Chương 68: Delay
General Rengyotsu teleported to Dark's location to appear on a tree opposite the one he stood waiting.
The sorcerer wore all black his usual outfit with a hood over his face that only exposed his lower jaw and mouth.
A smile broke across his lips as Ren appeared.
He removed the hood to exposed his scared face partly covered by the hair which concealed almost half of it,his smile widening even more.
"General Ren... you've been chasing me so I stopped to know why"he said spreading out his hands before returning them back at his side.
Ren didn't answer, just gave him a poisonous glare which only seemed to elate his mood even more.
The excitement on Dark's face agitated him and how he could smile at a time like this.
They were surrounded by packs of wide beasts and all they were after was the head of an innocent person.
Ren spat out the poison and the sorcerer's gaze travelled from him to his injured hand.
"Still alive are we?...I'd expect nothing less from the strongest general....you do live up to your reputation".
Ren scoffed and wiped off a spittle from his lips.
"Your poison has no effect on me_"
"You talked General"Dark didn't hide his surprise"And such a charming voice can't recall the last time I heard a word fall off those lips....I mean,I didn't think I would live to hear another of it..."
Dark folded his hands and looked serious.
"...But of cos the poison was meant for the emperor's Knight not you....if you're off the plot you dont need to get in our way"
"The child is not what you think...you have to stop this"
Dark smirked then let out a dark chuckle.
"I don't care what he is...you think the prophecy matters to me?or what happens to your beloved realm?....am in the plot for my own reasons which you know all too well..."
"Revenge"
Dark glared at him
"You're quite clever General...no doubt you would be seeing you're far older than me I still wonder how you're able to keep your youth without sorcery... just how long have you lived?.... aren't you tired of serving the imperial bloodline? you've served the dead emperor and even the one before that don't you_"
"Whatever you do...if you ever touch a hair on the people I care about,I'll make sure you breathe your last the very second you do"
"Really...and who are the people you care about....when did the cold General begin caring about another soul?"
Ren didn't respond,just eyed him like an injured beast.
"Is it the child you care about?....really what did that creature do to charm you?....or is it the emperor whose beloved you played a hand in taking from him".
When Ren didn't respond,only balled up a fist which remained at his side,dark only seemed to get more excited.
"I also stopped here to warn you...we have evidence to frame you got the Empress's death as well as your breaking into Anthagord's harbour to steal the opposing spell for Delu's barrier..."
Dark's last words struck him.
They knew all along...thats right there might be an insider in sorcerer city headquarters supplying them with information and they had probably planned for him to go all along to have things to use against him and what did he mean by an evidence...more importantly,who was it?
"I didn't kill her!"Ren snapped.
"General Ren_gyotsu....we all played a hand in her death...do I jog up your memory a bit since it's a little foggy?...Athena and I poisoned the empress while you let the poison leach faster into her bloodstream, infecting her with a rare blood disease, reversing the effects of the healers upon her as well as preventing her from healing.... You let it circulate in her blood!"
Ren lowered his head as memories of that day came flooding in filling him with both guilt and regret.
He had made a mistake by partaking in a plot which had cost the life of someone Tyran loved.
He had been fooled and mislead by a prophecy they all believed in, he couldn't take back what had happened that day , couldn't bring the empress back nit he swore with his life to protect her son to make up for his mistakes.
Within him he knew he deserved death as punishment but he would live for the imperial prince's sake and would rather die protecting him.
Dark laughed then frowned.
"She trusted you how could you?"he said mockingly.
Rengyotsu clenched his teeth,then teleported to the tree dark was on and gripped his cloak at his chest, tightly pulling on it.
His Scarlet eyes stared into Dark's flaring with rage.
Dark didn't flinch.
"You should learn to seal those lips of yours General...what am I saying you're good at it".
Dark spread out his arms.
"Well you just have to become even more good at it that is unless you want the Emperor to find out that his precious General took the life is his beloved".
Ren snarled at him, fighting off the impulse to transform and bite off his head.
"Face it General Ren,we have you by the tail and you have no where to go...All you have to go is to be a good general and hush out on all this,then the truth remains hushed with us as well,fair isn't it?"
Rengyotsu pullrf on his cloak and flung him off the tree.
Dark landed on his back with his arms and legs spread out laughing.Meanwhile the impact of his body against the forest floor had carved the exact shape of his body in the ground.
Dark didn't stop laughing,it pissed Ren off even more.
Rengyotsu jumped off the tree his feet landing with a great force that it shattered the earth below him.
He walked up to dark and raised him slightly above the ground, grabbing on his cloak in the middle of his chest.
Ren balled up a fist ready to bury it in his face when Dark stopped laughing,a menacing look on his face.
"Is it just the emperor and the imperial prince you care about General Ren?....earlier today there was some other person I figured you cared for to the extent of getting poisoned in his stead even when you could smell the arrow was poisoned from afar....what's his name again?....ahhh!.. Gerald is it?"Dark raised a mocking brow.
"Aren't you wondering what has become of him right now while you're busy hitting on your new found crush?"
Dark words hit him.
What has become of him?what he meant by that....now he understood why dark had kept running to lure him far away from the knight...he had even kept him busy talking here , Athena,Dark and the princes were here probably some others he knew nothing about them being part of the plot...Dark had kept him here buying time for the others to__No!
The General dropped Dark and swung his fists at him,hitting his cheek and making Dark drop to the floor,the pain only seemed to trigger his laughter once again .
Ren turned to leave but took one last look at Dark who kept laughing while staring at the trees above him.
How he so much wanted to pull out his heart and chew on it,but there was no time for that now.
The next time he met him he would make sure his breathe would be his last and if anything happened to the emperor's Knight,he would swear to it.
Since they had him by the neck,the Emperor's knight was the only one who could unravel the truth to Tyran.
He had no right either,he took the Empress from him,he could never forgive himself and was just as guilty as the rest of them.
If there was anywhere to begin his search for the knight,it would be the exact same place he met him before going after Dark.
