Chương 28: Chapter 28 (edited)

Kara was already twenty-seven years old. Since graduating from university at twenty-four, she hadn't rushed to return home or settle into a career. Instead, she embarked on a journey to explore the world.

By the time Kara began her travels, Bruce Wayne had already been traveling for three years. Kara spent nearly three years wandering the globe, while Bruce was on his sixth year of self-discovery.

During her journey, Kara learned that Bruce had found another mentor—someone associated with a group called the League of Shadows. Kara and Bruce had exchanged numbers when they met along the way, primarily because Bruce had helped her out in various ways. Over the years, Bruce mastered almost every combat technique imaginable, often sharing his experiences with Kara and recommending places for her to train.

The two had become close friends.

However, Kara wasn't particularly interested in the League of Shadows. During one of their phone conversations, she mentioned that it was time for her to return home. She had been away too long, and she knew her adoptive parents were likely worried sick.

Kara had hardly visited home during her university years, and now she had been off adventuring for several more. Despite her exceptional strength and near-invulnerability—traits that made it almost impossible for anyone to harm her—she knew her absence weighed heavily on her family.

As she prepared to return, Kara couldn't help but think of Bruce. Some might think Superman's greatest foe is Doomsday, Darkseid, or even Kara herself, but Kara knew better. The one who could truly bring Superman to his knees wasn't an alien threat—it was Bruce Wayne, the future Batman.

Bruce was meticulous, calculating, and always prepared, especially when it came to his allies. If given enough time and resources, he could outmaneuver anyone, including his closest friends. His obsessive need to study and create contingencies for everyone made him both a brilliant strategist and a dangerous wildcard.

Despite her frustrations with his paranoia, Kara couldn't deny Bruce's unparalleled intellect. It was precisely why he became a cornerstone of the Justice League, even without superpowers.

Shaking off her thoughts, Kara focused on her return. Her time away had changed her; she was no longer the impulsive and brash young woman she once was. Her travels had taught her patience, humility, and control.

Tying her striking white hair into a ponytail, she donned a simple sweater and a pair of well-worn jeans. Her sneakers were the cleanest part of her outfit, thanks to her habit of floating just above the ground to avoid dirt. She also wore glasses, more out of habit than necessity, hoping to avoid drawing unnecessary attention to her striking ruby-red eyes and ethereal beauty.

As she approached her hometown, Kara felt a surge of nostalgia. The scent of fresh farmland filled her senses, and the sight of her family's house in the distance brought a smile to her lips.

When she finally arrived, she could hear familiar voices inside. Without hesitation, she pushed open the door. Her sudden entrance startled her family, but the shock quickly turned to joy.

"Kara?" Martha Kent gasped, tears streaming down her face. "You're finally home!"

Kara rushed forward to embrace her adoptive mother, overwhelmed with emotion. Martha clung to her tightly, unable to hold back her sobs.

Jonathan Kent stood nearby, his expression softening. He had prepared himself to scold Kara for her years of absence, but seeing her standing tall and confident, he held his tongue. Her journey had clearly shaped her into a more grounded and mature person.

"Sister?" A hesitant voice came from the side.

Kara turned to see Clark. He was no longer the little boy who used to follow her around but a seventeen-year-old young man. Though he was already 5'7", Kara's towering 6'3" frame still dwarfed him.

Clark looked at her with a mix of awe and awkwardness. It had been years since they had spent any meaningful time together, and the gap between them felt significant.

Kara, however, didn't hesitate. She dropped her bag and walked over, wrapping Clark in a tight hug.

Clark squirmed, embarrassed, but he couldn't overpower his sister's strength. "You've grown so much, Clark," Kara said warmly, ruffling his hair before letting him go. She grinned teasingly. "So, do you have a girlfriend yet?"

"Kara!" Martha scolded, swatting her on the arm. "Don't encourage him. He's only seventeen."

Kara rolled her eyes playfully. "Mom, boys his age are already thinking about girls. Better to ask now than let him get scooped up by someone terrible!"

Clark's face turned bright red, and Jonathan chuckled despite himself.

"So, Clark," Kara continued, "why are you home? Shouldn't you be in school? Or did you sense your amazing sister was coming home and decide to skip?"

At her question, Martha and Jonathan exchanged uneasy glances.

"He got into a bit of trouble," Jonathan admitted reluctantly.

Kara raised an eyebrow, looking at Clark with curiosity. "Oh? What kind of trouble?"
