Chương 14: into the unknown

Amelia's heart raced as Enzo dragged her through the back door and into the cool night air. The chaos inside the house was still ringing in her ears the sounds of shouting, gunshots, and the thundering footsteps of people who were clearly not here for peace. She tried to pull her arm free from Enzo's grasp, but his fingers tightened around her wrist, his grip unyielding.

"Where are we going?" she demanded, her voice trembling but firm. She couldn't just let him take her wherever he wanted. She needed answers, but Enzo didn't seem to care.

"Quiet," he snapped, his face hard, his eyes dark with something she couldn't quite read. "We're getting out of here, and that's all you need to know."

They reached the back of the property, where a sleek black car was waiting. Enzo pushed her toward the passenger seat, and without waiting for her to protest, he slammed the door shut. He slid into the driver's seat, his movements sharp, like he was preparing for a fight.
