Chương 28: Daily Worker [3]

"There, full again," I said as I finished filling up the fountains around the city once more.

The people in Uruk have gotten used to me providing them with water. Gilgamesh hardly sends for more water from the rivers and other sources of fresh water anymore.

It was a little annoying, but I couldn't completely say I'm against it. It's not like making water needs actual effort for me anyway.

"Just another day in Uruk," I mumbled to myself as began walking towards the castle. It became a regular spot to find me nowadays.

The people around the city were less cautious of me now.

Most now consider me something like Enkidu, but without looking human.

I don't actually think I'm anything like him, unless I take up a clay element, but I there WAS this some pride in being compared to Enkidu of all people.

When I walked into the throne room, I was greeted with the unsurprising sight of Gilgamesh not doing work. He was actually sitting with Enkidu playing Uno.

"Hello, Zack," the living chains of heaven greeted me while I came in and sat down. "We just started. Would you like to join?"

"Sure, might as well beat Gilgamesh for the Heck of it," I said with a shrug.

"Delusions are the weapon of the foolish," Gilgamesh huffed holding his cards. "If you believe there is hope for your victory, it would be my pleasure to send you to the pits of despair."

"The only pits of despair in this entire kingdom is probably your throne room when Siduri isn't around to do your work for you," I replied.

Gilgamesh glared. "Pick your leaves and take your defeat."

Enkidu was chuckling as he watched us argue.

I think he was happy to see Gilgamesh open up to more people, or he genuinely enjoyed seeing our childish arguments.

Who knows?

Honestly, I think the reason Gilgamesh managed to open up to Enkidu and them me was because he couldn't do anything to us that would force us to do what he wants. For completely different reasons, of course.

Enkidu was just powerful. That's a fact. He can fight Gilgamesh to a standstill, and that's pretty much how their friendship began.

For me, on the other hand, it's because I can pretty much just walk through anything he sends my way thanks to my elements.

The only exception is Ea, and his pride won't let him use it.

Of course, he actually needs it to stand a chance against the current me, but he still would try to show off his treasury first, knowing him.

"I'll definitely kick his ass," I mumbled as I walked towards the forest nomad section. I was in my fire element. The reason for that is because

it was nighttime and I didn't feel like holding a torch to walk around in the dark.

Street lights obviously are not a thing yet. My match with Gilgamesh ended in three wins for me and Gilgamesh each. It was a draw.... if you don't count Enkidu's five wins, that is.

I reached and tilted my head in confusion.

The people there were still awake. Many of the standing at the far end of the section, holding torches and surrounding

something. "What's going on?" I asked while walking towards the people but still keeping some distance to not burn them.

"Ah, great Zack is here, Baraka!" One of the people yelled out. They seemed excited.

Baraka walked between the people with a big smile on his face. "Great Zack, we have requested for a large clay plate in order for us to prepare a gift for all you have done for us."

With that said, the people began making way for me to see what they were standing around. (Oh, god, please no,) was the only thought that came to my mind.

It was a large plate that fitted into the wall, making a kind of mural. What was inside was two drawings.

The first drawing was a basic group of people, sitting on the ground and krieeling in front of something.

My problem was with what they were sitting in front of. On the far left of the mural was a large figure. The figure was humanoid from the waist-up, with claws and fangs, and the waist down more like a tree bark with roots flowing to the ground.

There was writing under the mural, but I obviously didn't know what it says since I can't read this language yet.

"Do you like it?" One of children asked.

Honestly, this was way too much unnecessary attention. I was not some divine or higher entity, and these people were putting me on a pedestal that quite frankly was too much for me.

But looking around, I couldn't say that. They were looking expectedly and even hopeful of a good reaction. Even if I hated it, this was something they worked hard on for my sake.

"It's... not a usual gift, but it is still really beautiful," I said, trying my best to sound proud. The people obviously became happy and began talking amongst themselves.

Is this what a parent felt when their child tried to make a drawing of them?

Honestly, I don't even want to think on what the people of the future will think of this with time.

Anyway, there's something I needed to ask. "Baraka, please tell me that the writing here doesn't call me abgod of any kind."
