Chương 5: Chapter 4
3rd person...
a month has passed and life as a firefighter was beginning to turn out a amazingly great for Diana since her last experience at her old fire station was quite a....bad very bad.
Diana's son Craig is currently at the fish café to play with Sarah and James since she had work most of the time and being around kids was way more better with a lousy babysitter.
"How's Craig been since you've started to work at the fire station leaving him at the fish café?" Jack asked causing Diana to turn around since she was talking to penny and elvis while Sam was checking the equipment downstairs.
"Shouldn't you mind your own business Jackson... Craig is fine and is in trusting arms" Penny said as Diana was left speechless since Jackson bearly even spoke to her or even seen her son since he is hardly out any.
"Sorry, but isn't that place too close to the sea.. what if he drowned huh? What would you do?" Jack said pushing the question more ignoring pennies earning to go away and stop picking on Diana.
"What are you on about? My son knows not to go near dangerous things" Diana responses knowing full well that her son will never put himself at risk like she does for everyone else.
"Well, I don't know... especially when the last emergency you almost got squished by falling burning planks of wood" jack proceeded not noticing that Sam was coming into the staff room hearing some words that should've stayed inside were they belong. "Maybe if you didn't have him you wouldn't be such a failure" he said causing Sam to snap turning the man around aggressively by his collar glaring into his eyes seriously pissed.
"Don't you ever say that about Diana again... do you hear me?" Sam said as jack stayed silent gulped intimidated by him before being chucked onto the floor. "As captain I demand that you keep your mouth shut! That's an order" Sam said looking down at the man before taking a breath in and then out as he made his way to Diana.
"Sorry" she said as he sighed placing his hands onto her shoulders.
"You don't need to apologise, just Don't listen to him you're an amazing mum and I would do anything to make sure that it'll stay that way" he said with a smile causing her to smile back too. Jack was heard getting back up making Sam turn to face him seriously leaving the man trembling in his shoes before leaving them again to speak to station officer steal.
Suddenly the bell began to ring as station officer steal voice café through sharing something absolutely horrific.
"This is an emergency, Craig, Sarah and James are trapped in the forest. Professional medical help is need!" He said as everyone rushed into their stations as Diana joined nurse joy in her ambulance heading straight to the scene.
"If you see anything disturbing, let me know and I'll take over alright? Also stay focused" joy said as Diana sighed hoping that the kids are alright but luck wasn't on her side this time.
It took less than 5 minutes for them to arrive with the Jupiter seeing Sarah and James' parents waving as joy and Diana rushed over to help with the injured even though Diana can do the fire fighting too but Joy needed as much medical help she could get.
"Hurry! I don't know how long he has left" he said making Diana think but she was focused on finding the injured and helping them while Sam and the crew help free them.
"Diana! I need you to stay focused alright don't space out I'm sure Craig is alright" Joy said as they rushed around some tree finally seeing the fallen one that had someone stuck underneath it. Diana looked around only seeing James, Sarah and their mother but Craig couldn't be seen so she got closer to the tree seeing the mother hugging her children as they cried in horror scared of almost being crushed to death.
"Mummy—" a muffled voice was heard calling out as Joy gasped seeing the face stopping Diana with her hand.
"You don't want to see this, trust me" she said seeing Joy expression as Sam and the others caught up seeing the situation knowing something that Diana doesn't. Sam pulled Diana back in instinct.
"I need you to take James and Sarah to the ambulance for a check up, we've got this" Sam said as Diana nodded as their mother escorted them in the direction Diana was taking in a hurry in case they were injured internally or had any opened wounds.
Diana was able to check the twins for any injures and patched up the scratches and checked for any internal bleeding which their wasn't making this a good call to the mother.
"Thank you" Bronwyn said before taking her kids away as Diana stayed at the back of Jupiter waiting for a call.
"Diana!" Sam yelled before pulling to the otherwise in the fire truck out of view of the ambulance as they put the body of the crushed child onto it before allowing nurse joy to rushed to the hospital hoping to save their life.
"What is it? What's happening?" Diana said Confused especially when nurse joy took off to the hospital leaving Diana behind.
"I'll explain at the fire station" Sam said coming with her confusion but was really hiding something absolutely horrifying that would absolutely break her to bits.
"Where's Craig?" She asked as Sam sighed not wanting to answer that before pushing her to the Jupiter's doors.
"We'll talk at the fire station, I promise" he said as they both got into Jupiter with penny before heading back to the station preparing to tell Diana to terrible news.
As they arrived and larked Jupiter everyone seemed to be on edge even jack seeing something that will haunt them forever.
"Diana... in the staff room, please we need to have a chat" station officer steal said not happy leaving Diana more confused as she was followed by Sam and penny to the staff room with station officer steal before taking a seat.
"You sure you're ready for this?" Penny asked as Sam sighed unsure on how long he could keep it in any longer.
"Please even if I'm not I want to know" Diana replied as steal gulped and took a breath in and then out.
"I'm sorry to say this but... your son Craig, he was pronounced dead 5 minutes ago" steal said as everything went silent penny and Sam liked away knowing what's to come.
