

Hearing Malfoy's words, Alaric was, to say the least, surprised mixed with a little bit of rage, however, he quickly calmed down and without another word, sent a condensed bolt of lightning that zapped the boy into unconsciousness as he slumped from his seat and fell on his face onto the cold hard stone floor of the Great Hall.

Luckily for him, none of the teachers had seen what had just transpired, well, almost none, good old Dumbledore saw the entire encounter and he just sat there with a disapproving look on his face.

"Shouldn't have talked about my family," Alaric said with a shrug as he spat on Draco's unconscious body as he got up and left the great hall.

--Later, in charms class--

It had been a few minutes since Alaric had arrived at Charms class and he was surprised to find out that all four houses had charms together, but then again, considering the size of the classroom, it made sense since they could fit all of them in here.

"Hello cousin," Daphne said as she and her bubbly friend walked up to him and sat next to him, Daphne being the one right next to him with Tracey to her left. "Hey Daphne, you do know that we're only second cousins, right? there is no reason to call me that, just refer to me by my name." Alaric said in greeting to Daphne, who only responded with a nod to his words after

"Hi, Alaric!" the bubbly girl excitedly greeted him to which he returned with a smile.

As the children filed into the room, the golden trio also arrived, Hermione sat next to Alaric on his right and the other two sat to her right as well.

As the children were all chatting away and conversing with their peers about their first day of Hogwarts, the half-goblin teacher walked into the class with his suit and combed hair, and he stepped onto the stack of books he had next to his podium and addressed the class.

"Good morning young first years! I am Professor Flitwick, the Charms Master here at Hogwarts, along with the house head of Ravenclaw!" the last statement of his earned him a round of applause from the dutiful young students of his house.

"Now, can anyone tell me why charms are one of the most important branches of magic to a modern wizard?" Flitwick asked in his squeaky voice accompanied by his signature upbeat personality.

Seeing no one else had raised their hand, not even Hermione the overachiever, Alaric decided to take a swing at it, even though throughout his time, he seldom used charms as he found freely manipulating magic to be stronger and more efficient.

"Yes, Mr. Reinhardt, care to enlighten the class?" Flitwick asked with a smile as he called on Alaric.

"The reason why charms are so important is because of their sheer versatility."

"Care to elaborate on that thought?" Flitwick asked with an ever-growing smile

"Of course professor, the reason they are the most versatile is due to being able to be used for defense, offense, and even miscellaneous tasks, and let's not forget that warding is one of the most useful bits of magic a wizard could use to protect themselves and their loved ones from intruders and other things."

"Great answer!" Flitwick said while clapping his little hands vigorously.

"Ten points to Slytherin!"

And with that over with, the lesson had officially begun.
