Chương 96: Chapter 95: Bidding farewell

"So your already going?" Wu Ling asked with slight worry in her voice as she look at the young man in front of her, now holding a familiar long sword in his hands and was standing in the middle of her backyard with the light of the moon illuminating them.

Standing besides her was her daughter Wu Siduo, who apathetically stared at Xiu Ye with crossed arms over her chest. She had mixed feelings for the boy in front of her, both of them did. Although he had intruded into their home and almost killed her, he had showed to be very apologetic of his actions and was polite to them afterwards. He tried to make up for his actions as well–by subtly paying them half a million soul coins through the broken wares and ruined sandwiches she dropped onto the floor.

When Wu Ling saw her soulpay account reaching six numerical digits she almost went faint on the floor.

It was no secret, to anyone that knew of them, that her family's financial situation was bad, almost to the point that the government would take their every belongings–from the house to the very clothes that they wear, everything. God, thinking about her situation gave her a headache. What's worse was that they couldn't go to anyone for help.

They weren't like this beforehand, not until her husband's death that is...

Even still, Wu Ling couldn't just accept the money she was given. It was too much for just some broken pieces of wares and messed up sandwichs, hell, it shouldn't had costed about a hundred soul coins! The guilt and shame of taking advantage of a young man like Xiu Ye, a very polite and reasonable boy, was something that she couldn't handle. Even her daughter felt the same way.

Despite how she acted towards him, and her warrior mentality of the strong rule and the weak submits, Wu Siduo was someone who would fight for justice and righteousness. Sure she would try to take advantage of someone for the sake of her mother's but not to the point of bleeding that person's cash into nothing.

She was someone with a kind heart, although it was buried deep within layers upon layers of ice cold walls created by experiencing a small portion of the harsh reality of society, she was still someone who wouldn't want to unnecessarily hurt someone, whether it be mentally, physically and financially.

Wu Ling and Wu Siduo both tried to convince Xiu Ye to take back all of the money he gave them, but he just wave off their attempts and would shift the subject to the point of him making them dinner since the sandwiches Wu Ling had made was ruined. He had found out that those sandwiches she made was their dinner.

After hours of trying to persuade him, they eventually gave up and decided to try to help him in anyway that they can. He had help temporarily them out of their financial situation after all, it's the least that they can do.

Wu Siduo even decided to try and befriend him, which lead to Xiu Ye getting her number and a promise that the two should hang out when they had the time.

Although she didn't trust him at first, still feeling a little bit distrustful, she was still a child who wanted to make some friends after all.

Of course, Xiu Ye planned all of this out. It wasn't really hard to find out that they had some money problems, especially since he could hear them talk about it in another room with his spiritual sense.

He needed them to be in debt with him, especially Wu Siduo. All he needed to do was give them a lot of money and they'll feel grateful about it.

Is it morally wrong for him to manipulate their feelings to benefit him? Yes. Does he feel bad about it? Not really. He wasn't really losing much by giving them a million soul coins, truthfully, they had benefited more from this. Their money problems was temporarily solved and Wu Siduo would be getting stronger if she officially joins him–which would benefit him as well. It's win-win situation. Everyone would be happy.

He wanted her to be a part of the plan 13 as soon as possible, even if he had to manipulate her into it.

Xiu Ye softly smiled at them. "Sorry for the intrusion and for the whole, almost beheading you thing."

Wu Ling giggled and shook her head. "No, it's alright. It was all just a misunderstanding and really, we should be the ones to be thankful to you. For what you just did..."

Xiu Ye cut her off with a wave of his hand. "Ah, don't worry about it. It's nothing much. I just wanted to help you ladies."

`So he does know.' Wu Ling wearily smiled at the boy. She wasn't all that surprise that he knew about it. Although she only knew about him for a short period of time, it was enough for her to get a grasp of his character.

By her side Wu Siduo tilted her head down for a moment before staring back up towards Xiu Ye, a determined expression on her face as she went in front of him. Only to tilt her head back to stared straight at the latter's eyes.

The height of Xiu Ye had made both mother and daughter initially thought of him as someone who was fifteen or sixteen years old until he clarified his age during the little time of dinner they all had a few minutes ago.

"Xiu Ye, are you going to Shrek academy later?" She straightforwardly asked.

"Hm." Xiu Ye nodded.

"Good." Wu Siduo nodded and paused for a moment before muttering, "...Good luck, with everything." and promptly went back to her mother's side.

Xiu Ye smirked at the retreating figure of Wu Siduo and acted as if he didn't understand the underlining meaning of her words.

`Don't worry Wu Siduo, I won't be going anywhere else just yet. Shrek Academy is the place where I'll get Na'er and finally find out the truth of this world's history.'

Xiu Ye didn't waste any more time and immediately retrieved his soul communicator from his pocket and contacted Tang Wulin once more. The device rang for a second before the call finally connected.

"Ye, is that you?" Instead of the youthful voice of his cousin, a familiar cold voice sounded out from the device and into his ears.

"It's me teacher Wu and don't worry, I'm fine." Xiu Ye wasn't surprise to hear the voice of his teacher. "So you already finished your meeting? Did Tang Wulin already tell you? Are you at a secure area right now?"

The line on the other side went silent for a moment.

"...I have a lot of questions Xiu Ye, but I guess that's not important right now. Yes, I'm at a secluded area with no recording devices together with the rest of your classmates." Wu Zhangkong let out a sigh. "Also, hurry up and get in here already. Your friends are really worried about you, to the point that they're starting to annoy me."

Xiu Ye chuckled at the mental image of teacher Wu's distressed expression. It was really amusing as it was rare for the ice cold teacher to show any emotion.

