Chương 2: Revealed Secrets

As the young mage headed down to the mostly empty dining room, he yawned and spotted Ms. Rosewood standing and looking around, as if looking for someone. He walked towards her and the tapping of his cane made her turn and notice him, "Good morning, Ms. Rosewood."

"Ah, good morning, Uri."

"Are you looking for someone?"

"As a matter of fact, I was looking for you," Uri looked at her with a slightly confused expression. She led him to a table and gestured for him to sit down, "Nothing really wrong, just checking in with you."

"What about?"

"Recently, we have had some strange magic mutations that have occured in nature, fire and ice student magic," Uri nodded, "Have you felt anything strange or particular recently? In terms of magic surges or something?"

"I saw that spell mutation that happened during Mrs. Solven's teacher in training class," Uri replied, "And about feeling something weird, yes, I have, I was going to go talk to the headmaster about it today."

"How so?"

"Not really supposed to talk about it with people other than Mr. Joren and the headmaster, Ms. Rosewood."

"Oh, well, I guess that I will have to wait to hear about it from the headmaster," She said, seeming rather annoyed about not being aware of the limitations that existed in what Uri could talk about, "Any plans for today?"

"Probably helping Kelly with her magic practice or something like that," The young man replied as an automaton placed a tray in front of him for breakfast, "Have a good day, Ms. Rosewood," She turned back to him and smiled.

"You too," She headed to the door of the building and left as Uri began to eat. Clearly the teachers, or at least the head teachers of each school had talked about the mutations and checking in on him must've been a way to see if there had been more than just a simple miscast or a simple magic surge in the area. His discovery of a fully formed magic spike in the forest would be, in his mind, enough to cause magic of the entire academy's students and teachers to be altered or combined, if there were more of them, it could possibly be the magic of the entire plane if not the neighboring planes as well. Uri slowly walked into the headmaster's office and heard a voice he would call very beautiful, "Thank you, dad, I'll see you later," The tapping of the young mage's cane on the stairs made both turn and look as he slowly made his way up, "Oh, hello Uri, how are you doing?"

"Good morning, Kelly, I was just going to talk with the headmaster," He said as he finally reached the top of the stairs, "About, you know, stuff," She looked at him with a confused expression, "Headmaster?"

"Well, yes, I understand, Uri," Headmaster Solven looked at his daughter and sighed, "Something that is just between Uri and I," Kelly looked at the two of them and seemed even more confused.

"She will know eventually, headmaster," Silence fell in the large office of the headmaster. The three stood in silence for a few moments as the gentle snoring of Owliver seemed to echo throughout the large library that acted as the headmaster's office, "She is a top student and will probably become a teacher if she chooses to do so," Benjamin Solven nodded, "She is also my girlfriend and I am rather tired of hiding this from her."

"Hiding what?" The headmaster gestured for her to sit, "What have you been hiding and for how long?"

"Before you judge him, it was my ruling," The older mage explained, "Ever since the event of Uri's first year, he has had a very advanced connection to the magic of the plane and has been able to feel surges of magic and distortions in it."

"What?" Kelly looked at Uri. He simply shrugged and smiled, "How?"

"The only answer we have is the magic he used that aided him to defend the academy and lead to his permanent injuries opened his magical passages," Kelly, despite being a talent 5th year student, seemed confused by that development, "He is a perfect vessel of any magic and he can react with our 5 senses and a 6th one, that of magical detection, is that an accurate description of your situation?" The life mage nodded, "Very well, now that we have that sorted, please tell me what you wanted to tell me."

"I was walking last night, at around midnight," Uri explained, "Drawn off the path by a sort of magical signal and I found, well, um, something that," Uri mouthed the word seventh and the headmaster nodded, "I found it in the forest and I think that it might be the cause of you know."

"What is this secretive language and way of talking?" The guitar wielding mage asked with a hint of frustration in her voice, "Can I know or not?"

"Have you used your magic recently?"

"Not in 2 days, I have just been doing book work, not magic practice, why? Is something wrong with magic?" A bubble of magic formed in the air after a spell was quickly written out in front of Uri, "Cast a spell, like Dragon's breath, in the bubble," After a moment of hesitation, Kelly did and a stream of molten metal filled the bubble. She looked at her guitar wand and then the bubble.

"Recently, we have detected an alteration of magic in our planes, all schools may be affected by it."

"For what reason?"

"We do not know, Kelly, but it shouldn't be bad."

"What about my exams at the end of the year? How can I pass without being able to correctly cast a 3rd year spell? What is going to happen?"

"Kelly," Uri's voice called her back to reality.

"We are not sure, but the heads of the schools and I have been working on it," He explained, "We will not penalize you for the alterations of your magic as it is not your fault," He stood up, "I have to go with Uri, so do excuse me, Kelly," The headmaster left the duo in his office as he walked down. Uri sighed and looked at Kelly.

"What caused this change in you, Uri?"

"The Dominator's Magic."

"What?"

"The magic I used to defend you and the academy, powerful magic that is strong enough to reconstruct magic," He sighed, finally being honest with her about what happened, "I didn't tell you because it was rather early and your father determined it would be better for now."

"This is a lot you know."

"I know, I am sorry," He sighed, "I have been able to cast spells from all schools, I have tested several things with the headmaster and the other teachers, that is why I wasn't always available to spend time with you."

"Huh?"

"My body isn't limited in magical ability," He put his hand out and pulled her up from the chair, "Let's go, your father is waiting."

"You have explaining to do."

"Lonely bench later?" She nodded and kissed his cheek, "Lucky me."

"No me," She stuck her tongue out and smiled, "Well, you'll tell me what happened later," Her red hair quickly descended the stairs and with a simple bye, the fire mage went past her dad and out of the building as Uri slowly descended. His leg was still extremely limited by his old, nagging injury and slowed him down immensely.

The two mages walked in the forest and Uri led the headmaster to the object he believed was a magic spike, "How would you know this is a magic spike?" The headmaster asked, breaking the silence, "Was this in the book you read to learn your magic?"
