Nick Fury set his phone aside and turned to Hill. "What's Andrew William doing?"
Hill replied, "He's street racing in New York. Based on the situation, someone is deliberately stopping him from reaching the Rocket Base. Moreover, Andrew William isn't just a martial arts master, a marksman, but also a racing expert."
"That's not productive."
Nick Fury cursed and continued, "Download the video and send it to my email. I want a thorough understanding of Andrew William's abilities."
Hill rolled her eyes discreetly and said, "Understood."
Nick Fury thought for a moment and then asked Hill again, "Where's Professor Charles?"
Hill responded, "Visiting Magneto at the Alcatraz Island Prison."
"Let him know and have him find out what Mystique is planning through Magneto."
Nick Fury said, "If even Magneto doesn't know, have Professor Charles return to the academy and use the Cerebro device to control Mystique."
Hill nodded. "Got it."
Soon, Professor Charles learned of the situation. He confronted Magneto, who was playing chess with him, "Erik, what are you up to again?"
"I don't know what's happening outside, but whatever it is, they're not wrong."
Magneto said leisurely, "Charles, groveling won't earn mutants dignity and status. You've been wrong from the beginning."
Professor was somewhat annoyed. "Do you know why I collaborated with S.H.I.E.L.D.? It's because of you. Do you realize what fate mutants will face once the Mutant Registration Act passes?"
Magneto coldly snorted, "If you had worked with me, there wouldn't even be a Mutant Registration Act—only a Human Registration Act."
"Erik, you're beyond redemption."
Professor Charles sighed in disappointment, controlling his wheelchair to leave the prison. He had already probed and confirmed that Magneto didn't know about this matter.
At the entrance of Alcatraz Island Prison, Professor Charles turned to Cyclops and said, "Scott, take me back to the academy. I need to use the Cerebro device."
Cyclops was about to nod when Professor Charles' phone suddenly rang. After answering, Storm's grave voice came through the speaker, "Professor, someone has a sniper rifle trained on our academy. They're holding the students on the playground as hostages. We can't leave the academy to find them."
"They say if you return to the academy, they'll start sniping the students before you arrive."
"Raven!"
Professor Charles was infuriated. Whether it was Erik or Raven, they had changed. They were going to extremes to achieve their goals.
Professor Charles sighed, "Agree to their terms."
Cyclops was also angry and offered, "Professor, should I sneak back?"
"Scott, we can't take that risk."
Professor Charles shook his head. At that moment, his phone rang again. It was Nick Fury calling, "Professor, watch Tiktok live. Your sister is making a bigger play than anyone."
Professor Charles was taken aback and hurriedly opened Tiktok, finding the live broadcast from the Daily Bugle TV station.
"I have just received news that Mystique is preparing to use orbital weapons to attack major cities."
Daily Bugle TV station not only explained what orbital weapons were but also listed the top ten cities most likely to be targeted.
Without a doubt, ranked first was the most disaster-prone city of them all—New York.
"Orbital weapons? Mystique, have you lost your mind?"
Professor Charles was becoming desperate. After this incident, humans would undoubtedly grow even more hateful toward mutants. He turned to Cyclops, saying, "Go to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters."
The people of New York were even more desperate than Professor Charles. Other cities might harbor some hope, but not New York. New Yorkers knew the score.
Consequently, the citizens of New York began a mass exodus. Frank's wife was relieved, thankful that they had moved to Los Angeles. Otherwise, they would be as frightened as the rest of New York's residents.
"Worldwide disasters, combined with the catastrophes caused by the Butterfly effect. No wonder the Ancient One let me in."
Andrew William sighed inwardly. It was obvious that the Ancient One was looking for someone to share the blame.
At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Nick Fury entered an empty room and called his Skrull ally, Talos, asking if he could return to Earth.
Skrull Talos reluctantly responded, "Fury, we're not in the solar system; there's not enough time to return."
Nick Fury was somewhat disappointed. After thinking for a moment, he inquired, "Could you send a ship back? Things have been getting busier these past couple of years, and I need some assistance."
Talos nodded, "That can be arranged, Fury."
Hanging up, Nick Fury angrily slammed the table. Damn mutants.
"The world is becoming increasingly dangerous. Maybe it's time to restart the study of the Cosmic Cube."
Nick Fury thought silently. The Cosmic Cube was an endless power source. During World War II, the Red Skull had used it to create numerous energy weapons. Inside the Cosmic Cube were actually Space Stones, though S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel were unaware of that fact.
At that moment, Hill knocked on the door. "Director, the World Security Council has called for an emergency meeting. They're requesting your immediate presence."
"I'll be there shortly."
Nick Fury nodded. This time, it was a global disaster, and the World Security Council would certainly have to intervene personally.
"I propose launching nuclear missiles to destroy the space station."
Gideon Malick, the American representative of the World Security Council, said, "Even though they have hostages, we can't concern ourselves with that now."
"Not an option."
Nick Fury shook his head, saying, "According to our intelligence, Mystique has ten tungsten rods. Launching nuclear missiles won't stop her. By then, she'll definitely choose to go all-in. With our current technology, we can't intercept the tungsten rods."
"Ten tungsten rods? Fury, is your information from Tiktok?"
Gideon sneered and continued, "Even if we don't launch nuclear missiles, Mystique will still drop the rods. It's better to take the initiative."
Nick Fury said, "No, Mystique isn't insane. She's done all this to negotiate with us, not to destroy the world."
"Not insane? Do you know what she's done? She killed Senator Kelly and impersonated him for months."
Gideon shouted, "The President wants me to tell you, he's not pleased. Nick Fury, you've failed in your duty."
"We can discuss these matters after the disaster is averted."
Nick Fury said, "I propose that I negotiate with Mystique."
Gideon asked displeasedly, "Are you planning to surrender?"
Nick Fury said firmly, "The key isn't about surrendering or not. It's about preventing the rods from falling. The power of the Rod of God is terrifying. I believe you're well aware of that."
"We are, of course, but that's why we're in such a hurry."
Another council member added. Just then, Hill knocked on the door. "Professor Charles has arrived. He says he has a way to stop this."
