Chương 5: Chapter 5

" In my opinion, the saying, people show their true colors at death's door is pretty funny. Not entirely sure why? " - Unknown.

In the middle of the dense woods, a cloaked figure stood hunched over, with a frail stick in his hand. Gently, almost slightly elegantly, he wrote in the mud. With each turn of his wrist, the stick in his hand dug into the dirt, writing letters. Until finally, Dale snapped the twig and tossed it to his side looking down at the words below. Slowly murmuring them to himself.

" Unicorn. Set traps near the lake. Unicorns need something to drink, right? Set up snares and other types of traps. Snag onto the unicorn's leg before it can fly away. Unicorns can fly correct?... What else could I add to this?"

What Dale did was write every single thought that came to his mind down into the mud. Brainstorming ways he could catch a mythical creature such as a unicorn. His mind raced for several more minutes, until he let out a loud sigh and drug his shoes across the mud, scraping away the words.

For the next few hours, Dale worked. Until his hands cracked. His legs grew sore. Until every bone in his body ached in pain. From setting up several different traps, as the scorching hot sun pierced through the thick brush of massive trees, burning Dale's already sunburnt skin. Until finally, the unforgiving sunset, and Dale collapsed down, his back sliding across the bark of a tree before he loudly plopped to the ground.

He let out a faint groan, as he closed his eyes. A creature like a unicorn wouldn't appear directly as the sun sets, it would come hours after it. Basking in the glorious moon that covered the night sky.

Even though Dale had been in gravity falls for a few short days, he didn't fear the night or the forest...But, I guess figuring out you're against Bill Cipher will make you forget the fears you had during the first night. Without a single chill covering his body, Dale swiftly fell into a well-earned sleep.

He slept peacefully. Seconds turned to minutes, those minutes turned into hours, before- SNAP

Instantly, Dale's eyes shot open and he quickly stood up. That loud snap stemmed from one of his traps being set off. But oddly, it didn't come from the lake, it came from deeper inside the forest. Ignoring this, Dale hurriedly sprinted towards the trap, running past tree after tree, until he slid across the cold ground coming to a stop directly under his trap. He glanced up into the dark sky, seeing two red eyes swinging back and forth. An awkward silence engulfed the forest before Dale spoke.

"I think we need to stop meeting Bigfoot. So, how about this? I let you go from this trap. And you don't try to chew my head off. Because, trust me. I'm willing to leave you up there. "

Bigfoot let out a low growl, before its glowing red eyes grew wide and its massive mouth latched open revealing its large vampire-like fangs. The creature took a single deep breath, before yelling loudly, ruffling the invisible leaves hidden by the darkness of night.

" Well, that answered my question. I'm leaving you up there. " Said Dale, turning around, walking away from Bigfoot still dangling in the air. The Bigfoot could only watch helplessly, as Dale slowly walked somewhat annoyed...Until another loud sound rippled through the forest.

NEIGH!

Immediately, Dale dashed towards the sound. Sprinting towards the lake, running into a clearing, seeing the silhouette of a horse, illuminated by moonlight. The animal was shaped like a horse with glowing hair, and a single horn protruding out of its forehead. There was no mistaking it. It was clearly a unicorn. The unicorn stood next to the lake's edge before it snapped its head towards Dale.

" YOU! Disturbing human. You dare trap me?! " Roared out the unicorn, its voice filled with ignorance. Dale could only scoff as he approached the unicorn, as it yanked its hind leg, trying to free itself from the snare. Even though, Dale knew the unicorns in the show were arrogant, he was still slightly taken back by its cockiness.

" You talk big for being a mere horse. But give me your hair. And I'll free you from this trap."

" You think I'll give you my glorious hair? Stupid human. " Responded the unicorn, its black eyes dilating in pure rage.

" Well, no. That's why I trapped you... " Dale slowly approached the unicorn, before it abruptly pointed its horn at Dale's chest, trying to scare him off. " That would work on your average human. But that's not going to scare me. "

" Really? When I blow a hole in your useless heart. We will see if it matters if you're scared or not. " Said the unicorn, watching Dale walk towards him calmly. Dale got closer and closer, as the unicorn horn started to glow, several vibrant colors.

" Like I said- " Before Dale could finish his sentence the ground under him began to tremble, making him stagger back. Immediately, a wave of worry swept through his body. Maybe, just maybe. The unicorn's horn was dangerous. After all, surely everything in this timeline isn't the same as in the shows.

But quickly, this thought process was washed away. When Dale's eyes locked on the unicorn's face. Its face was filled with shock, as waves of gushing water rippled through the air. Followed by a deafly high pitch scream. Both Dale and Unicorn jerked their heads towards this scream only to see Bigfoot staring up into the sky with widened eyes.

The Bigfoot stumbled back, its legs trembling, before it passed out from freight collasping on its hairy back. Rain began to fall from the sky, washing the dirt off Dale's skin as he looked up into the air, to see a long head roughly 40 feet in the sky. The head was dinosaur-like, with a long gray neck stemming from the lake's water.

The best way Dale could describe the creature was something similar to a lockless monster. But before this thought could run through his mind, the massive creature spoke.

" Will you two stop bickering? I'm trying to sleep. "

" Shut up, ugly thing. If this human hadn't trapped me. I wouldn't have looked at your dirty scales. "

" Oh. It's a unicorn. Great." Mumbled the monster, as it glanced over at Dale. " Your after its hair correct? " Dale quickly nodded as he hurriedly walked towards the unicorn grabbing onto the glowing mane.

" G-Get your filthy hands off me- Right before, the unicorn could finish talking, Dale yanked his hand back, pulling off five strains of unicorn hair. Quickly, the unicorn swung its head at Dale narrowly missing him as he stepped back.

"Y-Y-You..."

The unicorn couldn't find words to say, as its body shuddered with fury.

" Now that you've got the hair, leave. I need to sleep. And for you unicorn, please be quiet. I highly doubt the human... Yeah, human. Will free you and we both know the land is beyond my bounds. "

Dale could only stare at the creature while backpedaling, walking past the collapsed Big foot stepping over its burly arm, retreating deeper into the forest. A few seconds passed as Dale disappeared into the forest. Both the unicorn and the creature grew quiet, staring at each other before the unicorn spoke.

" Tsk, now what? What are you thinking about? "

" ...Nothing. That human. Was. An odd one. " Said the creature, as its body sank back down into the lake...
