Chương 2: Chapter 2: I am a Bat?!!
'No way, it can't be right? I am okay if I were to be a normal human mortal as it'd still be relatively easy to reach immortal realm, no matter how trash the talent were to be. I'd reach immortal realm in about 1000 years but now what? I am a motherf*cking bat?!!!'
The bat, of whom he had taken possession of, had little to no talent and it only had a slight chance of even becoming a qi condensation expert that too if he practiced hard for decades but unfortunately for him his lifespan was only 20 years.
After that he cursed for a long time but sadly for him, he was a bat so even if he cursed the way a human does no one would understand him.
'Calm down! On the positive side, I can evolve to another higher being and if I become the progenitor of that race, I'll receive merit and that'll make me an immortal sooner.... but making a new race is even more of an impossibility, It's been millions of epochs since someone has become the progenitor of their race and ascending right after as it's basically impossible.'
Making a new race might sound easy but it's not easy at all as evolution is always an impossibility as there is only a one in a billionth chance for evolving into a new species as it basically relies on fortuitous encounters and even if one does succeed the evolution could go wrong and they might degrade too or the evolving species may be worse than the already existing species and thus they won't get merit. Then ascending because of merit by making a race is even more impossible as that'd only happen if one's race had potential a whole level above his original race. It was only possible if one's race was a monkey a few years ago and then evolved into a human in another few years.
'Sigh, first let's check this body's status and put the original owner's memories in order.'
This bat lived in a forest, an unnamed forest. It was alive for about 3 years and still hadn't become a body tempering expert, in short it was a gone case.
The cultivation levels of the mortal world went as,
1st Stage - Body Tempering (9 levels)
2nd Stage - Qi Condensation (9 levels)
3rd Stage - Foundation Building (Depends, will explain later in the novel)
4th Stage - Golden Core (Depends, will explain later in the novel)
5th Stage - Nascent Soul (Depends, will explain later in the novel)
6th Stage - Soul Formation (4 levels)
7th Stage - Body Transformation (4 levels)
8th Stage - Fusion (4 levels)
9th Stage - Tribulation (Depends, will explain later in the novel)
Body Tempering didn't require talent at all, in fact even a normal pig could go through body tempering. Almost everyone could become a body tempering expert.
For Body Tempering though the threshold was low the resources required were a lot. Resources required were Body Tempering Arts which were quite easy to procure but the most important thing were Body Tempering Elixirs but that is so for humans. For demonic beasts just breathing in the spiritual qi for a long time could make them body tempering experts but the bat that Xie Ming had possessed was a coward and didn't have the courage to even try to breathe in spiritual qi as he thought that it was dangerous.
'Ok, since I don't have talent, first I'll need to devour living beings. Not just their soul but their whole body. No wait I'm a fruit bat, sigh, let's use the [Heaven Devouring Art] on plants then.'
Deciding to use devouring art on plants, he flapped his wings and arrived at the nearest plant with the slightest bit of spirit energy.
"Not bad, a Body Tempering level 1 plant, it'll be a good meal, for this body that is."
Xie Ming channeled the art through his body and used it on the plant and next at a speed visible to naked eye the plant started withering and soon withered completely.
Xie Ming had devoured three things, one, soul origin as his soul was very weak after escaping, he needed to mend his soul as soon as possible, the second, the plant's spiritual qi and lastly the plant's lifespan so that he could increase the lifespan of this body.
'The hell is the talent of this body? If it were my original body at the same level, I'd be able to devour at least 40% properly but this body couldn't even devour 0.1% of it properly.'
'Never mind, after evolution this body's talent will natural improve.' thought Xie Ming with determination.
And so after a few days and devouring of at least a thousand plants,
'Finally, this waste of a body has finally entered Body Tempering Stage 1.' internally shouted Xie Ming excitedly.
'Now I can start my evolution, for my evolution as I'm a fruit bat I can evolve to a vampire bat first.'
'To do so let's return to this body's original home. A cave near the entrance of the forest. There were around a thousand bats there so if I devour them one by one, I'll surely evolve in to a vampire bat sooner or later.'
And so Xie Ming started flying towards the bat's home.

After a few days.
"I am finally here, this stupid bat and his brother couldn't even remember their home's location properly so I'd to search for it for so long." said a bat whose wings were fluttering, it was even bigger compared to other bats. If a cultivator were to see this he'd be able to tell that this bat had reached Body Tempering level 1, naturally he was Xie Ming.
'That delay was not without gains, I devoured a few fish, frogs and insects on the way here. I also devoured another bat, it was apparently this bat's half brother and it had reached Body Tempering level 1, it was still comparatively easy to defeat as he'd just broken through and still didn't know how strong it was. Well, my theory also got confirmed, after I devoured the bat, my canines grew a bit so as long as I can eat a hundred or so bats I'll surely become a vampire bat.'
'I'll evolve into a vampire bat then to some higher organism and then I'll surely take my revenge, just wait for me, you blasted Righteous 9' thought Xie Ming as his eyes flashed with great hatred.

Imperial Court, Great Chaos, Immortal World
"Your Majesty, we were unable to kill Xie Ming and acquire the inheritance of Heaven Devouring Monarch, please punish us!" said a figure kneeling in front of a man who sat on the throne. That man was adorned with a robe, a robe with five golden dragon claws signifying that he was the Emperor. Behind the figure who was kneeling there were another eight figures kneeling. The figure who had said this was naturally the head of the Righteous 9.
Though his face said that he was calm but not his heart, he was trembling on the inside. As the man who was the Emperor, an Emperor who had slaughtered his brothers to ascend to the throne. He was an absolute ruthless expert who thought of the lives of others as simple grass that could be stepped on any time. Though the outside world knew of him as one of the head figures of righteousness only people who lived in the Imperial Court knew of his true nature.
Xie Ming had thought that the Righteous 9 were the people who wanted the inheritance and not the Emperor but he didn't know that it was the Emperor who wanted it. It was not because he was naïve enough to believe that the Emperor was a righteous leader but because the Emperor was a Half step Monarch, the same realm as the Heaven Devouring Monarch. Though the Heaven Devouring Monarch was called a Monarch, in fact he was only a Half step Monarch and hadn't reached the level, to break through he had tried to devour the 3000 Great Daos but had failed as he was besieged by thousands of experts but none of those experts was a Half step Monarch so his strength was only average in the realm of Half step Monarchs.
"Why were you unable to capture Xie Ming?" asked the Emperor with a voice full of dignity if the Second of the Righteous 9 had a bearing comparable to the Great Emperor of the Sky then this Emperor had the bearing of an Emperor who ruled the whole world and it was not wrong to say so as he was the Emperor who ruled the Great Chaos, one of the largest regions of the Immortal World.
"Your Majesty, it was because...."
