Imagine placing yourself in the shoes of your own people.
A complete stranger suddenly approaches you, asking to trade your meat for a currency that has no recognized value.

Without knowing if Mora could actually be spent, reasoning dictates that even Morax wouldn't trade his household's meat for such unproven currency.

How do we break this cycle?
How can we take that first step and make everyone see that Mora has value—so much value that people would willingly abandon bartering for it?
And importantly, without relying on a decree from the gods to forcibly circulate Mora.
Sure, over time and through sheer persistence, Mora might eventually gain acceptance, but that would be a distorted process.
"If it were me, I wouldn't agree to such an exchange," Morax replied to Vorthis.
Vorthis laughed and said, "Exactly! That's the point."
"So, we need to create a situation where the currency demonstrates its value, encouraging everyone to willingly adopt it."
"Oh? And how would you demonstrate that value?" Morax asked.
"For now, the most universally needed and relatively high-value commodity is food," Vorthis explained.
"We can peg the currency to grain. By establishing a bank under the gods' endorsement, citizens can exchange their grain for currency."
"In doing so, Mora would be tied to the value of grain."
"This gives Mora a tangible worth. People would then feel confident using it for transactions."
After listening to Vorthis' explanation, Morax understood.
Pegging currency to grain essentially gives it a baseline value.
For instance, person A might want to trade for person B's chair, but if person B doesn't need grain, a direct exchange becomes impractical.
However, if Mora is used as an intermediary currency with guaranteed value, person A can pay with Mora, and person B wouldn't worry about Mora being useless.
On the way, Vorthis shared more concepts about banking with Morax, even naming the institution: Liyue Bank.
After that? Well, everything else was left for Morax to handle.
As for Vorthis' laid-back personality, there was no way he'd involve himself in managing a bank.
Morax didn't seem the type to personally handle management either, but he could certainly select capable individuals from among the people to do the job.
"All that's left now is the final touch!"
"Morax, hurry up and create our Liyue currency!" Vorthis urged with a grin.
Morax hesitated.
Wasn't creating Liyue's currency supposed to be the job of the God of Manifestation?
Wouldn't it be easier to use your own powers to materialize the currency directly?
...Morax was baffled.
Then again, considering Vorthis' personality, it somehow made perfect sense.
"Fine, wait a moment."
Morax closed his eyes and pondered how to design a proper currency.
First, it needed his unique divine power embedded for authenticity, ensuring it couldn't be counterfeited.
Next, the currency had to be small and portable.
It also needed denominations for easier transactions and change-making.
And so, the world's first Mora appeared in Morax's hand.
Vorthis swiftly snatched it, as quick as lightning.
"Is this the currency you envisioned?"
"It certainly looks the part!"
"Every currency needs a name. Since you created it, why not call it Mora?" Vorthis suggested with a smile, discreetly pocketing the first Mora ever made.
Hmm, doesn't this seem quite collectible?
"???"
After hearing Vorthis' suggestion, Morax slowly conjured three big question marks in his mind.
Why name the currency after part of his own name?
Morax didn't understand.
Was it because "gold coin" didn't sound fancy enough?
Never mind. If Vorthis liked it, so be it.
Morax had no desire to argue over something as trivial as a name, especially with someone like Vorthis, who would never back down.
Recently, things had been peaceful. Better not disrupt that.
"Fine, Mora it is. It does sound oddly pleasing..."
With Mora now created, Vorthis proudly entered full-on "do-nothing" mode.
Everything else was handed off to Morax.
After all, if Vorthis did everything, would this be Morax's Liyue or Vorthis'?
Managing unruly people? Ugh, so exhausting!
Vorthis, a veteran of Cities: Skylines, knew this all too well.
"Did you hear? The Lord of Geo is establishing a department called the Liyue Bank!"
"Really?"
"Of course! Do you think I'd joke about matters concerning the gods?"
"Apparently, the Lord of Geo is selecting talents to run this Reverie Bank!"
"A new department? I know what Reverie refers to, but what's a 'bank' supposed to be?"
"How should I know? It's something the gods created together. We mortals can only wait and see."
"Just trust in the gods! Everything they do is for the prosperity of Liyue!"
Every move the gods made was closely observed by the people.
News of the Liyue Bank quickly spread throughout Liyue.
Though people didn't yet understand its purpose, anything created by the gods was bound to receive their full support.
When Morax announced the selection of candidates, the venue was packed, with what seemed like all of Liyue in attendance.
After all, people love a good spectacle.
Even those uninterested in participating came just to watch.
Under Morax's selection process, several suitable individuals were chosen. He handed each a book titled Banking Manual and instructed them to study it thoroughly.
After that? Morax left.
This, perhaps, counted as a form of training.
