Chương 33: The Secret of the Wish Fruit
The sudden acceleration of the water startled Li Lis. As she abruptly stood up, her exquisite figure was completely exposed to the air.
"Are you not finished washing yet?" I asked languidly.
After waiting so long, my anxious heart had finally calmed. After all, I was still a young boy with a vigorous physiology, eagerly anticipating what was to come.
Upon hearing my loud voice, Li Lis mistakenly thought I was irritated by the wait and hurriedly dashed out of the bathroom. I could see that she was only wrapped in a pristine towel, large patches of her flawless skin exposed.
Water droplets cascaded down her perfectly long legs, clearly untouched by a towel.
"I'm done!" Seeing Li Lis standing before me, I couldn't help but feel a certain part of me grow rigid.
I beckoned her with my finger, and she obediently approached, sitting on my lap.
With Li Lis, who was nearly one hundred eighty centimeters tall, perched on me, her chin towered above my head.
"Wow! So wet."
Having been prompted by my call, Li Lis hadn't even dried herself, creating an awkward situation for me as I instinctively pushed her away to find something to wipe with.
"Do you need to wash too?"
"No need!"
I patted my somewhat damp pants and casually undid my belt, letting them slide down. Li Lis slowly wiped her body with small, deliberate motions; the scene was intensely intimate. Just as I was about to remove my shirt, a crucial question struck me. I turned to Li Lis and said, "Didn't you mention that the winged demon ape is even stronger than the centaur guards at the training camp?"
Li Lis was perplexed at why I brought up this seemingly trivial matter at such a critical moment but simply nodded and replied, "Indeed, the winged demon ape is incredibly formidable! Its strength and combat skills may not surpass those of the centaur guards, but its speed is terrifying."
As she spoke, a look of lingering fear crossed her face.
"Oh! Have you seen a winged demon ape?"
"Yes, the winged demon ape is part of that adventurer's guard."
"A guard?"
"The winged demon ape legion! Is it akin to the giant spider legion we acquired?" This time, it was my turn to gasp in astonishment.
If there existed an army of nearly a thousand winged demon apes, it would be formidable enough to sweep away a small nation in Africa.

"Oh! What was it about?" At this point, I had shed my last piece of clothing; my physique, which was not particularly robust, had gained some muscle tone thanks to the training sessions from the power card.

"What? Over five hundred deaths?" I had merely intended to lighten the atmosphere for my rookie awkwardness, but I was shocked by the horrifying answer that emerged.
"For an adventurer of such caliber, how could his treasure merely consist of twelve wish fruits? Moreover, your team has six members, requiring six wish fruits to enter and another six to exit. Is there really anyone foolish enough to undertake such a loss-making venture?" As I spoke, my gaze towards Li Lis turned increasingly unfriendly. I had already learned the harsh lessons of survival during my brief time on Devil Island.
"What do you mean needing wish fruits to enter? How can such a precious treasure be wasted like that?"
Li Lis's answer rendered me speechless. Noticing my confusion, she hastily explained, "The most basic use of wish fruits is to travel between the real world and Devil Island. However, long ago, adventurers discovered a more convenient method; portals can be opened between the two realms using magic arrays. Using wish fruits merely for traversing between two worlds is a tremendous waste!"
"Please, go on!"
Li Lis's words left me deeply shocked. With Juli and Fang Lingxue mentioning that wish fruits allowed free passage to Devil Island, I had assumed that was the only method.
Now, as Li Lis unveiled this secret, I understood why, when exchanging intelligence with Yabai Zhenfu, the Wolf King, and Jack, they expressed surprise at my claim of using wish fruits for world crossing. They were astonished at my ignorance.
I also recalled that during our introductions, only Jack had mentioned arriving on Devil Island by consuming a wish fruit. This clarified why Yabai Zhenfu stated he didn't require any wish fruits.
Those three scoundrels must have already formed a secret agreement, excluding me from their knowledge, which explained why they had withheld such common sense.
Unaware of my rapid thoughts, Li Lis candidly shared everything she knew.
As the name suggests, wish fruits are precious treasures that allow one to make a wish. The magnitude of the wish is linked to the ripeness of the wish fruit; the older the fruit, the more wish power it contains, enabling the granting of grander wishes. It is said that the most perfect wish fruit can even fulfill a wish to become a deity!"
"Then why wouldn't that adventurer use the wish fruits himself instead of hiding them?"
