Chương 8: Ranging Revolver
I climb the staircase in a rushed manner. I'm almost late but I'm actually not. Just about 60 seconds and my session starts. I push the door on the second floor a little too hard. The door swings open and I enter and stoop to my knees. No food and loss of blood are what I should be blaming. Claire Voyage is standing still and watching me grunt.
I stand still for a moment with all my might
" Black Marker reporting with Dan Wensson 4 co2 bb Revolver " after screaming that standing upright, I get back to my knees once again to breath. Claire is still watching. She checks her watch after a minute. I've unsupervised sessions, Sooo.. If she is here that only means one thing. My nemesis Enz Wilson walks into the Shooting range with much more pride.
" Golden Marker Reporting " he says coolly.
'Why do I have to run into jerks all day?' I think to myself. But Enz is so much better than Rum. I like and love one thing about Enz.
Both of us stand in firing distance. Suddenly Enz walks up to Claire and whispers something into her ear. She nods her head. " Okay, both of you surrender your weapons! " She shouts. I give her a perplexed look. Enz hands his gun and raises both his hands acting as if he is really surrendering. I walk up to her and give her my Revolver.
"Both of you will take this..." She hands each of us Ruger American Pistol Duty. We have the same weapon now. So... He is challenging me to shoot without my revolver. I'm an expert in multiple shots with my revolver and that's why people call me 'Black Marker' partly the name is taken from my usual black Hijab and the black Dan Wesson revolver I own.
We position ourselves and Claire Shouts
"SHOOT !"
I pull out the magazine from the Pistol and fix it with my dominant left hand and position the Pistol in my right hand and shoot.
My first target hits the center, the second one hits the last circle and the third one hits somewhere between the two shots. Meanwhile, Enz who is infamously named as the 'Golden Marker' has managed to shoot every shot in the center.
Claire announces the result " Black Marker wins this round! "
I can sense his glistening grey eyes gaping at me with rage. I feel like he wants to pierce a steel rod right into my chest. But that's how it is. I have positioned myself and shot my shots three seconds earlier than him. The time frame is what matters. Even with my revolver, There is a possibility that I would miss at least one shot. But my timing is calculated and precise. Anyway, That doesn't make me feel any good. He is supposed to be in the first place and hold a grudge towards me. But he doesn't have any personal grudge towards me and that is the one thing I like about him.
Both of us step aside and stand facing each other. I cross my right arm to my left shoulder and nod. He crosses his left arm to his right shoulder and bows a little. This is the one thing I love about him. The first time he offered his hand for the usual shake after our shooting session, I straight out refused by crossing my arm to my torso which makes him feel like he was a threat. He respected my decision and ever since, He does the same move and even bows to me. He walks out of the academy without a word. I watch him leave, Each step he takes gives me a heavy feeling in my chest.
I go to the table and furiously grab my Revolver and shoot a few times. None of my shots hit the target. I sigh and drop my arm, griping my revolver. Claire walks to me and holds my left shoulder for a while and walks out. I go on for few more rounds furiously than intended. I want him to win, He should be defeating me with closed eyes but I want him to do it fair and square. I extend my hand once more. Before I could fire, Someone grabs my wrist and yanks it backward. I stare into ranging eyes, what have I got myself into ?! ...
