Chương 126: Chapter 126: Borgin and Burkes Shop and the Restricting Magic Stone

"Hey, aren't we going back?" After walking a few steps, Irina noticed they weren't heading in the same direction they came from, so she asked with some confusion.

Lynn explained, "I plan to sell some alchemy practice products. Those scraps are taking up space in my bag, so I might as well exchange them for Galleons."

Then, Lynn brought Irina to the front of a relatively large shop.

"Borgin and Burkes?" Irina read the sign above the shop's entrance aloud.

Irina was somewhat familiar with this shop. In the original story, when Harry used the Floo Network before the school year started, he mispronounced the address and ended up in the fireplace of Borgin and Burkes.

Lynn nodded slightly and told Irina to wait for him outside, then entered Borgin and Burkes alone.

Upon entering, Lynn saw the hunched proprietor, Mr. Borgin, standing behind the counter.

"Look around at anything you want, but don't touch anything," Mr. Borgin glanced at Lynn and said indifferently when he saw it was an unfamiliar young wizard.

Lynn shook his head, walked up to the counter, and calmly said, "I'm not here to buy, I want to sell."

"Oh?" Mr. Borgin looked at Lynn with interest. He didn't think this second or third-year student would have anything worthwhile. "But this isn't some junk shop. I don't take just anything."

Upon hearing this, Lynn let out a cold laugh and placed a half-finished Restricting Magic Stone on the counter.

Seeing this Restricting Stone, Mr. Borgin took a surprised step back before picking up a magnifying glass to examine it closely.

"This is...a Restricting Stone?! But aren't these only made by that French alchemist Valison Green?"

Mr. Borgin said in disbelief. He probed cautiously, "How many of these do you have?"

Lynn placed a bag on the counter. When Mr. Borgin opened it, he was stunned to find over thirty half-finished Restricting Stones inside!

This made Mr. Borgin feel incredulous. As far as he knew, currently only Valison Green could produce Restricting Stones. And their fearsome power meant that any Stones not purchased by the Ministry and released to the market commanded extremely high prices.

Not just in the British wizarding world - even in Green's native French community, a single Restricting Stone could easily fetch tens of Galleons.

Yet for Lynn, these were merely scraps from his alchemy practice.

After all, the half-finished Stones didn't require engraving alchemical formations. They weren't a combination of universal and formation alchemy, merely universal alchemy products. As long as Lynn had enough materials, he could churn out an endless stream of half-done Restricting Stones.

"May I ask your name, sir? And what is your relationship to Mr. Green?" Mr. Borgin asked cautiously.

If Lynn could casually produce over thirty Restricting Stones, there was no way he wasn't connected to Valison Green in some capacity.

Lynn said indifferently, "Lynn Rowle. And I'm Professor Green's apprentice."

Hearing this, Mr. Borgin understood - he was an apprentice of the renowned Valison Green. No wonder he could produce so many Stones; it seemed the young man had learned their creation method.

After hearing Lynn's surname Rowle, Mr. Borgin's attitude became much more respectful. The Rowles were one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight pure-blood families, stronger than even the Burkes. Otherwise, Mr. Borgin wouldn't be stuck running a shop in Knockturn Alley, kowtowing to Lucius Malfoy.

"Ah, Mr. Rowle, it's an honor...Mr. Rowle, how do you plan to sell these Stones?"

Mr. Borgin's back seemed to bend further as he said obsequiously.

Lynn said coolly, "How about fifty Galleons per Stone? If you want to take the whole bag, then two thousand Galleons for the lot!"

Mr. Borgin protested, "But that's not right, Mr. Rowle. At fifty Galleons each, this whole bag is worth at most 1,650 Galleons! Why 2,000? Buying more gets more expensive?!"

Lynn sneered, "Restricting Stones are in short supply these days. The more you buy, the more you can make reselling them. If I didn't find it too bothersome, I wouldn't bother bringing the whole lot to you. I could take them to auction and sell each one for even more, couldn't I?"

Mr. Borgin hesitated. As Lynn said, if he resold these Stones, he could likely make even more profit, especially at auction where each could probably fetch double.

However, Mr. Borgin intended to use these Stones to fortify his shop's alchemy formations. With restricting magic at work, his Borgin and Burkes could become the safest shop in all of Knockturn Alley, perhaps even Diagon Alley too.

So Mr. Borgin had to dip into his own funds to purchase the Stones, rather than profit off reselling them. And 2,000 Galleons was no small sum for him currently, especially after buying a large batch of dark artifacts from Malfoy just six months prior.

If he bought out Lynn's entire supply, his shop might run at a loss for the whole year.

"Fine, I'll take them!" Eventually, Mr. Borgin gritted his teeth and agreed.

Galleons could always be made, but a chance to obtain so many Restricting Stones at once might never come again.

So Mr. Borgin counted out 2,000 Galleons for Lynn and took the bag of half-made Stones.

Having profited handsomely, Lynn left Borgin and Burkes satisfied, taking Irina's small hand as they exited.

"Let's go, I'm treating you to a big meal in Diagon Alley today!" Lynn said cheerfully.

Even without his family's allowance, this payment alone would cover his expenses for the whole school year. He could even undertake some alchemy experiments he'd previously deemed too costly due to material prices!

Back in Diagon Alley, Lynn bought Irina a box of strawberry ice cream from Florean Fortescue's before they headed to get dinner.
