After sealing the promise, Liliana opened up to Lucas about what happened in the south for the entire previous week.

The clock was pointing to eight in the evening. A few of the park visitors had left, but the place was not deserted. Occasionally, new faces joined. Most of them were joggers.

Liliana narrated her tale to Lucas under the bright sparks emitted from the hand-held fireworks. Her story had yet to end when the last sparkler ceased radiating the lights.

She expressed her thoughts regarding the accident that claimed her grandparents' lives and the one that caused her mother to be in a coma.

Liliana and Lucas returned to the picnic mat while she kept talking. He brought along the small tin where they kept the used sparklers, half of the sticks were submerged into the water.
