My mind raced with Sofia's unexpected request, the weight of guilt and fear pressing heavily upon me. I struggled to find the right words, but she kept talking, expressing her feelings for Juan . I felt suffocated, my breath coming in short gasps as I desperately needed a break from the conversation.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed in my trembling hands, offering a welcomed distraction. With trembling fingers, I checked the message, relief flooding over me as I saw it was from Matt, urging me to come downstairs urgently. I let out a deep sigh of relief, grateful for the excuse to escape Sofia's probing questions.

"Uhh, Sofia," I stammered, my voice trembling as I struggled to form coherent words. She looked up at me, her eyes filled with curiosity. "Please excuse me, I need to attend to someone downstairs," I managed to say, hoping she would understand and give me some space.
