The streets of the slums weren't clean as the upper districts, but they weren't that bad either except for a certain fishy smell. The officers walked through the streets with a heavy look while looking around because they could feel the gazes around them and they were observing them without any expression on their faces, not giving a damn about their thoughts.
Mark placed his hand on his gun with an annoyed look since he was one of the few regulars in the district. He could tell what they wanted to do since they loved taking something from the uppers. Especially, any valuables on their body due to the lawless zone.
" Don't let your guard down, rookie. The fishes aren't fresh here. When you see its rot, it would fend you off."
He said, showing his serious side to him. Since the beginning he never loved visiting here, especially venturing into the core of the district. It was looking for a death in the core.
" We ain't gonna go to the core, but if you see any suspicious movement, immediately pull up your gun and shoot them before you turn into a cold hard corpse. I don't want to clean up some mess of meat from the streets."
Mark warned him with a stern voice while walking to the area where they had found the traces of the drugs. The ominous feeling was ringing in his head for an unknown reasons, hence he decided to be careful in this mission.
Colena was also stressed by his warning because she could tell Mark was anxious and as a partner of him, she could tell he was feeling bad. Moreover, his intuition was so accurate that she even wonders if he was some kind of a prophet sometimes.
" Yes, sir. I will be careful."
Jason saluted nervously, knowing this man would turn into a monster if he did something wrong. The aura which he was giving off, was dark and gloomy filled with bloodthirst.
Colena didn't mind him as she followed the route behind Max who was guiding them through the streets. The streets were getting narrower as the tiles of the road showed various erosion and damage due to the time with the waste by other people.
The disgusting smell of the sewers pierced through the noses as their faces showed displeasure and disgust from the source. No wonder, the merchants had abandoned this godless place.
" Let's hasten up. The church is up ahead and don't worry about the smell. The church is clean and people love to stay there because they don't have the smell."
Mark said, pointing to the area which was composed of big land, unlike the old shabby houses. They could see the green lawn and plants on the ground that were growing beautifully in the shadows of poverty.
Sniff*
The pleasant smell of cleanliness reached their noses as they opened the door with courtesy and politeness because this was the least they could do for the owner before the inspection.
Mark saw the old man who was praying on the ground with a kind look while looking up at the glass that was shining brightly. He noticed their silhouettes and got up from the ground with a slight difficulty because of his age.
" Hello, officers. How can I help you?"
He asked kindly even though they had bad names in the streets. He was looking at them with his calm and gentle eyes, befitting of his name of his. Mark could tell he was an extremely kind person whose kindness illuminated this area. Therefore, he subsequently showed his respect, taking off his hat to respect him.
" Father, we have received a report about the drugs here. May I conduct an investigation in your humble home?"
Although he was a rough person, he didn't hesitate to talk reasonably. Colena and the intern opened their mouths with big ○ shapes, not understanding his changes because he was cursing like a madman a minute ago and now he somehow turned into a noble.
The father was taken aback by his politeness since he didn't hear the such a tone for a long time. He smiled, gesturing him to check around to his heart's content.
" Do as you wish, my child. I believe our community doesn't have such substances."
He grinned brightly, not knowing what was going to happen to him.
