Chương 8: Chapter 8: Prepare for Dinner
After 3 hours, Jiang Xi found herself sitting in restaurant in the mall with the children, who were sitting opposite her and seeming to be discussing where they wanted to go next and made Jiang Xi's feet feel tired. She wondered how the children were able to tolerate walking the mall in heels for so long, as she, who wore sneakers, was finding it unbearable to continue walking anymore. It was a good thing that Yun Jing always came to take their bags back to the car for them so they didn't have to carry as much stuff.
When they went to pick up Clara, the child was also wearing a Lolita style qipao, expect that unlike Luna's sky-blue dress with pink linings and cherry blossom patter, Clara's was black in color with a white outline and a white dragon pattern.
After that, the group made their way to the mall, though Jiang Xi had wanted to go to a discount market instead, but Luna said that they had Li Chen's card and he would feel sad for his hard work if it's not used by his beloved. Later, Jiang Xi saw a text from Li Chen that said that her role today is to play a wayward rich lady, so Jiang Xi had to go to the mall and buy, buy, buy.
Jiang Xi thought that she would only buy a few things for herself and give the rest to her beloved daughter, but it seemed that she underestimated the two seemingly inexperienced little girls beside her. When they got to the mall, the two hit the first brand named store on sight and continued to go through hitting almost all the stores they find attractive and fitting for Jiang Xi. Instead of Jiang Xi being wayward, it was the children who were overbearing and swept through the stores, claiming everything suitable. Most of the time Jiang Xi found herself pushed into the dressing room to change while they parade around the store for good combinations. Later, she had to learn the waywardness from them and say yes to everything Luna said.
When Jiang Xi first complained, Luna warned that she was breaking character and Clara told her that she can take this as practice into the entertainment world and leave everything to their little assistant. Apparently, Clara's mother was once a model and Clara prides herself in being able to match people with the perfect clothes, otherwise she would feel that she had let her mother down. When talking about her mother, Jiang Xi noticed that Clara seemed a bit sad and wondered if she should ask Li Chen about it later.
Seeing that it was lunch time, Jiang Xi wanted to stop at the food court and have lunch before returning home, having no time nor energy left to cook.
After eating, Jiang Xi thought she was finally free, but the girls then dragged her over for cosmetics and accessories. After that, they went to another shop, one that sold Qi Pao. Out of all the shops they've gone through, this one had the most luxurious and expensive clothes.
"Hello," the store employee greeted them. "How may I help you?"
"Hello," said Luna. "I would like to buy a Qi Pao for my mother. Would you please help us look?"
"Of course. May I ask for the occasion?"
"Formal occasion," Luna replied.
"Right this way please."
The employee then showed them through the different range of Qi Pao fit for a party and in the end, they decided on a short pink qi pao with pink laced flower patterns on it. The sleeves came down to the elbow and the skirt fanned out a little instead of showing the hip, going down almost to the knee, while the waste line was tied with a ribbon strip tied into a bow at the front. Luna and Clara had wanted the sleeves and skirt length shorter, and also found that the ones showing the hip looked pretty as well, but Jiang Xi was a bit embarrassed to wear it, so they went with the one she was more comfortable with right now. Of course, Luna also used Li Chen's card to pre-order about a dozen custom made qipao for Jiang Xi.
Finally, they were able to head home and Jiang Xi thought she could get some rest when Luna told her that Jiang Xi needed to change into her newly brought Qi Pao and get dress for tonight.
After Jiang Xi changed, Luna and Clara did her makeup and hair using the new jewelry and cosmetics they brought that day. Once finished, Jiang Xi had to admired herself in the mirror for a few minutes before Luna dragged her out the door and they left for Lotus Pavilion.
At first, Jiang Xi was a bit nervous and thought she might be tricked by Luna into meeting the parents, seeing as everyone, including Yu Jing, were wearing Qi Pao.
When they got to the restaurant, Jiang Xi noticed that all the employees and even some guests wore Xi Pao, and was relieved, thinking that it might be some kind of norm or dress code of the place.
Going up to the counter, the employee said, "Hello. How many for tonight?"
"Reservation," Luna replied.
The employee looked down at the list of reservations for that day and said, "Name please?"
"The Jade on the Moon falls on Tian Xia," Luna replied, seemingly off handed as she pulled out a gold lotus token. "Four peaches look for the door of the Five Families, Bao, Dong, Yuan, Lu, and Li."
The employee looked at the token, smiled and handed it back before pulling out a different list, flipping to the correct page and said, "Please check that it's the correct reservation and initial next to your names."
Luna looked up to Jiang Xi, silently asking to be carried, and Jiang Xi took her up to sign. After that, Jiang Xi and Yun Jing signed before it was passed to Clara. When Jiang Xi had the list, she noticed that aside from theirs and Li Chen's names, there were also eight other names on the list, one of them being Clara's grandfather, Bao Ze Min, and Dong Feng, who already signed in. From that list, Luna also found out Clara's real name, Bao Xin Yi.
Once confirmed, the employee said, "Right this way please."
The employee led them deeper into the restaurant and passed a double door guarded by two bodyguards. They walked down a flight of stairs that branched off into two, the employee led them down the right side and emerged on the second floor of this underground place.
"Is this what I think it is?" Jiang Xi questioned, watching all the stones lining the floor
"You can take it as something like a cultivator's indoor market," Yu Jing answered. "Those shops down there are selling spirit stones, enchanted jewelries, magic weapons, rare herbs, medicines, and pills. There will also be an auction later tonight and by that time, the floor will be cleared up and the stage set."
"An auction?"
"Hmm, the entire reason why we are here is for this," said Yu Jing. "You didn't know?"
Jiang Xi shook her head. "I thought we were only going to have dinner here."
The employee stopped at a double door and led the group into the room, where they found Dong Feng waiting for them.