"You're lying right? Please tell your not lying..... he's all I have left" Diana said as steal shook his head no as the mater works began to come pouring down. "No, no, no... my baby" she said crying soon joined by Sam and penny who also have grown a strong connection with the boy over the past month.
"I'm so sorry.... we were too late to save him" steal said with tears also in his eyes guilty for not being as quick as he used to be.
"But, how? What did I miss" Diana said making herself at fault for not being a good mother to protect her child.
"It wasn't your fault Diana he was completely crushed by the tree" Sam said still remembering the horrifying face he saw of Craig why nurse joy didn't want Diana to see him like that..... blood everywhere even out of his mouth the poor boy ended in a way no one deserved to be taken out by.
"You're saying that,the back of the kid I saw under that tree was Craig!" Diana said shocked before outing her head between her legs, hands on her head crying even more now seeing the image of her son. "I even head him say mummy on last time.... he didn't deserve this!" Diana said again as everyone kept their distance but Sam hugged her since he knew that she needed it, allowing her to sit up and hug him tightly.
"Breath, we'll get through this" he said letting her know that she isn't going through this alone. Suddenly steals sam's phone rang so he pulled from the hug to take it beside Diana.
"Hello?...yeah that's me....yes she is....really! Thank god!! Thank you bye" sam said with relief before turning to Diana with a smile. "He's back" Sam said as Diana didn't now what he was in about.
"What are you on about? We are have a metal crisis right now" penny said as Sam gave her the 'really' look before looking back at Diana with hands on her shoulders.
"Craig is alive!" He said hope began to fill the room again as they hugged each other tightly happy about Craig.
"Are you two sure you aren't a couple?" Penny said they both instantly separated wiping their tears away embarrassed and but red.
"How about you three go see him?" Steal said to them putting the smile back onto their faces again allowing them to get up and head straight to the hospital.
"He's alive but in a coma" the doctor said as Diana sighed worried for Craig since anything could happen when he is in this type of state.
"Will he still be alright?" Diana asked as the doctor was unsure of what to say but he let them in anyway seeing the machines that connected to the poor boy. "Those look very uncomfortable" she said seeing how banged up and pale he looked.
"But he's alive and fighting just like his mother" Sam said with a hand on her back as they stood beside Craig's hospital bed allowing Diana to gently hold her sons hand again as the ventilator was heard helping him breath until his lungs heal to the point of him to breath on his own.
"It hurts to see him like this" Diana replied stilling holding her son's hand as he grew even more sorry for her especially seeing the state Craig is in.
"I'm sure he'll be fine. He's in good hands trust me" Sam replied going down on one knee placing a hand onto her thigh showing his support.
"I believe you..... just keep jack away from me... please" she begged leaving Sam to think before standing up onto his feet again.
"I'll let penny know and we'll find a way to keep his distance from you" he replied as surprisingly penny just came into Craig's room knowing that she is needed.
"So what's the plan?" She asked knowing the situation standing there with honour and a serious face to prevent any unwanted accidents at the fire station or out of the station.
"I guess you'll be part of this plan after all Diana" Sam said with a soft smile as he guided her out of the hospital room and into one of the private lounges nearby to discuss their plan.
"It's obvious that if he plans to get aggressive I'd have to stand in so..... Diana would you be okay with keep yourself away from him as possible if he shows any signs of aggression or anything that gives you bad vibes" Sam said looking at Diana as she nodded agreeing and understanding her position in the plan so far. "Penny, make sure you are quite away from them just in case he thinks he's alone so you can record him and maybe get him fired for this. I don't think steal wants to have a vulnerable firefighter being bullied or anyone by that matter in his station" he said again as penny nodded but it could take days for them to get the right evidence to get Jackson in trouble but it was worth a shot.
"What if he doesn't do any of it anymore....it's just a fact" Diana responded quite confidently especially when it's about Jackson who has been picking on her for quite awhile now but after what he saw he might thought about it or not.
"True, but we can't take any chances. Besides it's the end of our break we need to head back to ponty pandy" Sam said back reasonably but being late and down a few members is quite a risk in case a emergency comes in.
Diana was in the middle of penny and Sam while driving back to ponty pandy in Jupiter not take a break since every fire station needs a fire engine. Diana was beginning to think about her son Craig again.
"You need to put your mind at ease..... empty your mind and think about work for the rest of today because you know Craig is safe in the hospital so stop worrying" Penny said calmly knowing that Diana is gonna have a lot of her mind especially seeing her son in a horrible state that could change at anytime.
"Okay, I'll try not to get distracted I promise" Diana responded as Sam gave a soft chuckle knowing that she can do it especially when she is kinda silly half of the time when it's just those three together and elvis.
Sam was able to get jupiter back into the fire station and turned around with a lever at the back doing the hard job for him as penny and Diana were in the staff room upstairs with elvis and Ben.
"Then I was like give back my sandwich you seagull!" Elvis said which successful brought a smile and a laugh out of Diana once again bringing the other two relief.
"I'm glad that you guys are back, the station was beginning to fill up with seagull jokes from elvis" Ben said glad to have them back anyway but Jackson didn't seem to be in the staff room today.