"Just send me a picture of the place where you guys are and I'll be there shortly." He got a grunted reply before he remembered something important. "Oh, and ah, when you happen to see dark-blue flaming clouds appearing right in front of you, don't freak out alright?"

"...Okay." Wu Zhangkong replied nonchalantly.

Just a moment later Xiu Ye received a picture of a almost completely white room with some lighting to brighten the room: no windows and it only had one single metal door. Xiu Ye was relieved to see his friends included in the picture.

This just made it slightly easier. He pocketed the soul communicator back into his pocket.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath in, and held the handle of the Yamato tight in his hand. Feeling the raw presence of space and demonic essence exuding from the sword.

Using the Yamato, was both easy and hard. It was easy because all you gotta was imagine the place, person, or thing you wanted to go to and slice the space in front of you to connect your current location to where you gotta go. But the hardest part of it was in the control and practice part. You have to control the spacial power of the sword when you create a portal, or wormhole really, because if not the entire portal would either collapse on itself from the world trying to patch up the hole in space or the place you were going to go to, or more specifically, the person you were going to teleport to would be ripped apart from a spacial crack.

Xiu Ye had gotten extremely lucky that neither things had happened to him when he did a quick escape from Na Nali using the Yamato.

But now though, he has enough time to properly copy the experience and techniques of the previous users of the sword and trace it into himself.

Xiu Ye slightly tilted Yamato, bare and raised over his head, and slowly channeled his soul power into the sword.

His eyes monetarily turned demonic, his once natural golden irises turned eerie yellow and its scleras turned as black as ink.

He followed through the experiences of the previous users of the Yamato. His instincts of copying and using other mythical weapons in his inner world followed through once more.

The night wind ruffled his hair as he sliced the space in front of him in a straight vertical line, ripping apart the space in front of him into two and creating a portal of dark-blue flaming smoke. In the inside of the portal was nothing but absolute darkness, also known as the void.

"Oh my." Wu Ling gasped in amazement of the portal, her hand covering her open mouth. This was the first time she'd seen something like that.

"Woah..." Wu Siduo was feeling the same as her wide eyes and slacked-jaw were anything to go by.

Xiu Ye has the admit, since he didn't have to time to look it properly, the portal was pretty cool.

He looked over his shoulder, staring right at the two girls, and said. "Well then, this is goodbye! I hope I would see you both again. Take care!"

The two snapped out of their thoughts and immediately started waving their hands at Xiu Ye and yelled out their goodbyes.

"Bye! Take care!" Wu Ling said, waving her hand while she tilted her head, closed her eyes and smiled at him.

"Bye!" Wu Siduo simply said.

Xiu Ye smiled at them and stepped right through the portal began to be enveloped by darkness and he and the portal disappeared.

.....

"So, have you finally decided to follow your dream?" Wu Ling asked her daughter as they both entered their home.

Wu Siduo looked at her mother in confusion before her eyes widened in realization and her expression turned complicated. "Mom, I–"

Wu Ling interrupted with a shake of her head and stared straight at her. "Kitten, ever since you were a toddler, you wanted to become someone like your daddy. You wanted to become strong, to protect the ones you love. And I fully support that decision of yours, despite my wish of you living a normal peaceful life..."

Wu Siduo smiled apologetically. "Sorry mom."

Her mother merely chuckled. "Well, I already came to terms with it. You have your father's pride and stubbornness after all." Her eyes sparkled. "But you inherited most of your mother's great genes, I wouldn't be worried of you finding any good boyfriend in the future. Ah, it would be great if you managed to make that Xiu Ye kid fall in love with you."

Her cheeks instantly turned pink and began sputtering, "M-M-Mom! What are you saying?!"

"Fufufufu," Wu Ling giggled with her hand over her mouth in response to her daughter's cute response. 'She's always fun to tease, like her father.'

Her lovely smile slowly turned sad. "...I know that you didn't accept the recommendation letter to enter the special channel of Shrek Academy, given by the principal, because you wanted to continue staying here to protect me."

Wu Siduo flinched, her eyes widened, and she turned to look away from her mother. Suddenly finding the floor much more interesting to look at...

Her mother let out a sigh. "I knew from the start, I just didn't say anything because I didn't want to become separate from you either Kitten. Not only because you're my daughter, and my bodyguard , but also because your still ten years old. You're still young to go and venture out to the world. I wanted to wait until your thirteen or fourteen years old to be separate from me..."

Wu Siduo spoke up. "Then why are we having this conversation mom? The enrollment for Shrek Academy isn't until three later after all, so we still have the time to be together until then." She was soon surprise to find herself within the embrace of her mother.

"Mom?" She questioned quietly as she felt the hand of her mother rubbing her back soothingly.

Wu Ling hummed softly. "You've hit a limit dear."

Wu Siduo's eyes widened.

Her mother continued on. "Anyone else wouldn't have notice, but I'm your mother. I can easily see through you getting angry and frustrated during your trainings. At first I didn't understand why, not until I saw your school tournament and saw you easily beat all the students there, even your seniors weren't a match for you."

She let out a sigh once more.

"Kitten, I know that I might not be a soul master but I am a competent adult that had been some military training by your father. Trust me when I say this, I can handle myself well."

"...Why are you saying all this?" Wu Siduo tightened her hold onto her mother.

Wu Ling hummed and began rocking her daughter slowly on place. "Who knows? Call it a mother's intuition. But here's an advice for you my dear daughter, that my mother before me and hers told me: always follow your heart. If you can't even live your life to the fullest, then what's the point of living?"

The conversation then died down but the mother and daughter duo continued to be in each other's embrace.
