Lu Han's business was taking a gigantic hit, he was on the phone with shareholders all day diffusing the situation. They were irate at the ongoing issue with the stocks dropping. One by one he appeased them and stated that this will be resolved in due time.
He clenched his fists and wanted nothing better to do than to wrap his hands around the neck of the person that did this to him. Whom had he offended? He stared at the guest list and couldn't figure it out.
After reviewing the video footage, he was just about to find out which guest dropped off the blue box that ruined his engagement party and put a curveball on his plans to use the Sheng Family. When all of a sudden at the most crucial time frame, it suddenly cut off as if someone intentionally erased that portion of the footage. That 5 minute window was all he needed and it was gone.
He stood up so fast and slammed his laptop closed. How is he supposed to take revenge on a person that is so well prepared? He must be someone smart to have covered all of his bases.
Little did Lu Han know that Liu Wei was that culprit. She did her homework and knew that she would be seen on the video cameras that were in the hotel. So she read up on hacking the hotel system in a matter of a few hours and easily deleted that portion of time, effectively erasing evidence of her involvement. Also to make it less troublesome for her, she prepared a second a gift with her name on it.
Playing mind games with Lu Han was just the beginning. She wanted him to suffer, like how she suffered. To feel utter hopelessness and to watch all that he holds dear slowly vanish in front of him. Death would be a reprieve that she was unwilling to give him. She wanted to cripple him financially as that was what he loved... money.
In the Liu Mansion everyone was home. Liu Wei was lounging with the family in the living room recounting her days abroad. Even though it was a little awkward for everyone in the beginning, it soon headed for the better. Laughter could be heard from the living room all the way from the kitchen.
"I'm so glad Miss is back home, we haven't had such happy times in this house for a while" said the housekeeper to the chef.
The chef and the rest of the staff nodded in agreement as they felt happy days were ahead for the Liu Family.
"Liu Wei what are your plans now? Do you want to work at the Liu Corporation? I can bring you in as the VP you will be second in command after your older brother" Grandfather said as he was eager to get Liu Wei involved in the family business.
"If that is what grandpa wishes, then I will follow it." she nodded with a smile. She knew that it was what her family wanted and she didn't mind. Running a business shouldn't be that hard, right?
Grandfather Liu was a little speechless, he figured she would say no right away. After all she was a model and that's all she's ever known. Most people who were talented in the arts weren't keen on acquisitions and mergers. It was basically polar opposites, so he had a whole speech prepared to get her on board.
There was nothing more in this life that he wanted other than to see his grandchildren managing and continuing his legacy. But with her quick agreement his speech was derailed.
Liu Ho was excited and he nearly jumped from his seat "Little sis, I can now pawn most of my work to you!! I can finally stop working around the clock!"
"Don't scare her with the work load!" Mr Liu chided him but without malice. He was elated as you could see the corner of his lips twitching into a smile.
"I am eager to learn big brother, do your worst. It can't be as hard as walking in 6 inch heels on a slippery runway while dragging a huge oversized dress. While looking like you're taking a stroll on the streets" she remarked with a straight face.
"Alright you win! I'd fall flat on my face the minute I step on that runway. My poor sister must have suffered." Liu Ho was shaking his head and scrunching his face in disdain at the thought.
Laughter erupted once again. Preparations to get her into the company went underway quickly and smoothly. She was to start in 2 days' time, before then she was given ledgers and the 411 on the current on goings of the Liu Corp.
She diligently read each and every single one. With her photographic memory she was able to retain everything she read and understood it as well, since she helped run the Li family business in her previous life. This was literally a piece of cake for her.
Her family wasn't expecting much from her as they knew she had no background in business. But they were happy to see her take up the challenge. It made them proud, it was more than they had could have asked for.
On her first day at Liu Corp she caused quite a stir. She was dazzling in her business suit and black high heels and her brother looked suave in his attire. Walking side by side the siblings turned heads left and right.
The employees were made aware that the new VP would be arriving that day and that she was the younger sister of their CEO whom they all respected. The CEO was already known as a hunk and now another unbelievable good gene emerged in the same family. This world is just not fair!! couldn't they allocate the beautiful gene evenly? Why must it all go to one family? These were one of the many thoughts going through people's minds.
A board meeting was held and Liu Wei was introduced as the VP. A few of the older board members were unhappy that such a young girl was easily given the position. They felt that she didn't have the qualifications and experience for such a lofty title. It was understandable because she was young and she never dabbled in business before, she didn't blame their bias ways of thinking.
"I understand how everyone feels but please give me a chance to prove my worth. If by the end of the month I have not helped raised the company's revenue, then I will leave the company. But if its in my favor then I would like your full support from here on out, what do you say?"
Those were bold words. Liu Ho was proud and scared for his sister as it's not easy to raise the revenue as a newby in the business world. As much as he wanted to step in and help her out, one look from Liu Wei made him hold his tongue.
After the meeting Liu Ho was clearly worried for his sister "Sis, you didn't need to make that gamble with the board. With just one word from Grandfather, no one will oppose you."
"I know, but I want to prove to you, dad and grandfather that I am capable. Trust me, this will be a walk in the park" Liu Wei's confidence reassured Liu Ho in the end.
As she entered her office the fragrant smell of roses wafted over, on her desk was a beautiful arrangement of dark red roses. There was a note that said "Congrats!" but nothing else. Puzzled, who could have sent her this bouquet when not that many people knew that she started work at the Liu Corp?
Suddenly her phone rings "Did you receive the flowers I sent you?"
"Su Kai? How did you get my number? I don't recall giving you my cell number..." Liu Wei was stunned but after thinking it over, he is after all one of the big shots so yeah it would be really easy to get her phone number, let alone her other private information.
"A little birdie told me, you never answered my question?" he stated patiently. He wanted to know if the roses made an impact on her, he had to restrain himself from sending her a whole truckload of them. His secretary dissuaded him stating it could be seen as overkill.
"Oh!! how rude of me. I love them they are my favorite! You are so sweet, I didn't know you were such a romantic." she teased him over the phone. He received brownie points for the effort.
"If you have no plans after work, would you like to have dinner with me?" Su Kai nervously asks. Why was he nervous? with a tinge of eagerness too... man this girl made him feel all out of sorts.
"Sure, why not! I still gotta eat. Might as well get a free meal!" she laughs. Her laugh gave him butterflies, it was like the sound of her voice was so melodic.
"okay, I'll pick you up from work at 5pm" afterwards a big grin could be seen spreading across his face. This girl acts like she's broke all the time, but it's so endearing. He was willing to pay for anything she wanted. That was the power she had over him.