"Where's umm, you know gone?" Penny said not mentioning his name since Diana was sat next to her driving a cup of tea.
"Oh he's out for a walk, everyone is still in a bit of shock form earlier this afternoon" Ben replied to he question as Sam came through Into the staff room seeing the four at the table.
"No room for me, doesn't matter i wanted to stand up anyway" he said standing beside Diana looking at everyone. "So how was work been since we left?" Sam asked as Ben replied with a 'meh' showing that it wasn't anything serious today which was a relief.
"I made Diana laugh again with a seagull joke Sam!" Elvis said with a laugh proud of himself today not remembering anything at all.
"I know Elvis, her amazing laugh could be heard outside of the door" Sam said patting her shoulder but she wasn't offended since Sam was never the type to offend someone less they do it first or just ignore them.
"I love this cup of tea though" Diana said changing the conversation making laugh laugh as he gently ruffled her hair.
"We all know how much you love your tea Diana as much as you love yourself" he said but the last part wasn't true but she went with it anyway since most of the things her mother and aunt did was blamed on her bringing herself down a lot making her self confidence drop quite a lot.
A couple days later!
After a smelly dirty emergency mission to save a house and then clean the drains a show was high recommended for Diana and the ones who helped her like penny and Sam.
"I smell like out of date fruit" Penny complained as Diana laughed beside Sam who seemed not be bothered but the stink was quite a no blow.
"Can we got back to the station and shower? Ladies first" Sam kindly said but penny seemed to knock down sam's offer.
"No your first, you smell worse than Diana and she went down the furthest" penny replied back stopping Sam from complaining leaving him to sigh knowing he had to choice but to go first now.
"She's right you do stink" Diana said with a little giggle as he smiled glad to see her in such a good mood.
As they got back into the station penny agreed to do the washing before shaking leaving Diana alone after Sam in the unisex changing room.
"Why can't you go in too? There's like two showers in there" lent suggestive knowing it Would mess with Diana knowing how close those two have gotten the last month.
"N-no I prefer to wait" Diana stuttered back in a response embarrassed and not wanting to go in there without any idea which shower he is in.
"No need to be afraid or nervous, I'm done and smelling way better than I did this morning" Sam said surprising her as he was dressed in some of his spare clean uniform. Sam saw how nervous she was going into the area where the showers are since it was unsex changing room. "I'm sure you'll be fine, go shower or smell like a drain for the rest of the day" Sam said with a chuckle giving her a little nudge before walking off leaving her to her own devices.
"You sure leaving the changing room unprotected is a great idea?" Penny asked as they stood near Jupiter knowing that Jackson will be in today.
"I'm sure he wouldn't swoop that low.... would he?" Sam said not knowing him as well as he should've been at the beginning but it was too late for that now.
"I'll be in the staff room if you need me" Penny said before heading towards and up the stairs leaving Sam waiting In the main area for Diana or anything suspicious.
"I can't believe I'm thinking this but I think penny has a point jac—— who's that?" Sam thought seeing a black haired male enter the changing room giving him a horrible gut feeling so Sam decided to go slowly and quietly following the dude inside before noticing that it was Jackson and he was holding a camera in his hand while the shower was running which Diana was inside. He got closer and closer to the shower as Sam was getting closer to beating the crap out of this pervert before jumping at him instinctively when Jackson was beginning to mess with his camera reading it up. Knocking the camera out his hands Sam slammed him against the wall leaving him shocked giving him a serious glare again as Diana's head pooped out of the shower seeing them.
"What's happening?" Diana said before noticing the camera on the floor and Jackson pinned against the wall by sam's arm under his neck, Sam chucked him to the floor leaving his to reach of his camera and rush out like a coward as Sam looked at Diana who was fully out with a towel around her body covering her up shocked and in disbelief.
"I'll sort this out" he said before heading out after Jackson seeing him pinned by penny and Tom surprising Sam.
"Is Diana alright?" Penny asked as she left the pinning to Tom since he was stronger than her physically.
"Yeah, she'll be out soon but where's station officer steal?" Sam asked looking around for him wanting this sick bastard out of the station.
"I'm right here sam, and don't worry he will be fired, Malcolm is coming her right now to arrest him" he relied causing Sam to turn around facing him seeing how serious he was about this. "Perving on a someone who is going through a hard time, shame on you young man" steal said looking at Jackson's eyes which were enraged with anger as Diana came out of the changing room fresh as a daisy before going to Sam and penny.
"You alright? Did he hurt you?" Penny asked leaving Diana shocked but instead of replying she looked at the prevented man.
"No, I am quite disturbed but he didn't hurt...yet" she relied to penny's question in a way that left her confused but if he didn't hurt her but what was he planning.
"Those pictures he was about to take were gonna be used to manipulate you.... I'm not allowing him to do that to someone so vulnerable" Sam said looking at Diana not happy about especially when today started out amazingly well and was ruined by TV is jackass.
"I'm here! Where is he?" Malcom said as Sam pointed near Jupiter allowing the police man to take care of situation for now on.
