Nicolai walked over to the door where Arabella was standing. When the man stepped close to her, the woman stepped back as she could see that Nicolai was looking at her with an unnerving smile on his face. 

"It's great to see you, Arabella," Nicolai greeted the woman. "How are you doing now? The bullets have been taken out of your body, right?" 

Arabella shuddered while looking at him nervously. She was still resting in the hospital as her injuries were still fresh and she didn't want to go home as her husband had been harping about getting a divorce. He continued to yell at her as he told her that it was her fault that he was now jobless and his company had gone bankrupt.

How was she supposed to know that Ariana was the long-lost daughter of the Ashford family? Arabella felt like someone was playing a joke on her.
