Still sitting on the bench, Lucas looked up. He blankly stared through the gaps between the rustling leaves. The swaying shadows of the leaves danced on his face.
Until now, Lucas had yet to visit his family home again. Neither Kevin nor Linda persuaded him to. They did it not out of spite but, guilt.
His younger brother told him to take his time, whether he would come back again in the future or not.
As for his mother, she only reminded him not to work so hard. Those words were simple but enough to catch Lucas off guard.
All his life, this might be the first time he heard his mother give kind advice like that.
"Will she change?" whispered Lucas while still looking at the clear summer sky.
Before, Lucas was adamant about limiting his contact with his family. But, the recent incidents involving his father's infidelity opened his eyes wide to other perspectives.
