Chương 121: Chapter 121 (edited)

Tomar-Re, the Green Lantern responsible for the galaxy where Krypton once existed, stood firm. Despite the enormity of the situation and the intensity of Kara's aura, he floated down courageously and faced her.

The Green Lantern Corps embodies unwavering willpower and unyielding courage. Even in the face of Kara's overwhelming presence, Tomar-Re remained fearless. His appearance was distinctly alien—part fish, part bird—which earned him a curious glance from Kara, who briefly mused about his unusual looks.

Tomar-Re gave Kara a warm, friendly smile. "I am a friend of your House of El."

The crest of the House of El, emblazoned on Kara's chest, was unmistakable to him. While others might mistake it for a simple letter, Tomar-Re immediately recognized it as a symbol of hope and the legacy of one of Krypton's most prominent families.

The House of El was a pillar of Kryptonian society, renowned for its contributions to science, law, and governance. Jor-El, Kara's uncle, was a respected scientist, while her mother, Alura, and aunt, Astra, were both esteemed generals who had served Krypton with distinction.

Kara's frown eased slightly but remained skeptical. "I didn't know we had a... fish-like friend in the family."

Tomar-Re chuckled, unbothered by her remark. "I visited Krypton when you were born, Kara Zor-El. Your mother, Alura, and your aunt, Astra, were both remarkable women. They helped me apprehend fugitives on several occasions."

Hearing the names of her beloved relatives softened Kara's demeanor, though she maintained a guarded stance. His knowledge of their names, after more than twenty years, was a testament to his sincerity. Few outsiders would remember such details unless they were genuine friends—or enemies.

Kara narrowed her eyes. "What were you doing when Krypton was destroyed?"

Though her tone was sharp, Kara wasn't accusing him of complicity. She wanted to understand if the Green Lanterns had stood idly by or if they had truly been powerless to prevent Krypton's destruction.

Tomar-Re let out a sigh. "I often visited Krypton to work with your family. However, when your aunt, General Astra, began her rebellion, I distanced myself to avoid becoming a source of tension. Your parents and most of Krypton remained loyal to their planet, despite the growing evidence that its destruction was inevitable."

He continued, his tone somber. "Shortly before Krypton's end, I discovered a compound that could have stabilized the planet's core temporarily. I intended to buy time, but on my way back, a solar flare from a nearby yellow star damaged my ring. I was blinded for a time, and by the time I reached Krypton, it was already too late."

Kara's expression wavered. The loss of Krypton still weighed heavily on her, and Tomar-Re's account added a layer of tragic inevitability. The yellow impurity in the Green Lantern rings was a known weakness, making them vulnerable to the power of yellow light. If what he said was true, then even Kara couldn't blame him for Krypton's demise.

As she pondered his words, an impatient Guardian of the Universe interrupted. "Kryptonian, surrender the ring immediately."

The Guardians' cold, emotionless stares bore into her. They prided themselves on their detachment, believing it was necessary to protect the universe impartially. To Kara, their demeanor felt self-righteous.

She shrugged. "I don't even want it," she retorted, gripping the green ring on her finger. However, as she tried to remove it, the ring resisted. A bright green light flared, growing stronger as Kara applied more force.

"I still don't believe this," she muttered, her stubborn streak flaring as she pulled with all her might.

The sky above Oa was suddenly illuminated by an intense green glow. One of the Guardians shouted, "Stop! The original Green Lantern ring is directly connected to the universal willpower. She is battling the collective will of the universe itself. If this continues, Oa could be destroyed!"

The Guardian's words gave Kara pause. Reluctantly, she stopped struggling with the green ring. "Since she was chosen by the willpower of the universe, there must be a reason," another Guardian declared. "However, she must remove the red and black rings immediately."

Kara cast a glance at the assembled Guardians and, with a shrug, reached for the red and black rings on her other hand. To her surprise, they, too, refused to budge.

"Great," Kara muttered under her breath. "Just my luck."
