Chương 201: Chapter 9 Little ratmen

The young hawk squawks as she brought an edible plant to Licht, showing her achievements with a proud look while glancing at Chono who was pissed off by this little brat.
As a divine wolf, he was proud and elegant, but this little bird kept getting on his bad side since the first moment when they had met. She seemed to recognize his identity and she was deliberately getting on his nerves because ice and fire hate each other.
Although she liked Licht's cold energy, she hated Chono's absolute coldness which even erodes sun flames. So, she tried to make a rift between him and Licht, but this wolf was more stubborn than she thought. However, that was alright because they were heading to a place where they worshiped Sun God. There she could get a little bit of help to get rid of this wolf, but now she had to wait.
Agam who saw the bickering between two animals, thought it was cute. He knew the wolf was a spiritual animal since it kept leaking out cold energy from his body even in this hot desert and he wasn't bothered by the heat even a little bit. Moreover, he also noticed this wolf was quite prideful as it followed Licht and didn't give attention to others despite others talking to him.
" Your wolf seems to be quite intelligent like the hawk. Can he understand human languages?"
He asked, handing out a premium beef jerky from his backpack. Chono smelled it once before eating it calmly. However, when he was just about to finish his meal, he smelled something. Something so terrible that he unconsciously whined out in surprise of others.
He placed his front paws on his nose, trying to block out the smell that was flooding his senses.
" What is wrong buddy?"
Daemon asked in concern, not knowing what to do. Unfortunately, they found the answer sooner because the horrible stench that made Chono paralyzed came right to them as they almost passed out from the smell except Agam.
Agam furrowed his eyebrows, taking out a mask from his backpack.
" Ah, I know this smell. Looks like we have met with a few rat men. Don't worry about anything because they are intelligent and they like shiny things, so if you are interested you can exchange some good items with them like their world known hand made cheese. This pungent smell should be coming from their newly made cheese since they use various poisonous herbs to season them."
Agam explained, pointing at the huts that were standing near the desert hills. They saw a well and a few little humanoid creatures talking to each other.
" Do you have any other mask?"
Mikael asked while pinching his nose with a blue face. However, he was naive to believe in Agam who sought treasures throughout his life. He showed a money sign while pointing at his mask.
Mikael's veins bulged as he took a deep breath to calm down. He turned around, seeing Licht who was holding a sack of gold. Agam took the money while handing out the masks and some kind of paper.
" Well, I didn't scam you like you think. I gave you something equal to your money since I am a fair man."
Agam said, showing paper with some kind of symbols on it. The squad was puzzled by his actions except for Licht who could interpret most languages in the world thanks to Viktor. He saw this language was similar to the old Beast Man language and had similarities with the southern generic language.
" This is an exchange token."
He spoke calmly, putting the item in his pocket. Agam nodded at his words, not showing any surprise since Licht was freely talking in the Southern language without any dialects. Furthermore, he also mentioned he was a scholar before and his brother was even smarter than him.
" That patch of paper can give you a chance that you can't get in any normal way. Honestly, ratmen are managers of the fortress city that we will come through soon and if we get their tokens now, we can talk with rat-men in the fortress and get a chance to visit the infamous black market."
Agam said, showing a serious face.
